News from my 'verse
Sunday, 03 January 2010 22:27:35

2010 has started, Happy New Year everybody! The biggest news from my personal place in the world is, that I will be a member of the Signal crew as writer and editor this upcoming season. Should any of you not know: The Signal is a podcast dedicated to Firefly and Serenity (what else? ;) ) and has been flyin' for five years already. If you are into podcasts, check it out. It is really great and has a lot of stuff interesting for browncoats: news, interviews, music, original mini auido-plays, reviews etc. You can find their website here:

Who thinks Rihanna rocks? And other things.
Monday, 04 January 2010 01:05:09

Okay, i have "Rated R", am planing on FINALLY buying her other albums, have registered the CD i bought, have gotten the newsletter for Rihanna, and am going on all her sites. I just LOVE rihanna. I admit it, i have a crush on the girl. But alas i'm hoping for the stars. See, i'm a tall, big guy. Yes i admit it, i'm fat, BUT I'M WORKING ON IT. Seriously, i have gone from 310-320 this time last year to around 280. And i feel so much better. I still have a long way to go, but i'm getting my butt out and running now, when it's not below 40 degress, and i'm doing more than running. But even then, i can't neet her, i can't talk to her, hell i don't know her besides what she let's through in interviews, and her KICK BUTT songs. Guys, from fellow Browncoat, to fellow Browncoats, can ya give me any advice. I mean i accept that i'll most likely never meet her, and i'm okay with that, but i just need help with losing weight. I want to loose the weight for myself. I hope to get a good job, be smart with my money, and make lifelong friends. I would also like to become a singer, but i can't write songs, and i'm not sure how my voice sounds. Any advice? Much appreciated.

Zeth the fight
Monday, 04 January 2010 07:03:28

After revival of wash zeth started his mission. So zeth and wash headed towards the planet with serenity. Zeth examined the crew to see where they would be heading so he can prepare. zeth found a spot where the crew would walk so he buried himself underground, so he can plan a sneak attack. Once the crew passed over him, he rised from the sands, but with river's mind reading she easily blocked the attack. When zeth and river were evenly match blow for blow, the others were watching in amazement. Once zeth realised the fight was pointless he jumped into the air to get away from river to call wash to pick him up and be carefull and then went back to fighting. Once wash appeared with the ship he jumped on top of his ship and said later. At that moment mal caught a glimpse of wash before they took off.

Firefly Marathon
Monday, 04 January 2010 15:15:58

On Saturday, starting bright and early at 8:15, my brother-in-law, sister and boyfriend all watched every single episode of Firefly and the movie nonstop all day! It was totally awesome!!!! Did you know that there is one shot of Serenity flying through space that is used in almost every episode? It was a good day.

Browncoat on the radio Tue. Jan.5 on KCAA 1050-am
Tuesday, 05 January 2010 05:46:57

I'll be doing the on-air duties for our 10-min. segment of "Understanding Islam" on KCAA 1050-AM radio. If you are in the So-Cal area in San Bernardino area, you should be able to hear the show fine. Otherwise, you can also go online to www.kcaaradio.com and click either the "listen live" button or the "watch TV" button, which will show the webcam shot of the studio. Since I haven't as et written the show I'm supposed to be hosting, I can't exactly tell you if there will be any FFisms parlayed for the fans of the 'Verse who might be listening. -- Jonathan M.A.Ghaffar P.S. Would help to give the approximate TIME of our 10-min. segment. . . We usually come on between 9:20am and 9:30am. We've been averaging 12-14 minutes per segment instead of the official 10-minutes we've paid for, but shiny is as shiny does. also, the archived shows are the Morning Show with Paul... but it used to be called The Baxter in the Morning Show, so the podcast will still list the show (which airs from 9-10am M-F) as "Baxter in the Morning."

Zeth after the fight
Thursday, 07 January 2010 16:10:07

After the fight with river, zeth went back to the alliance lab to recover from the fight. While he was in the healing tank he started thinking about river an awful lot. Once out the of the healing tank he felt so much pain. He started scream in a demonlike voice and the mind control device on zeth was broken, scienctist could explain what was going on, then after a few more seconds he fainted. In the dream zeth wonders whats going on, then shepperd appeared before him an said you must stop the alliance, stop attacking serenity and join them instead. zeth replies I can't its in my programing. Then shepperd says why don't you use that brain of yours and reprogram yourself, then zeth says as you wish. Zeth then awakes inside the healing tank and he sees scientist working on him. Zeth says these people why do they want river so much why can't they people like us alone, since that is there goal I now have my own as well but first I need to reprogram myself.

