Why the EU can't be too hard on the US

In other words, if the EU gets into a shooting war they'll need the US or Britian, as usual, to provide combat-ready troops to pull them out of a hole.

Technically, Britain is part of the EU. It says France is important too.

Or seen another way, the EU has every right to be hard on the US if the US gets itself involved in an unnecessary war and it isn't able to spend its resources in areas where they're needed more.

And how likely is it that the EU will become involved in a shooting war anyway?

Anyway. The French have a long history of losing wars and then getting the Americans to come in and fight them for them, with mixed results. Either way, it's a useful life skill.
