Things happen for a reason; thanks Fox, you morons- no, really, thanks!

By cancelling Firefly, Fox forced Joss to jam a season's worth of drama and discovery into one two hour movie. It is the most densely packed, character-driven sci-fi film I have ever seen.
Joss has made arguably one of the best genre films in history. Sure, a series was what we all would've wanted, but the movie will be a benchmark for all time. He did the impossible.

Anakin WHO?

LOL no its just a quiet weekend me thinks..

I think there is some validity to your comments.. I like Firefly and Serenity because the stories are good and because it is about PEOPLE... the original Star Wars were great because you CARED about the ppl.. the last three less so, because they sacrificed story and ppl for fx... Ewan McGregor is a HELL of an actor.. they should have used him to more advantage.. they didnt. What a waste.

Firefly/Serenity succeeds on so many levels.. they made a far more engaging story/film for a lot less money.. I guess it is possible!

Yeah, if you don't care about the characters, it's just a theme park ride :)

Well, I kind of agree with you.

While I would have LOVED to see more of Firefly as a TV series (maybe put back on the air...), if it did I doubt I would ever have found it. It's true.

I don't watch much Fox at all. Seriously, I only watch... nothing on it now. I was converted with seeing the preview for the movie (and this was early, in April or something), and then I had friends online tell me about it. :)

I saw the first few episodes on the Sci-fi Channel, (I missed Serenity and The Train Job, so I saw Bushwhacked, Shindig, and Safe) and I couldn't wait anymore for Friday, so I got the box set. And the rest is history.

Point is, the movie made a major browncoat out of me (even if it was just the preview).

Same here. I convinced my friend to go with me to Serenity, being that I heard it was a good movie, and now both of us love it. I went out and tried to get Firefly all across my city, but couldn't because it was sold out and had to wait a week. For the last four weeks I have been a huge Firefly/Serenity fan buying anything I can find relating to it. And I'll be a Browncoat for life.

It seems these days unless its more of the same old reality TV rubbish, then it doesnt do well on TV.

Fox should be ashamed of them selves for messing this great show up. I really am sad that we are unlikely to get any more of the series. Firefly is such good sci-fi drama and it has this nice quality to it.

It has a way of making you care for the characters like no other TV show.

The movie was really good but it's sad that they had to kill off pilot.

Now that stargate SG1 doesnt have Jack O'neil and FarScape has ended, add that to Firefly being cancelled, I feel im lacking a Decent Sci-fi in my life.

I hate the fact that the sereis was unable to propperly explore the character arches. it was just getting interesting and we had it pulled out from under our feet. Damn Fox.
I shall get revenge on thee. when you least expect it.

Payback will involve lots of spoons being inserted in un-natural places.

you have been warned.
