But honestly, Michael Kamen? I mean he was good and all, but in the top 3? Really? I have never met anyone who liked him that much. (Sorry, but I nicknamed him Michael "No Theme" Kamen.)

Quote:LOL. I have become more lenient on him since his passing--just doesn't feel right to criticize a guy's heartfelt work too harshly when he's no longer with us.

Like I said, I think he's good--Juilliard alumnus and all. Just can't seem to come up with a good running theme, ya know, like Goldsmith or Williams or Poledouris or Zimmer--the greats. Highlander, to give credit where credit is due, was phenomenal partly because Queen wrote compelling themes that Kamen was able to weave into the score. I felt X-Men was a whole lot of lost opportunity. Die Hard and some of his others are good (he's good enough that I buy his soundtracks)--but again, in the top 3? I mean, would you rank anything he wrote up there with Conan the Barbarian/Starship Troopers or The 13th Warrior/Rudy? Maybe we need to start a new thread to discuss this--hate to hijack this one for a film composer discussion.
