I'm allowed back! Seriously, I've been banned from FFF.net for two months. What's going on? I just get told that my IP address is on a list of banned ones and told to contact the website manager (which, by the way, is impossible unless you can access the site).
The stuff I've missed talking about! Buffy #5, the Ripper announcement ('mon the BBC!), the special edition of Serenity. Woe is me....
Anyway, good to be back. Issue 6? Bloody brilliant. I was a little unsure about it at first, but when the action switched to Buffy and Xander I was just about ready to jump up and start chanting "Here we go!" - so good to see interplay between plotlines again (by the way, sexual tension between Buffy and Xander you could cut with a scythe). The dialogue felt like it could have been coming out of the actors mouths, Faith looked pretty much like Eliza Dushku though I felt Giles was spot on (except for the Yellow Submarine jumper...).
Not sure how I felt about Robin - looks like he and Faith are really over. Wonder who finished that? My guess is Faith, perhaps Robin was becoming a little too close. Well, not close but perhaps not letting Faith discover what she was in the new world as she would have liked - if that makes sense.
I have no problem with Giles using Faith to kill the rogue slayer for a number of reasons.
1. She is the best person for the job. She has seen that darkness herself and should know how to fight it - though it seems the rogue might not be quite as dark as Giles thinks.
2. He is willing to do it himself, but isn't able to. Ask nobody to do anything you wouldn't do yourself? Consider that box ticked.
3. It ultimately offers Faith a way out - do you think Buffy would have taken the job towards the end of season 3 to get away from the slaying life? There was some talk about that, and after all Buffy was willing to kill a rogue slayer for the greater good.
4. Most importantly, it offers Faith a chance for some redemption. No doubt she has come a long way in that quest but this is a chance to strike at something she used to be. Though I would suspect Faith's eventual act of atonement will be to help Savidge turn against her wizard buddy and step off the dark path - just as Buffy and Angel once reached out to her.
Hope I don't get banned for this.

FYI: Nick Brendon admitted to an alcohol addiction sometime after BUFFY ended. I think that had something to do with the extra pounds. He battled the addiction and appears to have won, fortunately for him, his family & friends, and of course his fans.
Just got my copy yesterday. Loved it, top to bottom. I don't know how I feel about the Faith & Robin breakup. On one hand, I never saw any chemistry between the two onscreen, but I also felt it would have been nice to see Faith make a relationship-of ANY kind-work.
The evil slayer...I didn't see why Giles didn't think they couldn't at least try to rehabilitate her first before killing her. Isn't the anti-Giles guiding her the real evil so far? Sure she went along with it, but WHY? What caused her to have such little respect for human life in the first place?
So wish the Xander scenes especially could have been performed live. It's almost a new kind of torture from Joss & Co. I mean, DAMN!!!

Finally got mine and I am extremely impressed. I was a little upset about Joss doing this Faith arc after just leaving a bunch of stuff behind in the previous one but it's good to see that the other Scoobs will be making small appearances though out of all of them I'd like to see what Willow's feelings are in all of this. Hopefully we'll be seeing little bits of all the Scoobs through this arc.
As far as Giles chosing Faith for this task, to me it makes alot of sense. Buffy obviously has her own problems and this new slayer isn't exactly average. I don't think Giles would want to trust one of the other, less-experienced slayers with such an important task, Faith really is the best choice.
And of course... Twilight shows up again!!!
Lets go to the Mall... Today!!!