Hardpan Brainpan
Friday, 08 January 2010 06:23:37

This accurately describes the state of my brain lately. And the state of my (writers block), sad to say, on one little tiny part of Albatross, for those who saw the first of that more than a month ago and wondered where it got to. I've got a whole bunch ready, I've just got to get that part out of the way. In the meantime, if you're in a mood for humor, Ice Cream Social is up. According to Webster's (y'all love them fancy books where they got the words in 'em, don't ya?) HARDPAN(n): 1. A layer of hard subsoil or clay. Also called caliche. 2. Hard, unbroken ground. 3. A foundation; bedrock. Yeah, so all of the above should be pretty satisfactory to say that although BEFORE my beloved brainpan fit definition #2, I've actually posted something so I treat the dry calcified grey matter as #3, a foundation, the AFTER stage of my miraculous As Seen On TV non-procrastination diet. As in golf, it's always harder to hit from hardpan. But I'mma gonna do it. So stay tuned, sportsfans, because there's more to see.

A late happy new year!
Friday, 08 January 2010 08:09:50

I am so far out in the middle of gorram nowhere that I am just now getting internet service up and running! It's like I jumped out of the sky and landed on my ass in the middle of Whitefall. Seriously. I've been fighting with people for a solid month to get internet and phone. My cell phone won't work. The AT & T phone that I bought to use out here because people said they were the only ones that work reliably only works in patches. I might as well be in space... Happily, though, the communications problem has been solved. Now I can relax and enjoy the beautiful country. I do love it. I could settle down if I had a mind to settle somewhere. It's cold and quiet in the Texas hill country tonight. There are deer in my back yard. I could shoot at 'em off my porch but my neighbors probably wouldn't appreciate it. It's 2 am, after all. They definitely wouldn't like it, but they'd understand. And having people understand me is kind of nice for a change! Anyway, hope you and yours are finding the new year prosperous and happy.

Was it Ski?
Friday, 08 January 2010 18:19:12

If you have read my last chapter in the Early Years, the answer is yes...it was Ski, though neither of them remember the other in their future meetings. I mostly added him for two reasons...one to show that he was involved in the war, though not as a Browncoat exactly and just to add a bit of fun to the story to see if you are really reading. This is the only appearance he makes, but I thought it a rather fun little add. As to Jane's quarry...she has always been in love with Mal. Ski and she married simply to save her life, even though she developed feelings later. Something tells me though...it ends well for all involved. I know...her last chapter is already written. Thanks for riding and may 2010 be full of more fan fic adventures from all my favorite authors!!

updating the update
Sunday, 10 January 2010 00:01:07

Okay. Shiny new job went poof the day after Thanksgiving. New job is not so shiny, but pays. Isn't there an old adage about not mentioning your good fortune? It's the bleak midwinter here, cold and snowy. Pretty much standard fare for this neck of the woods. The muse is not interested in furthering my fanfic, and I'm still OK with that for now. She knows where to find me if she changes her mind. I've got some decisions to make about work and going back to school and how much of which, and what and where. You know, trivial things that don't affect the family at all.. :banghead: I need to learn some appropriate Mandarin.

Non-cheesecake!
Sunday, 10 January 2010 03:07:45

I mentioned that I was trying a lot of vegan recipes for the holidays, here's one that turned out really well. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius or gas mark four). Get your crust ready in whatever way you want it, gluten and dairy free, crushed nuts, or buy a pre-made graham cracker crust (I've found ones without dairy or honey, just look at the ingredients). Then get a large bowl, and put in 24 ounces (690 g) of nondairy cream cheese, 6 tablespoons (90 mL) of water, 4 1/2 teaspoons (20 g) of egg replacer. Beat the mixture until creamy. Add 1 cup (200 g) of granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) of vanilla, and 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of lemon juice to the mixture, and beat again for about 30 seconds or until the batter is smooth. Don't overbeat the batter, because it could put too much air into it. Pour the batter into the prepared crust, smooth the top, then bake 50 to 55 minutes. The top of the cake might puff up out of the crust, but it should settle back down as it cools, and the center shouldn't be too runny, it should jiggle only slightly when moved. The edges should start to turn lightly golden brown. Let it cool for an hour, then refrigerate for at least two hours. If you want to make a regular cheesecake, substitute 3 eggs for the Egg Replacer and regular cream cheese. Though I haven't tried making a regular cheesecake yet, and I don't know if the substitutions work.

