no matter how much the bdh whores try to convert me to the cult of Mal, i'm not givin' up my space in jayne's bunk! i fought long and hard for that space, battling my friendly jayne-philes in this corner of the 'verse. (and they're tough!) can't i just, you know, divide my time? you know, have multiple extracurricular activites? or do i have to fight the mal girls too? man, i'm tired.

Some of us are making a fan film, well a fan series actually along the lines of Star Trek: New Voyages. It’s the story of six very different people thrown together on a battered old mid-bulk transport ship called a “Firefly.” This kind of story will be pretty familiar to Browncoats but this tale has a twist. You see one day our heroes ship will be bought by a disillusioned Browncoat called Malcolm Reynolds and become the home to another band of Big Damn Heroes. Yes, this is the story of Serenity before she was Serenity and what happened to the ship and crew before Mal first saw her in that shipyard. So let’s look at our six main characters. Will Hawkins is the captain. He’s from Ariel so he’s a Coreworlder. His family was rich, influential and able to pay for the finest possible education. Will is an idealist, a guy who started out supporting Unification for all the right reasons. When the war broke out Will was eager to join the Alliance military but soon discovered that he might be on the wrong side. We won’t say what happened next, that’s something to be explored on screen, but when we meet Will he’s out on the Rim and out of his depth, exiled from the Core in a place where he simply doesn’t fit. Amy Frost grew up with Will. She was indentured to Will’s family when she was still a child and brought up with Will as a kind of child companion (small “c.”) She benefited from the same education he had and where she higher born she would have made a fine lady. Will thinks of her as a sister, even though she feels more for him. When she heard what had happened to Will she followed him out to the Rim hoping her skills as a pilot would be useful to him. She’s a paradox, cultured, refined but at the same time a gutsy pilot and outspoken friend. Clementine "Damsel" Arce. She’s a Borderworlder, someone who grew up on the planets that formed the Independents. She was a rebellious child, a tomboy, a clown and the kind of fun kid that everyone knows. When the War came she joined the Browncoats and discovered that she was naturally gifted with a gun. On a target range with a good rifle she was deadly, unfortunately in war you don’t shoot paper targets. Out on active service she discovered just what hell war can be. She witnessed her friends being slaughtered and entered the kill or be killed world that we saw on “Firefly.” Finally she couldn’t take any more and during a troop movement she deserted. Unable to go home she’s stuck out on the Rim looking for people to replace the family that has now disowned her. Zekk Leong was born a survivor. The product of a union between an aristocrat and a slave girl he’s been fighting to survive since the moment he was born. Raised in a monastery and later by a ruthless criminal gang he has developed special insight into the human condition. An escaped criminal with a bounty on his head he provides muscle for the crew and a reality check for Will. He can track just about anything and if you can see him that’s only because he wants you to. A ruthless killer with extreme skills he stays with the crew out of curiosity and the need for a safe place to sleep. Emiline Choi is the ship’s doctor, a Coreworlder on the run from the Alliance for an unspecified crime. She is quiet, gentle and perhaps a little sad. She won’t say just what she did to have a bulletin out on her and she won’t explain why she only wears white, the Chinese color of mourning. Joss Farrell is from Dayton Colony so he fancies himself as a bit of a lad, a face, a major operator, savvy? He’s got these plans --- don’t call them schemes – that will make everybody very, very rich. What a pity they don’t listen and just send him off to fix the engine. He’s more than just a mechanic he’s an entrepreneur, and a guy whose genius level skills with math, electronics and computers are often more trouble than they’re worth. Anyway, if you like what we have come over and see us at

okay...so I've already made it obvious that I've hooked my roommate's ten year old son on to all things Firefly, but I have to share this. He was doing his homework earlier and (having already explained what the phrase meant) he threw his pencil down vehemently and says "Go wong tong." Enough of this nonsense. Does it really get any cuter than that people?

I just posted my first firefly fan fic. It makes me nervous. Doing the Serenity Tarot cards was fun because I've never worked with photoshop before and it was just sort of relaxing, but writing is completely different. I've been writing short stories since I was about thirteen. I'm an English major. It's more than a hobby for me... In fact, in an attempt to take my writing more seriously, I once took a vow never to write fan fic after high school. But, for better or worse, I felt motivated to break it. So, wish me luck, and please, if you like the story, tell me so and harass me about getting the next chapter done. I've posted chapter one and have half of chapter two written already. I actually have an outline that goes all the way to the end of the story. If all goes well this will be the first novel-length anything I have ever completed (or my second novella, we'll see). So please, help a browncoat out... Here's the descrption I have posted: Set after OIS. Much to Inara’s chagrin, Mal accepts a job offer that takes Serenity far away from New Melbourne and to an unremarkable moon called Three Hills. With Inara’s promise to leave looming over them like a shadow and the job on Three Hills becoming more potentially deadly at each turn, Mal and Inara begin to retreat into their memories while all the while trying to find out what’s going on in their present… assuming they survive to find out. Also, Simon turns to Book for help when with his latest attempt to woo Kaylee, Zoe takes River under her wing, and circumstances lead to and unlikely partnership between Jayne and… I loved the pre-romance between Mal and Inara, so if you loved it too, this fic is for you. In fact, originally I was just going to write M/I romance nonsense, but then I felt that all the characters rule so much that I needed to have all of them in the story. Book gets to play good-guy. Simon gets to be adorable, awkward Simon. Wash gets to fret over Zoe's upcoming birthday. Jayne... well, he gets to do interesting things too. Okay, I think this is enough self-promoation for one evening (what can I say? I am excited and want people to read). So, peace.

hey all, I am a short time fan (only got on board mid september)but full time Alliance/Fox foe. have been reading the board for a few months now so decided it was time to say hey, so Hey! Have one question - has anyone got the TPB yet? according to DarkHorse it was released Feb 1st, however, Amazon.co.uk (with whom I've had it ordered for months) list it as unpublished and won't be till March 31st. I e-mailed them about it and they say the publisher still hasn't got it out yet. which is it?

