Just finished watching. AWESOME. On the featurette it says the head bad guy is a real former Burmese rebel fighter, so you can bet its pretty accurate.

Acting- meh, whaddaya want for a Rambo movie?
Blood- copious.
Booms- extensive but not overdone. Tallboy, anyone?
"Message"- just enough to be relevant without seeming cheesy.
Knife- hey Sly, the Uruk-hai from LOTR called, they want their fingernail cleaner back!

Maybe a little too much shaky cam.

I remember, vaguely, an interview where Stallone responds to the question of gratuitous violence and torture. He said he got those stories from first hand interviews with survivors, and actually had to *tone it down* because the real stories were worse.

Burma sounds FUBAR to me.

Yeah, I saw it a couple of weeks ago. Whew, uber-violent. But from what I understand the violence was meant to show the sheer brutality of the situation in Burma/Myanmar...something the world needs to be made aware of.

I think that if the acting were a bit better he would have been able to carry his message further into the main stream consciousness. No matter how noble the message most people will not be impressed or even listen with out the acting being less wooden. Most of the chars were one dimensional and static leaving me less than impressed.

Asia has a history of horrid abuses by "Patriots and Tyrants". I don't know if what is done in Burma could even be considered an escalation of the violence considering the historic record. I don't believe that that makes it acceptable I am just saying that with such a long history of violence that it has woven itself into the culture of the area. Changing a culture is not an easy thing to do and cannot be directed in any since and more often than not has unintended consequences. I would not say that it would be a waste of time just resource intensive.

Nope not confusing static with stoic. Though I do have to commend the editor for choice of scenes to delete. In my opinion they would only have hurt the movie more had they been included.

When I say that the chars were static I do not mean that as a direct slight to the actors ability considering that all of them were static I would say that it was more the writing. They did not make me care about the chars, if they lived or died it didn't matter.

And yes I do know the meaning of stoic and Rambo came across as a very one dimensional "stoic", a man of action with few words. (who needs words when you can shoot four men in less time than it takes a mere mortal to blink)

This here makes me think you ain't never been in a violent confrontation your own self- things do happen that fast- combine that with meticulous weapons training, and there's nothing super-human about the scene you reference.
But, it is an easy shot to take

Not saying that things can't happen that quickly. Properly trained a person can be amazing. I suppose that they were trying to get across that with all the snake wrangling that he did kept his reflexes in top form.

I just don't think it was an amazing movie didn't say that your not allowed to think opposite of me, just expressing my opinion. I found it lacking in realism, Mr. detector.

Yes I know that things like this really happen. Just don't think that they are realisticly portrayed in the movie. Things tend to be a lot more complex.

Of course the movie had it's share of un-realism, but for a RAMBO movie, it was gorram close to a documentary, IMO. The violence in it is not the "GO MAN!

" kind, it's the "Oh s**t

." kind. And in my book, that's as real as Hollywood flicks can get.
Kudos to Stallone for not giving us another cartoon like the previous two.

Un Darla like is her character in " Dexter " , also. Though I did like it when she said something about " worrying about Angel " . Of course, the " Angel " in the Dexter series is a cop named Angel, who gets stabbed and almost dies. One of the quirks of writing, I'm sure, as I don't know if the writers ever figured she'd be on that show and the name ' Angel ' was just out of random chance.

Angel "No Relation" Batista was a char in the Dexter books. So if it is that Angel it is co-ink-y-dink but having never seen the show I don't know if that char made it to the screen version.

I'm guessing that 'char' is short for character, eh ? I'm having to wati to see Dexter on FX, USA or what ever it comes on, and not Showtime. Yes, on the screen version, Angel is a cop who works w/ Dexter and his sister at their precinct.

'Rap, you done missed it. Season 1 of Dexter just finished its run on CBS, of all places. I really like it, and was a bit pleasantly surprised with how much it *wasn't* chopped and edited to hell. Some, sure, but not much that I could tell.

Maybe they'll rerun it for the summer. It does make good summer fare, set in Miami and all.

And if you get a chance, check out "Burn Notice" on USA. It's pretty fun. Not so much believable, but fun. Also set in Miami.

CBS ? Wow. I guess I was thinking , because of it's edgy nature, that it was on USA. Like Burn Notice. I'm a huge fan of BN, and am eagerly awaiting season 2 !!

I remember seeing a man in a wheelchair protesting outside a theater in the 80's at the opening of a rambo movie. With his one arm he was struggling to hold a sign that read, "When rocky rambo was hiding in Switzerland, real men were fighting in Viet Nam."

Rocky Balboa is from South Philly and John Rambo is from Arizona not Yodel nation. As Rambo would say "Whoo da fudau uh uuu" thats cause all the silicone in the lips now. Movies were stilll Grrreat.