Trying to be Annie
Monday, 11 January 2010 00:03:59

Okay ... I started writing fanfiction again. Leverage fanfiction, to pass the time till the new season starts (Wednesday ... Yay!). The story is a casefic, so it involves the whole team, but has a strong focus on Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane's character), because I just can't get enough of that guy currently. And it has a MarySue character in it as well ... meet Annie, the owner of a nice little organic food store who gets into trouble with the evil foodchain competitor. Writing a Leverage casefic is harder than I thought, actually. Nate, the mastermind of the team, always comes up with very clever cons in the original scripts. I am no criminal mastermind. Plus I don't live in the United States and can only guess how all the bureaucratic and legal loopholes he likes to use work. Muddy waters, indeed. But on the other hand, if you have a team like that at your disposal, what can possibly go wrong? (Well, a lot, that's what makes the episodes interesting after all, and that's what keeps my story going as well). But I'm really getting into this. And while I don't own an organic food store, I at least work at one and writing this story has made my past workweek so much brighter and more exciting. The Annie from the story is a very lovable and cheerful character who manages to make everyone feel better, especially her customers, no matter how bad and stressful and hopeless things seem to become for her. And as a reward she gets Eliot Spencer as a different kind of knight ... So I kept telling myself: if I am only nice enough to my customers and manage to make their days a bit brighter, maybe I will end up with Eliot Spencer walking right into my little shop, making my day. He didn't, of course. But at least our parcel delivery guy showed up and complimented me on my cheerfulness (and for the first time got my name right ... *sigh*). Not much resemblance with Christian Kane, I'm afraid, except for the haircut, but one has to appreciate the basic enjoyments of life. So that's me ... being Annie. You can find the story at:

Out of Touch
Tuesday, 12 January 2010 00:30:22

Cat 1313 and I are going to be out of touch for a month due to some finance issues. I hope to be back within a month and have some new adventures waiting in the wings. I will miss you all, but still have the Series and BDM to keep me company!!

"I read the manual."
Tuesday, 12 January 2010 19:45:46

It's a post-holer. Digging holes for posts. I read the manual. Always do. Winging it, because there is so much outside the lines to color. Like tears in rain. That's how I roll. Yeah. My only question is, what if there's no posts? Beam me up, Serenity. I want to go home.

Wednesday, 13 January 2010 05:21:34

I haven't been around much lately and here's why. I've had this nagging, persistant cough for a long while. Maybe since having the flu in early October. My doctor and I have been slowly going through the stock of the drug store trying to get it under control. I've had antihistimines up the wazoo in case it was an allergy, antibiotics because even I suspected it was either a sinus or bronchial infection left over from the flu. In fact, I actually felt good for about a week or so after the antibiotics Then came the cold weather that's been around for about a week and half. Eastern NC is normally quite temperate during January with an average high of 50 and very brief periods of cold. All those records have been shattered in the past week and half. One morning it was even in the single digits when the wind chill was factored in. Around here we're used to factoring in the humidity, not a wind chill. During this cold spell my cough got a lot worse. I would have spells that lasted for 20-30 minutes of just body shaking coughing and feeling like I was going to throw up. It would usually end with a tightening in my chest right. And I would gasp for a second or two, try to keep myself calm and it would go away in 10-15 seconds. It would get worse right after lunch and continue into the early evening. BTW it was so cold and the cold would start me coughing again so I've been trying to ride my bicycle indoors. Usually accompanied by breaks for coughing. After getting concerned looks and homemade recipes for coughs I finally called my doctor again Monday afternoon after a particularly bad bout. She wanted to see me immediately. It was the first time I've gone directly into an exam room right after checking in. I had my preliminaries with the nurse and had a round of coughing right before she was took my blood pressure. It was off the scale for me. I normally have a very low blood pressure 110/70 is normal. Mine was 160/80. The doctor came in and we had a talk about my symptoms and I started to cough again. She pulled out her stethoscope and listened right when I was coughing almost in her face. I did manage to turn my head away from her for a bit. She said she was going to "pull out the big dogs" if we couldn't get the coughing under control. And I got a new diagnosis of "bronchial spasms" and two prescriptions, one for prednisone (first time user) and an albuterol inhaler. Today I was a bit better. The inhaler seemes to control the coughing somewhat effectively and I started what I call the "prednisone slam". 6 tablets of prednisone over one day. I'll be tapered off over 6 days, Both taste bad but the inhaler especially is vile. Now I know what my Mom went through during the last 10 years of her life. She had bad COPD (chronic bronchittis and emphesmia) and even had a nebulizer (it makes the medication into a vapor that's easier to breathe in). Hopefully this combo will work. I do feel somewhat better but that could be the placebo effect. Only time will tell. Post Script It's amazing how similar folk remedies for sicknesses are the same half a world a part. Here's my great grandmothers cough remedy: Honey, lemon juice and a jigger of bourbon mixed with some hot water. Here''s the remedy given to me by an Indian co worker, from half a world away: Take a cup of boiling water. Add whole cloves to it. Let it steep and cool until drinkable and strain the cloves out of the water and drink the water. Follow it with some very good honey as honey cleanses the body.