To celebrate the arrival of my Serenity DVD in today's post (YAY! WOO HOO!) I've put up a new image in the Blue Sun Room. Predictably enough, I've gone back to my favourite subject (i.e. Jayne/Adam). There's just something elusive in that man's eyes that I can't quite capture. Just means I'll have to keep trying, huh?

Hey Friends~ I am overwhelmed by the number of Browncoats reading my stories. Thank you all. I really enjoyed writing this set and would like to embark on another erotica plotline but I am stuck. I have this need, this total drive to always end up back in canon and so it makes coming up with plausible pairings and story lines that much harder. If any of you have any ideas for stories and couplings that you would like to see and have an idea of how to bring it back round to canon, I would LOVE to hear them. Please post me a message here and I will most definately read them. I enjoy writing the stories for you guys. I have a couple of ideas I have been bantering about in my mind but have not written anything as of yet: Zoe and Tracey (from ep, the Message) in a determent camp after the Battle at Serenity Valley and Heart of Gold: Behind Closed Doors-The Unauthorized Story. What do you think? There must be many more ideas out there. So, I hope to hear from you and until then... Aim to misbehave! ~Kessa (YoSaffBrig)

Found this place by accident, actually. But looks like good folks. Good conversation. A place where one can find out what needs to be learnt. I'm all for that. Now, ya won't see me 'round her much. I'm not in the habit of plantin' my boots in one place too long. You know how that goes. But by what I see, I'll be back this way again. Thanks for the hospitality and data. Should come in handy.

This week, I have mostly been: i) sitting at my keyboard, trying to structure and write the last few chapters of New Prospects ii) slumped asleep on the keyboard, dreaming about same iii) at work - see i) and ii) for details iv) eating v) trying to put people off visiting so I have more time to do all of the above. But... it's nearly done. And it's been fun! I think half the job has been figuring out what not to include. I mean, if I'd written in every idea and every POV, I'd still be working on Chapter 3! Oh, hang on... ------------------- "Now I'm learning about scary."

Ok, in case anyone happens to read this...how exactly do you use emoticons on here? I'm a little silly I know, I just can't figure it out! Usually I'm really good at these things. *ahem* Now that that's out of the way... ...I'm not really sure what to say here, I'm just a new Firefly/Serenity fan, checking some things out. Really nice site you ppls have here. Again, I say: Thank you, Joss! -Hannie

I hope I've proven a point with my lastest few chapters of How I Soar - and that point is, sometimes I know what I'm doing! Sometimes. For the most part I have to admit... HIS has no defined end point yet, but River's fever dreams were very definitely planned out ahead of time (even if the plan wavered a tiny bit every so often, because I wasn't sure I had the guts to pull it off.) I was genuinely worried I was going to lose some readers with chapter 25, but I'm glad people stuck around to see the resolution of that plot thread. I was planning to spend a little more time on New Vegas, but since they haven't even got there yet and I've given them a new mission, I guess it's going to have to be a brief stay. Plus, River's healing so she won't be able to go gambling with Jayne. But that's okay, I'll work something out. I've got this image of Kaylee going wild at the buffet... Also, for those who are wondering, Mal has not yet begun to get angry over the treachery of the Guild. Oh, no, there is definitely some Cappy ranting and violence to come.

Okay, I wrote a small poem. I felt inspired, seeing a very touching piece of art here: a still of the River Tam sessions, with a beautiful, child-like poem on it. Mine is a bit childish, too. But I like it that way. :) Actually, I changed it a bit (blogger's prerogative; hehe). If I were but a FireFly, And you were River Tam, For you my soul would glow! To be a shiny haven in the sky For you to safely go. And should I find you broken, The first thing I will do, Is listen on that day; Just to hear the words unspoken, Which speak loudest anyway. Shiny! is really what I am; Or for her I want to be. Thought Love was but a lie. But now, because of River Tam, I really want to try. River, if only you were real; Or with the power of my verse I could make it so! Then I could tell you how I feel! But you'd already know.

There were so many things I wanted to get done today (I definitly need to do a huge pile of dishes and wash some clothes tomorrow, I am running low on clean cups as well as underwear and my apartment looks a mess). I kept switching between my computer and the telly instead for the whole day. First I watched the first ep from the Battlestar Galactica series. I do have to agree that the regular series is better than the piloting mini series. The ep was really good. I might become a fan of the new series after all. Then I resumed translating parts of the Roleplaying Game for my players and uploading it to the website. By now I have the most important character generation stuff up and two of my players already know about it and have started working with it. I also translated and uploaded Joss Whedon's article on the history of the 'Verse from the movie guide. And p:censored:t was totally legal? LOL If he presented that article to FOX when he created the series, it is no wonder they cancelled it. I rewatched Jaynestown and Safe today. Enjoyed both of them of course, even though they are not among my favorite eps. Oh, and I had a wonderful dream last night which ended with Mal kissing me. Now, that was something... I will go to bed now and hope to repeat the experience.
