yes i completely understand, im so thankful for this thread. i love the funny lines i really do, but the lines that get you , that make you well up.
the entire last half an hour of the film like you said is just so emotional, i havent watched it yet without tears, the music that starts at the funeral scene and carries right on til mal and river are talking is just so beautiful
"Dear diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today we were kidnapped by hill folk, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

I love all of the tear jerkers mentioned. What a series.
Actually, if you consider angst, I like the Inara bits in "Our Mrs. Reynolds", when she's so bent out of shape about Mal being "married". She snaps at him, more severely than normal. It's one of the few times she loses her cool, especially when Mal asks if she can picture him with a bunch of kids.
Later, as was already mentioned, when Inara tries to hide the fact that she kissed Mal when he was unconcious, that was priceless.
Also, at the end of that episode, when Joss teases us with Mal approaching Inara, and telling her not to kid around. She's completely defenseless at that point, and you just *know* some truth is about to be spoken about their feelings for each other. Then Mal is a typical guy, and says "I knew you kissed her!". Idiot! I loved it!

Bingo....that's the one. Having gone through more than a few deaths of friends and family...i can honestly say, no truer words were ever spoken than..."everybody dies alone..."

Not sure whether it was mentioned before in this particular thread, but there's one in HoG that got me -- more the first time I saw it than on subsequent viewings, because it was so totally unexpected.
When Inara scolds Mal about not being prudish, telling him she's glad he slept with Nandi, I totally bought it, just as Mal did. So when we see her in the next scene crying her pretty little eyes out... wham. Lost it.

I don't disagree on any particular point.

Operative
' Theres nothing more to see. '
All that confidence, all that pride in what he belived in, gone like disco.
Book
'I dont care what you belive, just belive it'
Perhaps misqouted but the gist really got me.
Early
'Well, here I am.'
Maybe because it was the last episode of a series aborted for the likes of OC or Charmed. Or maybe because its is cry of a concept that is still there and not going anywhere.
Plus Early, everybodies favourite off his head, dog dissecting maybe 'special' bounty hunter.
Wash
' I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar.'
DAMMN IT JOSS STOP KILLING TARA\WES\WASH\FRED\JOYCE\BOOK\DOYLE your really hurting me here.

Absolutely love River's monologue in Objects in Space....
"I'll be your bounty, Jubal Early. And I'll just fade away."
Gets me every time, I love it, it's so pretty.

There's two lines/scenes that get me from the BDM hasn't been mentioned yet and I have no idea why. Maybe it's the expression on River's face in the first one.
River: It's not safe
Simon: No, I fear it's not safe anymore.
River: For them.
Gets me every damn time.
Then there's Kaylee's little throwaway line when her and Jayne are in the cargo bay.
Kaylee: Just like Inara....
*sob*
I don't care what you believe in, just believe in it.

Did not see this one posted, though I may have missed it...
Kaylee's line "That's my girl...that's my good girl" as she lovingly touches Serenity (from Serenity pt 2). Gets me all teary-eyed.
Holding until you get back, Captain.
