Finally caught up.
I gotta say CMH, from what you describe, I can't fault you for your preferred style of hunting, as you did it for the experience. I'm not against hunting as a rule, just cruelty, and thats not you, CMH. Many cultures have hunting rituals, you just made your own, and why not. I hope you found what you were looking for.
As for dating.... well, that's a can o' worms topic for me folks, that I've partially covered before. First lemme say, compared to you guys I'm an atypical teen: i'll be eighteen in two months time, and I have never been on a date, and I've never had sex. And not only is that fine with me, I'm happy with my current situation. On my last day of christmas vacation (MsG and Necko at least know about public school "vacations" lol), I went to yonder mall with some of the leftover cash (change and forgotten "you're going out you'll need a little money" sorts of things) from bygone years, and I bought presents for ten of my friends. All ten happened to be female. Meh. I got several hugs in return.
That's my point here, these are the people that I love in my life, and as far as i'm concerned dating just alienates all but one of them, not a great proposition. Besides, anyone i'd actually want to date (the thought has of course crossed my mind, but still) would probably agree with me that dating is sorta pointless pre-college and pre-legal-adulthood. Not to mention full of cliches and stupidity.
Ok, yeah, I rant.
As for parenting..... had I (and maybe someday i'll have) a daughter... like ya all said, I hope i've raised her to be responsible enough that I could sit at home and not be worried about what she might be doing.
Ever heard that phrase "I think therefore I am"? I want to be able to look into my daughter's eyes and know that there is a sentient consciousness in there, something new, something original, something clever and responsible. That I could be sure that she thinks, therefore she is. I think I could handle letting go then.
If I had a son? Blah, I hope I dont. Men are pigs.
Ok, I've got a sorta weird question that doesnt exactly belong here, but I dont want to start a major thread topic for it: Any ideas what activities a high school Firefly Club would do? besides... have shindigs and watch firefly? (i didnt mean to hijack the thread, really!)
Well, off to sleep, and upon the morrow, memorize the last act of Comedy of Errors.

Ooooh - Comedy of Errors!!
"It is thyself, mine own self's better part;
Mine eye's clear eye, my dear heart's dearer heart;
My food, my fortune, and my sweet hope's aim;
My sole earth's heaven, and my heaven's claim."
(Act III, Scene II)
What could be funnier than mistaken identity, Shakespearean wit and not one but two pair of twins?? Well - in your favour is the fact that it is the shortest of Willy's plays... Have fun Whitefall - and
another hug for you - you are one in a million!! Your friends are so lucky to have you there for them!! It's so good to see you here again!!
Ah... now, down to business... could a high school Firefly/Serenity club have fan fic/short stories from the 'verse competitions? Maybe a newsletter which has snippets of info gleaned on the internet...? A recruiting offic for the 76th Battalion?? Oooops sorry - I tend to get a little carried away with the 76th I'm afraid!!

I was in "Comedy of Errors" in college! I played two small parts...I may be a theater major, but I'll never claim to be an actor...I prefer the backstage!

Thank you, thank you dear Penguin!!
Oh and Nico - thanks for glomping me too - you know I love it!!

P.S. Thanks for putting that twangin' guitar music in my head every time I look at the title of this thread Nico!! I am not familiar with this particular song... but I keep hearing "A hard earned thirst deserves a big cold beer... and the best cold beer is Vic... Victorian bitter..."

Surely, I can't be alone in this behaviour...?

Magda, as fun as that scene is, I'm actually the other antipholus.... the one everyone talks about but practically no one interacts with lol. It's a great part, I just was sorta hoping when i got cast "she's my wife? this'll be interesting" and suchlike. O well, i get to be angry and confused.
And of course I look nothing like my syracusian counterpart, but.. meh.
