Hey RIMG, been meaning to ask...who is Mr Hicks and why does he want me to die horribly? Dying from a major asthma attack while having a massive migrane is not my first choice for ways to go.
In bed with Nathan would be my first choice.
Sorry, but I just had to ask.
No need to apologize doll, discussion is what these forums are all about.
Bill Hicks was a comedian who was popular in the States in the late 80s and early 90s (he died in 1994). He was very policital, and against stupidity in general. I could go on and on about some of his routines, but I won't.
Marijuana is better for you than alcohol or cigarettes, yet it is illegal. Zero people every year die from smoking it, and it serves to calm the mood as well as ease pain and other medical benefits. For comparison, cigarettes kill approximately 330,000 and alcohol approximately 80,000 per year in the US alone, and neither has even the remote possibility of being useful for anything.
Just think, if everyone smoked, we would all be a bunch of mellow hungry folks. Who cares if you are in traffic for five minutes longer than you want to be? Who cares about the petty little things that cause huge strife in everyday life? Looking at the big picture is more important, and I personally think that if everyone were required to smoke then life would be simpler. I wouldn't mind my biggest worry being whether to order a large pepperoni or some General Tso chicken.
To address your concerns, smoking of any kind is going to be bad for folks with asthma, but there are other ways of ingesting the chemical without the carcinogens. For example, the boiling point of THC is lower than the flash point for cannabis, so you can vaporize the oils out of the plant without having to burn the leaves/stems/flowers. Also, there are painkillers (such as Maridol) that are made from the chemical that can actually be prescribed. As for the migraines, I do not understand, and would love to hear more from you about it.
Other issues with smoking it: Yes, it does make people somewhat lazy, especially if you are inclined to be that way anyhow. It coats brain cells, which can affect memory and increase reaction time, so doing it while performing dangerous jobs where you need to be alert isn't a good idea.
Sorry for the whinging, but I do feel very strongly on the issue, and now you sort of know why. For more information on Bill Hicks and marijuana I have included some links:

Actually for me, alcohol is the one least likely to kill me. And as I usually don't indulge (I tend to be the DD) it's not likely to, so. Actually the indulge time is during PMS. A glass of something makes me a normal person rather than a bitch from hell who will bit the heads off of whippets. The unfortunate part is that I can't do this before work.
For some strange reason the hospital doesn't want us coming in with alcohol on our breath.

I care about being on the road with someone who is impaired in their judgement and reflexes. My brother was almost killed in an auto accident by someone who was high on pot. The guy was too stoned to realise that the light wasn't in his favor and slammed into my brother's car in an intersection.
Using it, and using it responsibly is a big difference. Please don't think I object to just driving under the influence of drugs. I want much stiffer drunk driving penalties, too. Loss of your driving license should happen the first time. Can't get to work? Too bad. Jail time for any injures or accidents caused. Fatal injuries should be tried as murder, not manslaughter.
Impairment is impairment. No one who is impared be it by drugs or alcohol (or a lack of sleep) should be allowed to operate a motorized vehicle. It's an instant recipie for accidents.

It is most likely part of an allergic reaction, but the migrane portion was always an issue even before the asthma had gotten as bad as it is for me today and the actual pain from it is worse than my PMS migranes. The asthma is most likely the result of my mother being a heavy smoker when she was pregnant with me. (My brother doesn't have asthma, but is prone to bronchitis and pneumonia for the same reason.) I know a few other asthmatics who also get migranes from pot smoke, so this may be linked in some way.
For every object that can gain entry to your body or touch it, there is a percentage of the human population that is going to have either a sensitivity to it or an out-and-out allergic reaction. My point is that saying that 'everyone should be required to have this' is just as bad as saying 'no one should have this ever.' Perhaps a sentiment of 'anyone who wishes to indulge should be free to do so provided they're not infringing on someone else's right not to,' may be more in order? OMG! I'm being politically correct! AAAIIIEEE!!!!

I respect the idea that this should be available to folks for medicinal purposes, and if you want to recreate, fine, just please keep it away from me which is the same thing I request of folks who smoke cigarettes. (Weirdly enough, cigars don't affect me. Dunno why.)
My personal feeling about smoking at all is, that ALL smoking should be banned in public buildings a

Yea Savewash, cities change. I live just north of downtown Milwaukee and they are building highrise condos everywhere. I can't imagine who they get to pay the outlandish prices they are asking for them. They no more than finish one 30 story building and they start another one. The city is even clearing land for more. But the more people you have and the higher cost of the condos means more taxes for the city. So I can't blame them. It is just so congested already. We have three major collages near downtown and the housing is mostly large apartments or condos.
I know what you mean about this thread. It took me two tries to get in. Then it take a good three minutes for it to open. That is why I'm not posting as many pictures as I used to. It takes to long.
I never lived in Lincoln, but when I was only 4 years old I lived in Omaha.
The last 40 years have been in Milwaukee. I can hardly believe I have lived here this long. But I am a draftsman and Milwaukee has plenty of industry to keep me busy so I stay.
Take care compadre.

Forty years?
I sure hope you like Milwaukee. When we first moved here for the spouse's job, I kidded myself that it was only temporary ... but now I'm starting to think I might be here that long or longer. There are good and bad things about that. I just need to concentrate on the good ones. (At least we don't have highrise condos here yet.)
I don't know how anybody has the patience to get into this thread anymore, but I guess I'm one of them! How do we do it? It IS fun, though.

I know. If anyone would have said I would stay here that long I would have laughed at them. Just bringing it up gives away my age. But you get acustomed to the cold winters and the insane collage students staggering down your street trying to find their way home after a night out. I think they stay in groups figuring someone will remember the way. But do they have to sing at 3am in the morning and walk down the middle of the road. Well it keeps your driving skills honed.
If it takes me three or four minutes to get into this thread; how long does it take somebody who has dial-up?

It's recently changed for me. It was taking over an hour and two tries. Yesterday, I doubled the memory in my computer. It's now taking about 5-7 minutes.
D'oh!

I've been to Milwaulkee before. It's a very nice city. I love all the gargoyles and gothic structures.

I can't at work either for the same reason you can't: the internet police are everywhere and they talk to the phone police.