Another satisfied customer - loaned SERENITY out, they loved it.
Wednesday, 13 January 2010 06:08:17

Loaned a copy of my DVD out, to an individual who really isn't all that much into sci-fi, but still enjoys a good movie. 4 + years after the fact, and still finding folks who'd never heard of our little ship and her crew. Better late than never, I suppose.

Jayne Hat Xmas gift!!!!!
Thursday, 14 January 2010 01:48:30

So my wonderful Browncoat Boy got me a Jayne hat for Christmas and I got it yesterday. And it is so totally cunning!!! It came in a box stamped from various planets in the verse, filled with straw and the handwritten letter from Ma Cobb! How wicked is that? I'm so excited about it! *hugs the hat tightly* It's absolutely perfect.

Raleigh NC - CSTS-2010

This year, I will be "Zoe" to Jim's "Mal" for the Raleigh CSTS job. I'll wave soon when I have more info...

Joss just can't help himself, can he ?
Saturday, 16 January 2010 01:59:14

It's been often pointed out, that Joss LOVES to off beloved characters. So, I was thinking about that very topic today, and it hit me....he REALLY loves doing that. And it's not just a particular style or way of telling a story, but truly something which seems to be in his very fiber. W/ out going over the entire library of Joss's offings, just look at the movie. There's Book & Wash, obviously. Kaylee and Simon both get shot. Mal gets run though w/ a sword. A SWORD! And just for good measure, the SHIP gets it! Did I leave anyone out ? After everything I saw from Buffy and Angel, and then the movie, I'm sort of glad we didn't see our beloved crew members get knocked off, one by one, until only ....what, the new Mule was left ? Also, per the whole gut wound thing. I had a big problem w/ the movie. Now, back when Kaylee got shot by Dobson, she needed IMMEDIATE medical help. And later on, in SAFE, Book was in much the same boat. But Captain gets run clean though w/ a sword - about the same place he got shot in OoG, as I recall, and he not only continues to fight the Operative, WINS, but has enough to walk on up and see what's up w/ the rest of the crew. Come again ? Did I miss the director's note, where they specifically commented on that minor detail ? Because I know they edited part of the fight scene out, to make the injury less obvious and graphic... Was that because it stretched the bounds of credibility , even for the movie, or what ? Details like that do annoy, from time to time.

Valentines-y
Saturday, 16 January 2010 02:56:19

So I have another, more involved project I'm thinking of doing for Valentines, after I get my ass in gear on Eidolon. But, as some of you know, I play the Sims and I made realistic likenesses of the crew. I put this together today. There's affectionately sarcastic audio with this slideshow, so get out the headphones or turn your volume down. Don't want any heart attacks or blown out eardrums.

Just saw that Google Chrome has Firefly/ Serenity themes !
Sunday, 17 January 2010 23:12:39

 And they rotate w/ different images! How cool is that ?

Albatross Up and Running
Monday, 18 January 2010 04:29:47

From here on out, should be smooth sailing. Or flying. Now, I don't normally make a log just as a shameless plug for a fic, but that's what this is. Anyone looking for salacious details on my personal life will be sorely disappointed. For those who have been interested (or will be interested) in ALBATROSS, I wanted to let you know that from now on, there should be a regular posting schedule. None of those petty fly-by-night operations that always get ya caught in the lurch. As before, questions, comments and wacky speculation are highly encouraged. Now go discuss like crazy Epileptic Trees!

