Lysander was also a famous warrior-king of the Spartans. He died at the battle of Termopolaye. Amazing story that. IF you're interested at all in historical ficiton, Stephen Pressfield wrote an interesting book about it called Gates of Fire.

But Shakespeare is nice too.

Well, usually I'm just Ertia, the opposite of inertia and all, but when I tried to register here the first time, something went wrong and Ertia got stuck. So now, I'm the SameErtia, as in the same old Ertia I've always been. ;)

I use mine on one church forum, two car forums, and no other science fiction forums. I'm a retired pastor from Wisconsin. So? Creativity isn't my specialty. I always say, "God got around to creating everything already. I'm not going to waste His day shooting for original." ;)

Ahhhhhhh, Doncoat, there is no badder astronomer than Phil Plait. Luv him.

After aeons of lurking I was desperate to post some highly significant piece of fluff (no, Joss, not lint, no screaming necessary) and tried to sign on as FloralBonnet, after a favorite line.

Gorram! Didn't work. Taken, I guess, but no longer in use.

Fooey.

Interested less in a creative s/n than in carping the diem, I quickly amended it to FloralBunny, and soon signed on at the Serenity movie board as the same.

I feel a bit stuck with it, but upon reflection I realize it could have been far, far worse.

My sister and I will say to each other "Darlink, that's faaaabulous" in a very Eva Gabore way. I started shortening it to fabu and then fab. When I started watching Firefly I loved Shiny as an original saying. So there ya go.

Bwah!

zoid is a Greek suffix meaning "animal; living being; life". That's why it's uncapitalized. I pronounce it "zo'-id", as opposed to "zoyd".

v/r,
-zed

P.S.
There are many other zoids on the net. I'm none of those. Think of me as a 'protozoid'.

Heard it somewhere once, thought it was pretty.

Everything's shiny, Cap'n. Not to fret.

It's what I seek.

In one sense, I'm looking for our beloved ship to return to us someday, our favorite band of misfits sailing through the black.

In the other sense, it's what I look for in everyday life. The world's too gorram crazy nowadays, and people die of too many stress induced problems. I've realized there ain't nothin' in this world gettin' too high-strung over so ya just gotta settle down and find your own little place of Serenity.

Keep flyin'.

I do say, Everything I thought up was already taken. So, as you can see I got veeeery creative. I lost many nights sleep and stressed long hours to come up with this name.

Most mishaps in aviation and computer interfacing come down to two words:
Pilot Error.
I'd just found this site & wanted to get involved,
so I typed my standard username of MAGHAFFAR,
but was planning on using "Crazy Ivan"
as a s/n 'cuz I love things that fly [planes, spaceships, etc/]
plus I knew that "barn swallow" and "crazy ivan" were both flying jargon --
love Wash's line: "Here's something you can't do." -- anyway, Pilot Error
intervened in my attempt to edit / change my s/n after I'd entered MAGHAFFAR,
so there it remains.
Oh, the "m" is for Mohammad, the "A" is for Abdul. Ghaffar is the last name.
