Misunderstood moments in the series or movie

River goes loopy in Shindig, when Jayne, Simon and book are playing cards. She starts ripping the labels off the food cans because of the Blue Sun label. Jaynes comment makes me laugh 'We gonna play cards or screw around' :D

The repetition of that is starting to get on my nerves, but it's just so succinct, and if you read my posts you'll understand that I am so very rarely succinct. I mean it crams everything you need to know into four words and one comma. (The period isn't actually necessary to the meaning.)
You are welcome, we, and I, welcome you and await all that you have to say. And of course we are a semi-merry consortium (fun word I don't get to use often) of people who are all separate from normal, though in a seemingly (but far from) infinite number of ways, and that of course is a good thing. (Have you ever met normal people? They're so bland.)
In fact we are different from normal to a higher degree than most, which is even better.
All of that in four words, even though saying it is getting repetitive I can't come up with a better alternative.
I really don't have much more to say, but it would be wrong not to welcome someone new just because of that. Each new person is a gift, something to be cherished because each of you makes our group that much better, and thus each of you deserves an individual welcome.
Also the fact that a new person is a gift given to us by the person him or her self, I mean it wasn’t god or some such that made you decide to post, it was you. Thanks for that.
Oh yeah, spread the word, and make sure you keep on posting, we always want to know what people think.

I like this idea of Book's line having multiple implications. Referring to his past, specifically, I thought that this gave some indication into his employment from a time and place he might be running from. But, i think it can also be applied to how Book feels about River's and Jayne's respective realities. I seem to be drawn to this plane where Whedon's multiple meanings often converge on each other. If that specific situation has anything to do with how Book's thought is actually triggered in this moment, then all of these implications seem to have validity. Is any one out there crazy enough to think that Book might have had something to do with the experiments done on River back at the "academy." That would be insane. Just thinking out loud.

In OIS I didn't figure out how Kaylee actually freed herself. It wasn't until my fourth or fifth time watching the episode that I saw the little gripper inconspicuously lying behind her right at the perfect spot to cut the ties with it.
