Buffy season 7 vs. Angel season 5: which do you like better?

Even tough I saw Buffy since it first aired and it holds a special place in my heart, I'm gonna have to go with Angel if it boils down to just the final seasons.

this is actually a fun question to consider, and I would be inclined to say that they were both doing very different things, as befits their very different series, so I love them both.....
On the Angel plus side I would want to add Damaged to the list of the best, and add Illyria's appearance to Spike adding energy to Angel's last season.
BUT
Then I would have to add Selfless, Storyteller, AND Dirty Girls to the list of Buffy's best from the 7th season, and say how wonderful it was to have Giles back, and Andrew adding to the humor.
I would also give it to Buffy...partly because thre is more I love about BtVS S7 than Ats S5,
also because Buffy's final season really does tie back to the beginning and creates a full arc for the whole concept of the one girl isolated by power.
Angel's final season actually seemed to me to be a big departure from the earlier seasons, it was a wonderful exciting new direction... but it does seem kind of like a stand-alone instead of a tying up of the past
(tho they do get codos for 'Your Welcome' which did go back to the beginning to at least touch on the whole full circle thing)

Okay you are talking true fanatic with these shows. Although I loved them both very much and am very upset when Angel got cancelled I was very upset. It was crazy. I had heard highlights of Joss' plans for the show and for none of that to come to fruition...it was a waste.
For that reason I have to agree with one of the previous posters. It was Buffy that was my favorite, because at least everything was tied up at the end. Angel was rough.

I liked Buffy's season 7 better, I watched Buffy up to season 6 before I even set my sights on Angel, and Buffy's finale closed things up in sunnydale, while still managing to say that "life goes on,"(no pun intended) I think Angel ended a little more openly,

Have you noticed that not much is said as regards season 5 of Buffy, or is that me... I must admit when I watched it I did put the whole thing to bed and unlike many I was relatively happy with its finalé...At the time it rounded off the idea of a Slayer's arc.

oh I really agree; I always found the entire Glory story line to be incredibly lame...
and unfortunately the strongest episode in Buffy's S5 were too sad (ie The Body) to rewatch much.
I could admire the Buffy giving up her life thing,
but I really preferred Buffy sharing her power!

Buffy had earned her rest, she had won the good fight...
But Angel (and Spike and Illyria too) were never going to rest,
there would be no end to their battles.
They had to continue fighting and seeking redemption forever.
(so I thought the ending to Ats S5 was kinda brilliant)

I didn't mean to sound like I thought the ending to Angel was bad,('cause it WASN'T!) Just that I perfer(sp) a little more closure than Angel provided.

well as he was in both it makes it harder ;) he got to be crazy in buffy, which was great, but then he got to be so wonderfully snarky in angel

what does buffy 7 have as equivalant? hordes of nasty teenagers.strangely though smile time isn't one of my reasons for putting it first, it's fun, but once you get over the novelty it isn't a particularly riveting story, and the nina thing annoys me...
plus I think damage dealt with the potential thing much better than any ep. of buffy.
so yeah, those are just a few of my reasons
