I was under theimpression that she didn't want to move on to other things but that she was shocked when she found out she was 'unemployed' i read something like that in TV Guide but some posts i've read here imply that she left the series of her own accord

In everything I've read she has been quoted as saying that she was done because she felt there was little else to do with her character. Also, she just had a baby so she may want time for her child.

I will try to find the article links; I think that Yahoo! uses Reuters for most of their entertainment news so I will check there.
