I don't think she's that serious with the Immortal either. But in fanfic the guy is always secretly horribly evil and about to do something terrible while Buffy remains completely unaware. I don't think he's like that at all. Buffy is not that dumb, she has pretty good instincts. Plus, the only reason why people think the Immortal is a villian is because Spike and Angel hate him. Their big beef back in the 19th century was that Angel us and Spike wanted to slaughter a bunch of nuns and the Immortal stopped them. Having a threeway with Darla and Dru is weird revenge, but it's still better than murder.

I don't think Buffy will ever get with Xander. Maybe a drunken despressive one night fling...maybe. Girls hardly ever overcome that designated "he's like a brother to me" label they put on guys. I mean, I'm a girl so that's just my observation about life. But what do I know, if I describe a guy as being like my brother, then I mean he's a racist misogynist bigot since my actual brother is an asshole. But typically, girls love guys who are "like a brother to me", but it's hard to make the switch to boyfriend material, because girls generally don't want to have sex with their brothers.

Plus Buffy likes supernaturally-charged sex, which keeps poor Xander out of the running yet again. She tried normal with Riley and that was a mess. Maybe if she attempted normal again, it would be with Xander, but I don't think she's at that point yet.

My point in a Buffy/Xander pairing is that he's got everything she actually needs to be happy (in a relationship). She's always fixated on impossible relationships with men she couldn't possibly have a real future with (Angel,Spike). The one supposedly healthy relationship she had was actually a rebound (Riley). Xander is her best friend, the one who has been with her through thick and thin, good times and bad. She's said it herself, he's her strength. As for her needing supernaturally-charged sex, well, she'll bring that part to the relationship herself. Xander wouldn't mind! Look at the sex life he had with Anya...at 1100 years old, she would know if he were a slouch in that department, yet I don't remember her complaining much.

Anyway, I don't see it happening either. That's just a fantasy for me (and Nick Brendon and SMG, too, apparently since they both approached Joss about it during season 7) that Buffy, eventually, down the line, after she's figured herself out and is mature enough to handle a healthy adult relationship, that she finally look at Xander the way he deserves to be seen, after all these years.
