an earlier time

sometimes I feel like I should have been born in an earlier time. I think what really drew me to firefly was the shows dirt. nothing was new or shiny and the old things had come again. I felt that I could live there. I would understand the things going on around me without a huge amount of education. (except for the Chinese) I have watched every episode 30 times or more. frequently I would pause the show to read something in the background or look at some interesting idea. I really loved it when I saw the firefly in battlestar galactica. muhahahaha first blog entry of 2015...victory is mine sayeth...uh...me

How to fail at marketing in 2015
Monday, 05 January 2015 13:02:14

There aren’t many quicker ways to getting yourself blackballed by consumers than by misleading them in one way or another. You’ll also quickly get yourself in hot water with the Federal Trade Commission, which holds marketers and advertising agencies accountable for any and all marketing claims they make. Case in point: In 2012, Nutella maker Ferrero USA, Inc. paid out $3.05 million as part of a settlement for a class action lawsuit filed by a parent who told CBS News, “[I] was duped into believing it was good for [my] kids.” Advertisements claimed Nutella could be part of a “healthy breakfast,” though in reality a single serving contains 200 calories, 21 grams of sugar, and 11 grams of fat. “Nutella was in fact not a ‘healthy’ ‘nutritious’ food,” the parent said,” but instead was the next best thing to a candy bar.” Every claim you make on the web will spread like wildfire, so be sure you fact check before pressing “send,” “post,” or “tweet.” Ignore social media Having a Facebook page and a Pinterest profile and a Twitter site won’t guarantee you massive dividends, but they will show you’re staying with the times. If people want to connect with you via social media platforms, they should be able to do so easily. If your site doesn’t come up when a customer asks Siri to look for you, their business will go to someone else. Organic reach of social media is, admittedly, low, but it’s far from negligible. In addition to helping consumers find you, social media helps you pinpoint who your true audience is. Steve Olenski, a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Digital & Social Media Marketing explained, “These types of online communities allow a company to better identify their audience, and create marketing content which closely aligns with the needs of their customers.” Neglect the advancement of your mobile marketing strategies With the mobile market getting bigger every day, only marketers who truly want to fail would neglect updating their apps or ensuring their web pages are mobile friendly. If you have the extra spending money and haven’t done so already, 2015 would be a great time to create your own mobile app users can download to their devices and then use to make their experience with your brand more enjoyable. One thing consumers love more than apps: coupons. So combine the two. “By giving customers rewards through customer referral and loyalty programs,” Olenski said, “you’re incentivizing your customer base to spread the word and keep coming back for the products they love. rageing at the damn red sun rising
Wednesday, 07 January 2015 09:04:47

inevitability has a veery ominous and final feel to it. sitting here thinkifying on my long and twisty road, I get a shiver at some of the things I done did. wasted youth and terrible choices are part of growing up but did I have to make so zuzhòu many of them? I found out today that to the greater verse I am obese...not surprising since I am a curious mix of gamer/hunter/survivalist. wishing to correct such a thing will require more will power and fortitude than I currently possess. I am willing to give it a try though. I have flown long enough and far enough to outrun the suns...that's right...all of them.

I, Reaver (A story idea)
Saturday, 17 January 2015 02:55:33

We have all heard of The Reavers, the flesh-eating, skin-wearing, rapist cannibals from the show Firefly. This story will explore a character who fought on the Alliance side of the Battle of Serenity Valley, and he is assigned on a mission to a planet which is god-knows-how long from where he lives, so he'll be alone on a ship with only a handful of food and some communication devices. But, this guy has been afraid of The Reavers ever since he heard bedtime stories of them as a little kid, so understandably he is a little nervous when he finds out he is on course to their territory. And when The Reavers come aboard his ship, oh boy, then the real story begins Now, I have always wanted to write a story which explores the psychology of a villain and i think a Reaver would be the perfect opportunity for it. What do you guys think?

