Rule by decree passed for Chavez

Chavez is nothing more than a pimp.....who else wears red & purple suits? He's trying to be the Castro of the the new millenium....soon Venezuela will be a totalitarian, socialistic state, and the average Venezuelan will see all their property rights, civil rights, human rights vanish right before their eyes as they're hauled off to jail.

This tyrant wannabee just SHUT DOWN the ONLY TV station that EVER dared to criticize him....so much for liberal/socialism free speech. The jails and torture chambers are being filled up with all who oppose his insanity. But I'm sure none of this bothers his American buddies like Belafonte & Glover, or his great pal,the Iranian Hitler-clone Achmedassholeijhad.

Not going to outright defend Chavez's closing of that television station because I only know bits and pieces about the nation and haven't done enough research to actually come down with a position,

but before I condemned him for it, I'd have to understand some things better. If we take Chavez's word for it, the U.S. has been funding the opposition. If we take the U.S.'s rhettoric towards Venezuela into account it may not be that crazy a conspiracy theory. Or maybe it is, I'm not sure.

money is power. You can't honestly argue that the rules of a democracy in the face of vastly unbalanced wealth to sway that democracy is a genuine democracy. And if money were truly coming from foreign sources with the intent to destabilize Chavez's Presidency, with the intent of furthering foreign interests over domestic ones, I can see a compelling reason to have such a station shut down.

Now, on the other hand, if this were all true, its been going strong now for a long time, and Chavez has not had a problem getting elected or winning the will of the people, so under such circumstances, it does seem like it may be an extreme approach to a problem that may not have been a problem...it may even be a tyrranical approach.

So far I'm unconvinced either way. Maybe somebody who knows more about the political situation in Venezuela could explain the situation to me, in more depth.

PS You could have neutrally asked if there were any other responses. Instead you posted a gratuitous attack on the many posters here who don't share your views. That was neither smart nor fair.
