This Republican call for transparency from Obama is nauseating, given the current admin's secrecy

Quote:

"While it is encouraging that the president-elect has stated his office will disclose contacts with the scandal-ridden governor, it remains disappointing that his actions are in response to political pressure," Republican National Committee Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan said. "Americans expect the highest degree of transparency from their elected leaders, rather than promises of openness on the campaign trail."

THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION'S SECRET WAYS
Refusal to appear before Congressional commissions, refusal to respond to subpoenas, refusal to testify under oath, deletion of WH emails and use of "outside" email services, actively working against the FOIA, claims of (nonexistant) "executive privilege"...

Bush, Cheney ordered Secret Service to keep visitor logs under wraps
WASHINGTON — A newly disclosed effort to keep Vice President Dick Cheney's visitor records secret is the latest White House push to make sure the public doesn't learn who has been meeting with top officials in the Bush administration.

Think, for example, about the fate of official records. Will they be removed or shredded to further obscure this administration’s doings? Nourished on secrecy from its inception, and carefully concealing many of its activities through the years, the Bush administration may be determined to make one last play for secrecy by taking its records and storing them in a Dallas warehouse, pending a Bush library. In these waning weeks, a group of us is locked in legal combat with Vice President Dick Cheney and his corps of unseen advisers, seeking an injunction to prevent them from leaving office with their e-mail records.

PLEASE. There is a real crime here, with ties directly to Obama. First, he talked w/ Gov Blagojevich about the vacant Senate seat, then he didn't, Rahm may or may not be on those FBI tapes, and we KNOW Rezko was buddy buddy with both Gov Blagojevich and Senator Obama.

Just come clean, it'll be better now if Obama doesn't wait.

No ' BS ' here, just sound, common sense advice.

No need to get all defensive, and all. Sheesh !

Ok, let's break this down, in easy to understand bits.

1 - Oh, there was most definitely a crime.

2 - At the most casual, the appearance of impropriety weighs on the President - elect. At some level, someone at least TALKED to the Governor. Maybe not O himself, but someone.

3 - And what will you say if Rahm himself in on those tapes? At the very least, that's problematic for the new Chief of Staff.

Take a deep breath and face what's comin'.

I give it 50/50. Although I give the chances he was involved a bit more than that probably seeing as how I worked in politics in Illinois a decade ago and they only made things worse when they purged the Republicans and had nobody there to keep the Democrats in check.

The Republicans were just as guilty of crime as the Democrats, that is for sure.... the only difference being is that the Democrats have the public support for the most part... and most media outlets if you throw FOX out the window.

Obama is no less or no more a criminal than McCain is and likely no more or less a criminal than Bush is. I'll stop short of saying I told you so yet...

That was then, this is now. Bush and his administration will soon be history, but Barry and the boys (and girls ) are just getting started. Barry's fillty whores in the press are still doing there best to cover his ass, but Barry is from one of the slimmiest places (politicaly) on the planet. With the Republicans out of power, and whorehouses (newspapers) going out of buisiness, you libs better learn to play defence real fast. Soon your own bitches in the press are going to turn on you to save there own reps.

That sentiment isn't helping me sleep any better at night either.

Heh... anybody else think it's funny that 15 years down the road maybe, he'll have to explain to some person at some point why he signed about 5000 posts of his quoting a guy about having sex with a bagle. Man.... you're going to wish this was one of those sites that change your signature on every post after you change yours......

What I read was
Quote:

WASHINGTON — People who have been briefed on the Illinois governor corruption investigation say Barack Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel is not a target of the probe. Emanuel, a Chicago congressman who would have been a likely contact between the Obama transition office and Gov. Rod Blagojevich, has been a focus of media attention since Obama said Thursday he has asked for an internal review of contacts between his staff and Blagojevich. Emanuel has been refusing to answer questions about whether he's the "president-elect adviser" referred to in the criminal complaint that accuses Blagojevich of putting Obama's Senate seat up for sale. The complaint does not say that Blagojevich ever spoke to the unidentified Obama adviser about the Senate seat.

Also, Rahm is NOT the politician who tipped off Fitzgerald. So far, it seems as if Rahm had not much to do with it either way. But this is very early in the investigation so I'm prepared to wait and see
