Ted and Second had a lot to say about the drones flying around New Jersey and how the Trumptard Conspiracy Theorists were freaking out about nothing.
Funny....
I don't believe we've heard a single goddamned word out of either of them about the biggest story in the country right now.
I wonder why that is.

The fires are still raging in L.A. The incompetent pols have no idea how to put them out. Thousands of magnificent houses are gone, and many more will soon be lost. There is death all over the place. This is one of the worst catastrophes in the history of our Country. They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?

There are many, many things you can pin on Newsom and Bass, and gross, fucking incompetence and mismanagement are right at the top.
But AFA the houses being burned and brush clearance ... they are on PRIVATE PROPERTY. IDK if there's any way to compel property owners to make their property fire-resistant, even if a specific homeowner's property becomes the locus of a fire outbreak, unless special codes are written for urban-wildland interface, and strictly enforced.
One thing to notice on LA maps, wherever the streets are curvy, thats where the hills are. And that's where the fires are.
Also, its the utulities responsible for clearing brush and trees away from power lines, not the homeowner.
IDK if you recall, but there was a huge fire in northern CA in 2018 that wiped an entire town off the map. The Camps Fire. Look it up.

Camp Fire destroys the town of Paradise
Quote:
The fire began on the morning of Thursday, November 8, 2018, when part of a poorly maintained Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) transmission line in the Feather River Canyon failed during strong katabatic winds. [At times in excess of 80 mph. "A katabatic wind is a downslope wind caused by the flow of an elevated, high-density air mass into a lower-density air mass below under the force of gravity."] Those winds rapidly drove the Camp Fire through the communities of Concow, Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, and Paradise, largely destroying them. The fire burned for another two weeks, and was contained on Sunday, November 25, after burning 153,336 acres (62,050 ha). The Camp Fire caused 85 fatalities, displaced more than 50,000 people, and destroyed more than 18,000 structures, causing an estimated US$16.5 billion in damage. It was the most expensive natural disaster (by insured losses) of 2018, and is a notable case of a utility-caused wildfire.
PG&E filed for bankruptcy in January 2019, citing expected wildfire liabilities of $30 billion.
There were so many things that went wrong:
No maintenance on powerlines by PG&E (Extensive record of poor maintenance on gas lines and powerlines. San Bruno gas main explosion. ) SCE supposedly now shuts off electricity in line affected by strong winds.
Only one narrow road in and out of communities.
No brush clearing and tree thinning on private land, no "fire safety zone" around community.
Perfect storm of very strong, dry wind and dry vegetation.
.....
But with 80 mph winds driving embers over a mile away, no amount of brush clearing would have helped. Even houses in the middle of Paradise were destroyed, leading to the lesson "There's no such thing as 'too big to burn' ".
The only thing to make a difference would have been prevention, and multiple exit routes.

That's ridiculous to even suggest. You people are already subject to the most insane property taxes in the country, and there's not even a distant 2nd place.
As long as you're not in a HOA which would have their own rules, you're fine if your yard doesn't look like Sandord and Son's.
Do not blame the homeowners here. There is absolutely nothing that any of these people could have done to prevent this destruction.
This was 100% the fault of the inept Californian Government.

Interesting point about the street layout. I think this is probably going to renew discussions about how stupid and inefficient our suburbs are laid out.

And closely related to the discussion about our stupid suburbs...

That was intentional. These are the people who have all the money in the world but go around telling everyone else how to live their lives while they get to live their own out inside their gated community bubble with their own private security forces that get to focus on only one easily accessible entryway with no point of egress unless you've got a 12 foot ladder laying by the wall or remembered to bring your grappling hook with you when you went out for your daily jog.
The people who, up until now, have NEVER HAD TO PAY THE PRICE for the bad people and the bad policies they keep voting in because the empty sloganeering from the Left makes them feel nice.
I bet they regret walling themselves away inside their own Panic Room Communities now. For at least 16 of them and counting, they sealed themselves inside their own mausoleum.
NGL... My schadenfreude boner is raging.
Good luck on the streets. Hope you remembered to pay your yearly $20,000 Fire Insurance bill on time. Assuming you were lucky enough to even find somebody who would still insure your house anywhere near L.A. in 2024, that is.
