Oooh, missed the personal quote thing!
Being an English Litt grad and a pretentious, bookish type I should go with something obscure, philosophical and weighty from a famous author. Someone medieval, or possibly 19th century.
But since I haven't found anything that applies my life motto comes from a song by Dido.

I first heard those words when I was going through a really horrible time in my life. It jolted me into making some serious changes. I even wrote the words in my work diary so I could look at them when I needed reminding why I was going through so much crap to change things. Now whenever I hear that song it always makes me smile - even last week when I felt very crappy and sorry for myself!

On the reverse side, it was actually recommended to me to read the Kama Sutra as a book pertaining to strategy. All is fair in love and war, because apparently, they share the same fundamentals.

CMH - on the question of feeling jealousy and/or rage and/or killing thoughts, I am completely with you on that one. I have actually though about the details of how I would go about torturing and killing a person based on the forensic shows I have seen. I am trying to do away with my jealousy presently, because it causes way too many issues for me. So far I haven't acted on the killing/torture thoughts though. So far. I think it is natural to have the thoughts and the person who told you to ignore/get rid of them, well, I would have some not-nice things to say about them that I will not subject y'all to.
As for my book collection, it is nowhere near what I want it to be. I am like a kid in a candy store when I go into a bookstore, but I never act on it because I know that I will not have the time to devote to reading the books I want to.

Truer perhaps than one might imagine. Pursuit and conquest, plotting and evasion, surrender and submission: the Battle of the Sexes. Politics and strange bedfellows. Yin and Yang. Kama Sutra as strategy, huh? Hmm. Seems more like a tactical manual to me. Tantric Sex would be more of a strategic view...
