Named the thread for a thrashin' Static-X song. Some of us just need a sound thrashing right now.

Firsties? yay firsties.

*hugs MsB* Want someone to smack 'em down for you? (Yes, lots of built-up fustration and stress right now.)

As for the personal imponderables, trying to decide if the current situation is: a. the school, b. the demands/situation, c. a bad year, d. the 'verse "suggesting" that it's time to move on.

ETA: Ha ha Zeek. ('course considering what I do, maybe I am....)

Seems it is a bad year for a lot of folks in these parts. Praise Allah, it's almost done with.

If We Make It Through December
Merle Haggard

If We Make It Through December ev'rything's gonna be alright I know;
It's the coldest time of winter and I shiver when I see the falling snow;
If We Make It Through December,
Got plans to be a warmer town come summer time;
Maybe even California,
If We Make It Through December, we'll be fine;
Got laid off down at the fact'ry
And their timing's not the greatest in the world;
Heaven knows I been working hard, wanted Christmas to be right for daddy's girl;
I don't mean to hate December,
It's meant to be the happy time of year;
And my little girl don't understand why daddy can't afford no Christmas here;
If We Make It Through December ev'rything's gonna be alright I know;
It's the coldest time of winter and I shiver when I see the falling snow;
If We Make It Through December,
Got plans to be a warmer town come summer time;
Maybe even California,
If We Make It Through December, we'll be fine.

If you've never heard this song, find it. Kinda haunting when thinking about family and such this time of year especially if the year has been a hard one.

Not just cause I want to post more. It's cause I'm bored out of my mind. It's year end boringness around here. Everything is in stand still while we all take our use it or lose it vacation. Cause everything is too crazy during the year to take any.

On that note at least it's my last week for the year :-) Then I'll sit around playing mario galaxy and petting the kitty.

Oh lucky! I've been counting down the weeks until Christmas based on the weekends (Thanksgiving, long weekend due to hubby moving office buildings, company Christmas party, hubby's birthday, going to see the Nutcracker -- and then we leave for Austin the next Monday). I know it's going by at least twice as fast as it would if I were a kid (remember how long it felt like as a kid? hehe), but still I can hardly wait. At least this weekend is the company party, so I'll get to wear my fancy new dress, and enjoy hubby in his new suit complete with cufflinks.

Well for context the kitty has double incentive to pounch when I play mario galaxy. 1.) She likes warm laps 2.) she likes trying to attack the cord between the wiimote and the nunchuck. #2 is no good for her because when I die I get to take out my anger on her and she goes flying sometimes.

There's a rating system that tells you what's in the game just like movie ratings. Make an educated decision about whether you want to see/play the content based on the rating and move on. Amen, Zeek, amen. IMO game ratings are already displayed more prominently than movie ratings. If the government wants to get into the business of regulating every movie, tv show, book, song, and magazine released in the US, then and only then would it be ok to regulate games. But as long as movies, etc, are allowed to self-regulate -- the MPAA is a *privately run* and *voluntary* system that movie producers *voluntarily* submit to and movie theaters and stores selling DVDs *voluntarily* enforce -- games MUST be treated the same way.

Yep had to rant about it. Saw yet another article. Seems a lot of them are popping up these days. The thing said a survey said 51% of people wanted the government to regulate the content of videogames. Not even just regulating the rating system. That's so excessive it's scary that people think that way.

Bah the article just made me mad. Figured you guys wouldn't mind me ranting a bit.

Why don't we just invite the MPAA to run our lives for us? Kill one twin cause he's stealing his brother's looks? Make sure that no one creates anything even close to somehting else, and that that content is blah and packaged? Anyone for a Fox show of appreciation?

WoW I usually see 80 or 100 plus posts when I get to imponderables. Most be a busy day for some people.

We are digging our way out of a second snow storm in less than a week here in Milwaukee. Had to drive fifty miles to our other factory today while the highways were still a little rough. Some counties do a better job than others when it comes to plowing the pavement.

Was better on the way home. They had all day to clean it up.

I saw the name of this thread and thought it was in response to the T-shirt this Zen instructor was wearing when they found him while digging a foundation for a parking lot on the TV show called "Life". The arrow was pointing up on his shirt too. It was also the first full episode I sat and watched of this show.

I am still trying to catch up on what is and what is not on TV. Seems some of my favorite shows got yanked. Surprize. But I like "Chuck". So there are some good new ones out there.

