Where is Sunnydale?

I always figured that since it's a large town south of L.A., with a good-sized port it was located next to San Diego.

According to one of the Buffy season DVDs (I forget which one) in a commentary by Joss, he said he always envisioned Sunnydale to be Monterey, CA.

Which incidentally is a half hour away from Santa Cruz (where "Lost Boys" was filmed except it was called Santa Carla).

Now where did we place that Hellmouth...

And one of the dorms at the local University in the show is named "Kresge", which is the name of one of the colleges at UC Santa Cruz-- I believe Marti Noxon (sp?) is an alumnus.

Having previously lived in Santa Cruz, I can totally believe that Buffy was set on Monterey Bay-- if there was a Hellmouth beneath Santa Cruz it would explain many things....

Oh, bugger! Now I have to wait for someone to wake up!

Is the Kresge college at UC Santa Cruz named after Sebastian Kresge? Sebastian Kresge founded the Kresge department stores and the Kresge Foundation who's mission is "to promote the well-being of mankind." The Kresge Department store chain became K-Mart. Probably everything that has his name on it is because of his foundation's work.