Firefly cartoon (on youtube now)
Wednesday, 21 January 2015 06:14:20

Hi everybody. I started a firefly RPG adventure for my son. In an attempt to make it educationally in addition to entertaining, I also have been showing him how to make it into a simple cartoon. (in my sig if you want to check it out) Im no animator, but im hoping just showing him the steps to video production might kindle an interest in him and he may pick this up as a hobby. thats all kinda beside the point though The story, that is the heart of what I am doing. Id'e like to post story ideas (and cannon plots) for feedback to be looked at by other browncoats. Heres what we got so far, Episode 1 I did a "rolling start" to kinda catch everyone off guard. No 5 min of saying stuff like , "you all meet in a bar and the captain asks for volunteers to fly on his firefly." Nope, I just started talking. :) Said "You find yourself in a church you have never been before" I think it worked out pretty well for a surprise opener, and caught everyone off guard. Basicly the party had been split in 2, (before the episode began) and one of them was in this church, looking for someone they had to kidnap. They had no back story, and didn't know why they were doing what they were doing. Things started getting weird in the church and it became obvious that the religious place was being mis used for evil. Right when things started getting weird in the church, we jumped to the other half of the party. They were flying a MULE with an experimental engine which allowed it to fly 30 ft up. The engineer had to keep making skill checks to keep it functioning, or they would have to drop back down to ground level. The captain, a man named "Jayne" told the pilot to stop and then hooked a chain into his harness and jumped off the MULE What no one knew (save the captin I guess) was that they were over the church Jayne crashes through the ceiling, breaking up the Cult service, and tackles the cult leader. The member of our party who was in the service was then reminded (by a flashback) that he needed to get a harness on one of the people in the church, and then bet both of them out of there. The MULE pulls Jane, the party member, and kidnap victim up through the roof, and church is dismissed. All the cult members and their leader take off after the MULE in small planetary craft, however the experimental engine is keeping the thing 30 foot in the air and out of their reach (they are also reminded in a flashback right then that this providence has outlawed the use of fire arms, so Jayne didn't let ANYONE bring a gun. Thats good, because the cult members don't have guns either. The chace runs through an apple orchard, mistakes are made, forest fire breaks out, and our heroes end up back at ground level. The mad cap adventure continues with our good party picking off cultists one at a time as they race for the safety of the Firefly. They get there, board, but have to wait for the cargo door to shut, allowing the last handful of cultists on board. Real combat breaks out, but ends with the bad guys being thrown off the ship. In an epilogue (like a cut scene where the players don't get to role play) Cap Jayne calls the father of the young man they kidnapped. Long story short (Patty Hearst story) The father was rich and the boy was selected for the cult so they could get his money. The father decides to teach his son a lesson and tells Jayne to keep his son as free labor, he does this to get out of paying Jayne's recovery fee. The episode ends with Jayne breaking a pair of pink handcuffs (hey it was the only pair he had handy) so they are stuck on the hostage's right arm. He can't remove them, so he is stuck with a pair of pink handcuffs permanently on his arm as a mark of shame until he pays off his debt to Jayne. Jayne states (during the conversation with the hostage's father) that he doesn't have enough fuel or money to leave the system they are in (not specified yet) The crew decides they wil

The moon

Well as, i sit back, in me chair , staring out inta the black, my mind goes a wandering, after surviving all wat went on, looking back, mal thought, i shuld have settled back on Zana, and cultivated me self and land there, (hands clasped behind head and pulling half me mouth up), it all went black and i felt the surge of our forward movement stop, and me gut told me we were a drifting and rolling to port side, " Kaley!!!!...", rolling me eyes, i thought id best go check, this old girl.....seemed to be breaking down alot these past few trips, 2 trips back was our worst.... "Hey cap.." jayne said as he poked his head up, from his room, " whats be happening? we going to die again".........Mal gave him a disgruntled loook as he held the rails , as he made his way to the engine room. "No not today jayne, maybe next thursday , if its ok with you". As Mal, worked his way along, he herd two thumps, from the rooms below deck, And the Owes, as zoe and Wash, hit the floor, Mal chuckled as he thought, woo must been rough landing for them, serves em right for too much bunk time. This trip they were taking Serenity on, was far out into the black, heading for Forsabien, the 5th moon, that glides around Planet Astros. Another forsaken back street job, jobs seem to be slakin these kinda days.....seemed to be kickin there heels in.....low areas of space ports and stations, going on verbal, hints of jobs. None payed off, mmm maybe this one will, can but hope, mal thought to his lonesome. The lights came back on, and Serenity righted her self, lucky mal kept the auto engaged. Mal knocked and entered kayleys domain (engine bay)......" Raising his eyebrows and smiling..hiya so whats a foot".....kayley was bent over in a cabinet, " ah a foot cap, 12 INCHES" As she came out with oil splatted on her face. Mal rolled his eyes, " should i call the Doc ?" "why cap " said kayley with a sideways look as she wiped er tools down whilst placing them in her tool tray. Mall nodded towards her face and grinned. Kayley next started to wipe her new make up off. Simon walked in with river not too far behind...kayley wiped the engine oil off her face as best she could turning so simon couldnt see. Rivers head, emerged into the rooms doorway, from above, Mal turned and nearly jumped a mile as his arms raised half way and he jolted back, " cwhides, girl, do you hafta do thet, you trying to spook us". Simon smiled.....River spoke.....Must land soon shes a dyin, Kayley raised eyebrows with a smile..."who river ".. "no ones a dying " said mal....giving the descending river a one eyed look. Simon....enquired..."kayley, so whats ..." MAl boomed in raising his head " yes so why were we drifting, why you drifting us " ....."not me cap " kayley replied...." its her...she be telling me while, need new n.r.n valve , cant be a fixing much long" ....mal shrugged , "told you back in Rammergoon cap , remember". Images flashed back of Ramagoon.....city's suspended abve the sea from one central land pillar, "well kaley , didnt have time to hang about there". "Never do at any good places" replied kayley. The engines died agin, and they all put arms out as Serenity, lurched to starboard, and rolled, "wASH " A few mins later after wash had climbed out of there room, and up to the cockpit, serenity took on a more stable attitude as wash leveled her out with the bypass thruster`s. All went black.....as a big dark shadow enveloped the Firefly....as it slid silentl into a big oval opening manny sizes bigger then serenitys size.