Yeah since it goes straight to our manager for approval I'm sure I'd be getting the funny look real quickly. Though it would be funny to write up a real one and save it off somewhere so when she comes back to me going "what in the world is this?" I can just quickly change it out and be like "done".

I mean it would at least put it in the back of her mind that the real summary of what I did is 3 people's job and saving the company money and all the rest is fluff.

Hey MsB, I have a random question for you. I'm not sure where in Utah you live, but I'm hoping you can help this SoCal girl get a bit of perspective...

My brother is getting married. Generally speaking, this is a good thing. His fiancée is probably the coolest person he could have hoped to get to marry him. They're very cute and I'm really excited to have another sister-in-law.

They live in Provo right now, so they've decided to get married nearby in American Fork. That's fine, I can brave Utah for one weekend for my brother's wedding day. The wedding is the third weekend of January though. I haven't seen actual snow in 12 or 13 years, and not even flurries for 6 years.

Aaaaand they want to drive up to Midway/Heber for a family dinner after the wedding. Looks like a cute little place, but it's an hour drive, 1000 ft elevation climb, up a little windy mountain road.

So I guess my question is, if you know, how much snow should this California girl expect? Does hubby need to brush up on his tire-chain skills? Or will the roads be kept clear? It's the 189 north-east out of Orem, if that helps. And once we get up there for dinner, would it be better (for people not used to driving in the snow) to get a hotel up there, and then drive down during daylight the next day? I mean, should we avoid driving down a mountain road in the dark in January? Or am I being silly?

If you have any pointers or thoughts on this at all, I would really appreciate it! Hubby is already having flashbacks to his childhood in Wyoming, but I'm really hoping we can work this out so I can enjoy my brother's wedding. (Oh, and just for the icing on the cake, not only is it Utah in the middle of ski season, they also picked the same weekend as the Sundance Film Festival. Having fun trying to find a hotel already. )

Although there are some spots where we do get to the "Stick your UMP45 up that dudes ass KILL 'EM ALL!!!" tactics. Feels sooo good to be shootin' without spending sixty to a hundred dollars for the .45 on a range day.

That and moving reactive targets.

Definately not a man's law. Listed under Bitch Law, Section 1, Item three below:
1. Failure to apply respect and dignity to all things.
and
2. Refusal to carry self with honor and respect to all things.
Falls under:
3. Denial of rights and obligations to loved ones, significant others, offspring, and any person/diety where word is bond.

And, as I'm sure my fellow BCMW will agree, most of the bitches I know are in fact male, not men. "himself" is allowed only the label male in terms of identity for target recognition.

Hi all...

It's been awhile but things are...well...things. Good is not a word I can use right now with a 'pain patch' taped to my lower back (actually it's high ass, but who's countin'? ). Stupid bed at the house-sitting place sucks major. 4 nights in it and I can't walk...or RIDE. I get VERY cranky when I can't ride.

NVG: love the Samuel. Wonderful expoundation (new word...triple word score bonus) on one of my favorite rules. I rarely post without reading an entire thread...the few times I have, it always bites me in the high ass. :D

CK: Beautiful dress. LOVES it...and it looks smashing on you...even headless.

I ended up LOVING my fifth choice dress in the holiday dress saga. Even though it was 10x more expensive than the one I found locally, I still had to let my inner princess win out and wear it. Let's see if I can find a picture of it (can you believe I managed to not get a single picture of the full thing both times I've worn it so far? Dereliction of duties, I tell ya.)

Let's see...here is me talking to my boss' wife.

Headless me (I'm making a funny face so I cut it off. )

and dancing with a co-worker. I'm apparently a face-maker when I dance. There are a plethora of other pictures of me dancing and the faces only get worse. Heh.)

So yeah, no full shots of the dress, but there is the top portion. Best part is the dress is COMFORTABLE. I probably should've gone down a size, but whatever...I felt like I could go hiking in it and be perfectly comfortable (or some such activity that ones DOES.NOT. do in a fancy dress).

On the not a true man ponderable:
I'm betting one of the reasons he is an ex is because the world revolves around him, at least he thinks so. What we need is to get him into the breakables room and let NV, Zeek, Gee, RIMG, MsB, and HK at him for a while, then drag him out by his feet and tie him to a very fast vehicle and drag him very slowly down a cobblestone road.
No presents for your kids?! Personally, I am having a "bare" present time so that my kids can have a decent gifting experience. Even if I was an ex, my kids deserve it. GRRRRRR. Who's up for blunt object tramau inducement?