Need help
Thursday, 21 January 2010 06:27:36

I am having a crisis. Not in faith, at least not in our big damn shiny show, and not in my taste in shows, because all of the shows that I watch are either popular, or ones that evoke in me a passionate response, such as the one that I know that I share with all other Browncoats. I believe that Firefly is a fantastic show. I refer to it in the present tense because, for me, Firefly is still a living and breathing entity of great quality. Plus, I am currently catching up on The Signal and Fireflytalk podcasts, and so, for me, there is still new material being found in the 'verse. I started listening to the aforementioned podcasts late, relative to their creation, but it has reawakened my love for Firefly, which had lain dormant for a number of years, until I finally cracked the seal on my treasured, but unwatched, Firefly DVD set. Watching the shows again, some of them unaired, of course, and so, for me, seen for the first time, and listening to the podcasts during my daily hour-long walk, reignited the love all over again. However, I have not been able to convert any new Browncoats. No one seems to see what I see in them, and I feel like I am pressuring and burdening people into watching them. But I believe in the quality of the show, and so I feel that it must be able to be seen by others, otherwise I would not continue trying. I listen to the podcasts, and hear a chorus of kindred spirits, and that sustains me. Yet still I doubt that I will ever convert a single new Browncoat. The podcasts have numerous examples of it happening, why am I incapable of enjoying the warm feeling of knowing that a new Browncoat has been born? Let me tell you the story of my most recent attempt. I took Firefly over to my friend's house and hoped to watch it with him and his wife. We ended up watching the whole Underworld series instead, for, like, six hours. I took it back over there the next night, and we actually DID watch it. It was not warmly received, at least not by my friend, although his wife did laugh at the appropriate points. I believe that my friends are not idiots, and so, I am wondering whether it is not a matter of intelligence, but perhaps, rather, a more ineffable mindset that makes one a Browncoat, perhaps a willingness to spend time with the story and characters, rather than just being wowed by flash and image. For all of their love of the Lord of the Rings and the like, maybe my friends are just not truly geeks.

Let's see if this works. . .

Update about nothing
Saturday, 23 January 2010 14:39:03

Update about nothing Howdy ya’ll browncoats from the Z-verse. My dvd player has been broken for about two months. What did this mean? No Firefly, no Galaxy Quest and no anything else for at least that amount of time. Well, the good news is I have gotten another dvd player. The better news is that I watched all of disc 2 yesterday and lmao. Firefly is that ruttin good. You can’t but fall in love with the show. Now on to another thing, my wife. I love her to death but she has the uncanny ability to find HATE in her heart for actors and actresses that she doesn’t like. Case in point, She can hardly stand Adam Baldwin for what Jayne did Simon and River in the Ariel eps. I told her, “ Don’t hate the actor, hate the character if you must!”. This only means that Adam has done an exceptional job at being Jayne. Thank goodness she has gotten over her emotions enough to watch CHUCK. And she likes it. Also, how many folk here feel that although Adam is great at playing NSA Casey, he can never be replaced as FF’s Jayne? And Nathan can’t be replaced as Malcolm Reynolds. JMO, but Nat will always be the Serenity captain even though I like him as Richard Castle. And what of Wash, Zoe, Book, Kaylee, Simon, River & Inara? I can’t see another companion ever taking Morena’s place and if another mechanic ever gets on board Serenity it better be as a passenger. Just some thoughts going through the ‘ol brainpan this Jan day, Sat-23-10. Z, Zen master (only jokin)

G'DAY...
Tuesday, 26 January 2010 05:50:09

Happy Australia Day, Internet! The day all Australians agree to come together and disagree on what the fuck this day is meant to be and what it "means" to be Australian. It's also time again for the Repulic and Flag debates. Urgh. (I just watched "Avatar" by the way and it was pretty good. Most people have probably already seen it but if you haven't go and watch it.) Me done.

Hittin' the brakes, and crossing the line.
Tuesday, 26 January 2010 17:54:47

On Saturday, I attended the premiere of the TNA Maximum Impact Tour 2010. The winter/Christmas period had been taking its toll on me physically. I'd been running around with my digital SRL camera, feeling pretty creative, but to the detriment of my health. The need to slow down was apparent, as I was on the road to nervous exhaustion. So, with two weeks to go, I decided to buy a ticket for this event. Luckily, I snagged a floor seat, which put me directly in front of the stage. I've been a fan of pro wrestling for the past decade or so. The first PPV that I watched was The Royal Rumble back in January of 2000. (Bizarrely, on the twenty third.) The Rumble introduced me to the likes of Bubba and DeVon Dudley and Kurt Angle. People who I grew to admire over the years, for their consistant in-ring ability. Fast forward a decade, and I saw them live for the first time. The synchronicity is weird, no? Anywho.. This was a good opportunity to unwind and take my mind off the pressure. I'm still in a state of awe from all the bouts and drama, and have a deeper respect for the talent now. Here are some shots from the evening. Thankfully, flash photography was allowed, and I was able to capture some decent pictures: ** Chris Sabin (Motorcity Machine Guns) puts Amazing Red in a wrist lock.

