Joss still seeking Serenity

I've been a fan since I heard Joss was making a new show about space stuff. I'm a sucker for the black I suppose. I remember distinctly the moment when I got excited about the show. If you never saw the promos, then you missed this. They had all this action stuff going on, clips from the pilot, and it ended with Serenity barely missing the Reaver ship and cut to Jayne and Kaylee in the engine room and Jayne standing up heroically with his fist raised. It was at that moment that I knew Firefly was going to be pretty cool. Like the first few bars of a concert that give you the chills.

In the ten minutes a day I'm not thinking about how great Firefly and Serenity , or using voodoo to destroy the Fox infrastructure, I teach rhetoric and public address. I also do a lot of running, which helps me deal with my Fox-related tension. I have a wife that also loves FF/S and a two and a half year old daughter that is magnificent.

I live in west-central Texas. I love hot weather, and NO I don't mean warm. I mean hot, like surface of the sun hot. I play the guitar sometimes, bass sometimes, and the steering wheel drums all the time. I love to read, mostly fiction and lots of historical fiction (I'm reading Colleen McCullough's series on Marius, Sulla, and Caesar right now, if that's up your alley you need to get it now!).

I also love music. If Firefly was a band, it would be U2. They're the greatest band around. If you're a fan, you might try http://www.U2liveshows.com for other great fans. I also love Coldplay (saw them in Dallas, outstanding), Stavesacre, King's X, Allison Kraus and Union Station, ZZ Top, and a host of others.
