Chrisisall... it's still possible for the Repubs to hack the election. There's still time for an "October surprise". And Obama might be "intervened", as McCain put it.

In any case, IF Obama is elected the right-wing will spend the next four years carping and cavilling about anything, everything, and nothing. After all, they've been carping and cavilling even with Bush is office. Why do you think they'd change? It's not like they're connected to reality.

Still, I don't see any reason why we CAN'T get the govt to reform itself a bit. So if you were able to get three good reforms, what would you aim for?

BTW - the vote pits two powerful forces against each other - racism v an anti-Bush referendum.

If McCain somehow stumbles into the WH it will be seen as a mandate for those exact same policies that have been ruining the country for the last 8 years. Anyone who even thinks about possibly wanting any change at all will have to stuff it. You WILL get more of the same.

Assuming Obama lives long enough to get elected and DO something, he will know, or should know, that it was a vote for CHANGE. That makes him vulnerable to being pushed by US. I believe he's conservative enough that he will need to be pushed. And I know that he'll never get a second term - the things he'll have to do to turn the country around will not be happy fluffy popular things. In the meantime, anyone who wants change will have to get to work NOW getting their organizations together.

An Obama presidency isn't the end goal - it's only the beginning of a new round of work.