Not getting very far
Wednesday, 27 January 2010 23:16:33

I think I've begun to bore people with Masks. I had never intended for it to be this long, nor this slow, but it sort of wrote itself into this piece where there's lots of character bits held together by a plot, and I'm not sure that anyone's interested any more. There is going to be action - some of it's already written - but I'm wondering whether to just end it and begin something else. Probably just a bad day - work has been hard, and my home life even harder, so I guess I'm feeling down. Doobie do, down, down.

Interesting times
Thursday, 28 January 2010 00:21:21

Lots of exciting things happening at my end. The first episode of The Signal Season 6 is up. Go check it out, it is great. I did not write anything for this episode, but edited Helen's "Let's go again" article, so I contributed at least a little bit to it. Also "The Signal" has a new forum and is working on a new website and blog which should be available for the public soon. And my first article should appear in ep 2. I had a job interview today and will start to work as student tutor tomorrow. Math. Why does it have to be math? That stuff came easily enough to me in school, but I am afraid I have forgotten quite a bit since then. I started taking aikdio lessons. Wow! Serious fun. And totally push-up free training (at least at our dojo). It's weird, though. I used to do judo, back in the days, so I did have a rough idea about breaking a fall and rolling, which seemed to work quite well in the very first aikido lesson. But then I started to think about how I should move and now even a simple back roll turns into an awkward, clumsy and confusing experience. Duh! Stop thinking, stupid. Still haven't finished the Leverage fanfic, the stuff I did for the Signal got into the way, but I am working on it. Also a friend of mine has started making plans for developing an online multiplayer scifi game, codenamed "Operation Survival", a kind of multiplayer version of UFO-Enemy Unknown or XCom as it was also called (in case anyone remembers that ... that was like fifteen years ago. Still, one of the best computer games ever written. And I definitely want to get involved in that, not so much as a software developer, but as scriptwright, story developer and maybe sound designer. So far there is only the idea and some thoughts in his blog:

Getting further
Thursday, 28 January 2010 17:09:25

Thank you all for your kind comments and encouragement! I won't give up on Masks - I'll let it take me where it will, but be assured it will only be a chapter or two before something big happens. Explosions. Swearing. Vera. Jayne in a dress. (Well, maybe not the last one. Although ... Okay, I'm now not going to be able to get that image out of my head for some time ... better just enjoy it then!) So stay tuned, or adjusted, or whatever ... more will come. Just trying to decide who to kill off ...

Movin' on...shiny...
Sunday, 31 January 2010 11:28:49

You'll probably find this hard to believe, but I just got major league screwed in this last deal. I'm totally bustin' my ass for these people, and guess what? They have been robbing me blind! I am now not only in the middle of gorram nowhere-I am short of coin in the middle of gorram nowhere! And I am seriously pissed off about it, too! Sparing you the gory details is a kindness, believe me. Right now, I'm just trying to keep my big fat mouth shut about it. Nothin' I can do for a few more weeks. I wish it was as simple as shootin'em, but that'd just be more trouble I don't need at this point. It is definitely time to cut my losses and roll, though. It is in the works, but patience has never been my finest quality. I hate to wait. I also hate being poor. I can put up with a lot for the sake of completing the job, but don't fuck with my money! Seriously, anybody got any spare zen I can borrow?

Getting into the 'Verse...for charity and the fans
Sunday, 31 January 2010 17:57:59

So back in 2008, Steven Fisher came to me and said "Have you ever thought about doing a Firefly Fan film?" That question has changed the course of my life since then. We did an intense four to six months worth of research from everything to the legal side of thing to the scripts and history of the characters. We reached out to the studios, and Joss Whedon, to let them know what we were up to. We contacted the charities and shared with them our plan and vision for the next two years. We reached out to the fans through social media and they have helped shaped the course of this project from an idea on a napkin in Starbucks to a feature length film that will be released Labor Day weekend 2010. Thanks to Browncoats like you, we've been able to make this a reality and have, so far, raised thousands of dollars for charity and we continue to do that as we go on. What has this whole thing taught me? That Browncoats don't think of "I" but they think in a world of "We". I hope you'll join us as we continue on this journey. Thanks for taking the time to read this far. Let's keep flyin', Mike Dougherty Writer/Director/Producer of "Browncoats: Redemption" website:
