for, in the act of not smiling, the smilie provide's contrast, thus defining the smilies which smile, offering them a place in the cosmos, and a purpose. for if the smilie which frowns was no true smilie, the smilies that smile would have nothing to contrast them, and as such, would be purposeless, and would not spread joy, simply because no-one would know they were intended to.
