Just looking for a bit of advice, found the following job, looks quite interesting: [quote]We are seeking an enthusiastic, bright and willing person to employ as a Driver/Trainee. A clean driving licence is essential and you must be over 21.[/quote] Personally, I think it sounds great, it's not exactly what I want, but it's a guaranteed contract, it's in TV and it's a foot in the door towards what I want to be doing. I reckon I'm pretty much exactly what they're after, I've just come out of a media degree, I've got some technical experience and I'm hugely enthusiastic about the medium. Okay, now here's the bad news: It's in Middlesex. I've just signed a 12-month contract to live in Swansea, if I move out I have to find someone to replace me or I'm stuck footing the rent. For those that don't know, there's about 200 miles between the two places. Anyway, I'm just looking for a little advice, obviously there's no guarantee I'd even get an interview, but I figure I'd open it up to public opinion, rather than just having all these conflicting throughs swimming around in my head. Apply and risk not making enough to cover both rent payments or wait til my contract's up and hope something better/more local comes along?

So anyway, I was going to my school to register for the new year and I am proudly wearing my Serenity shirt...while waiting in line for my new books one of my next years teachers notices the shirt and starts a conversation about Browncoats, the movies, the injustice of it all...y'know all that. This is the first time since I got the shirt that it has caught the attention of a fellow Browncoat and needless to say I am looking forward to attending this teachers class this school year! Woot, I am soo happy to meet another Browncoat, despite the immense age difference...just proves the greatness of Firefly in my opinion...not that it needed proving!

Saw the Attorney today - who shall heretofore be known as Arthur. Arthur says that he can't imagine us not doing well. Of course I didn't tell him that I could. He did mention that we might be put off tomorrow - which means more waiting. So I hope that doesn't happen, else I will have to move us all to some tropical island and sell seashells on the seashore. Thanks for all the pep talks and good wishes. Keep the vibes coming. I will let you all know what happens as soon as I can. And HEY - the Forsaken and Imponderables threads are gettin to long for some of our sistren and brethren to load - we gotta slow down peeps! Or start new threads faster! Yes, well, I have finally decided to throw caution to the wind and use my free hand to take hold of some measure of responsibility, meaning I've actually logged in for once, with the express purpose of introducing myself to this fine community of Browncoats. Before proverbially diving into a message board discussion, I thought it would be best to start here, as the shock of a new name is often sure to stop an intelligent discussion in its tracks, at least for some small amount of time. Something my conscience wouldn't allow me to do. 'Cause I'm considerate like that. To introductions, then. My name, as you might have noticed, is Vicomte. I was first introduced to Firefly way back in the early days of the year of our Lord Two-thousand and six, or, perhaps more appropriately, roughly eight months ago. I am a regular over at the Starwars.com blogs, wherefore a few friends of mine introduced me to the 'Verse we all know and love. After weeks of hearing of this 'Firefly' I just had to see what all the fuss was about, and not being a cat, I was not the least bit worried about my mortality, though lately I do sometimes question my sanity, but in a good way, of course. It was then that one day it came to my attention that the Comcast cable provider was offering Firefly as part of its Video On Demand service. Being intrigued as I was, I decided to check it out, for the low low limited-time only price of three bucks per three episodes. After some complex calculations I have discovered that I was paying for Firefly at a rate of one dollar per episode. Imagine my suprise. The episodes were arranged in the standard Fox 'Out of Order', which I learned afterward. In this sense my first viewings of Firefly were much like those of you folks that were here since the very beginning, meaning 4:3 aspect ratio and wondering why cowboys were playing chinese checkers, as well as trying to figure out why the last episode was of double-length and taking place before the first episode. Sure, there weren't any commercials, and I watched the whole series in a matter of three days, but, other than that, I consider my experience to be much like the original. I also experienced the same sadness when it was over, and the same happiness when I learned of the film, and the same exhilaration upon seeing the film. I like to think that my 'Browncoat Experience' is exactly like that of the original air time fan, only highly compressed. Instead of waiting three years for the film after watching the series, I waited three days. Instead of three minutes for commercials, it was three seconds. It's proportional! Anywho, I've come a long way since then, and have developed a strong love/hate relationship with the 'Verse. Mostly love. You know how it is. I'm pretty much your average Browncoat, obsessed, but in a good way. I have a sizeable collection I'm quite proud of, I listen to the podcasts, I visit the websites, I watch an average of one episode a day (always in order, complete with Serenity where appropriate), I attended a Serenity Day screening, and I of course have my very own Jayne hat, and yes, it is very cunning, no matter what anyone else thinks. Well my fine friends - we got bumped. Baldwin County Al is the fastest growing county in the US, with Foley being the fastest growing city. Nowhere is this more apparent- apparently- then in the court rooms of Baldwin County. Me and Mine (StepDadster and the Mommy and I) dutifully arrived at the alloted time to find 25 other cases as well. We waited around for the order of the cases to be set and finally the judge offered to see us on Monday afternoon or at some other as yet named date. So I guess Monday is the better of the two. Now, it comes to light that the ExMrFMF has somehow forgotten that I am the smarter of the two of us. I say this because at one point his lawyer told my lawyer that they were willing to "Let" me have the house, the kids, $600 a month alimony (NOT RETROACTIVE) IF I we would agree to forgiving the truck debt. We of course laughed in their faces (well we didn't but it would have been funny) and told them that gee WE would agree to the original settlement AND he pays for the truck. Bottom line, some idiot has convinced this idiot that the house that is falling apart around us is worth $211,000.00. This same house that we got a $132,000,00 loan on in July of '04. He seems to think that by "letting" me have the house he is losing out on that equity and I should be willing to pay my parents back the $21,000,00 they gave him for a truck I have never driven and don't own. So its off to court we go. The way it looks now - My attorney is going to argue that in July of '04 Randy (thats the asshole) initiated a divorce and signed settlement papers that gave me the house, its contentsm the kids, 2 of the 4 vehicles, and $1300 a month. Now - but for an error on the part of his attorney (she didnt send in a form) we would be divorced. therefore - BARE MINIMUM we should get the original inforced. He is also going to try and argue that I had no idea my husband was shagging the neighbor and had I known would not have agreed to the original divorce - But I have pretty much settled on taking the original and being ecstatic if I get more. Anyway - any opinions? Is it just me or is this man crazy to want to have a judge hear all the crap he has done? Oh and she is a Pregnant judge. A Republican, Conservative, Christian, mother and pregnant wife. Um, Houston I think the asshole has a problem. Upshot - I still ain't got no money. Mom has to buy #2's uniform and will probably pay my house payment and buy some groceries. All because Randy couldn't keep his willie in his pants. What a complete piece of crap.

I cannot express this enough, but I have a feeling it will be explained many times over... The [i]A Fever You Can't Sweat Out[/i] series starts with 'Relax, Relapse'(which is now the offical prologue) and Part One is 'A Passing Fantasy'. Just figured I'd state that because everything is now falling in order of the album, minus 'Camisado'. And unlike the fics I did for [i]From Under The Cork Tree[/i], they'll all have some sort of connection. It'll be a head trip for sure, but they'll be connected. Okay, you can go on with your lives now. ^^

September 19th (Tak Like A Pirate Day!) is the day of Tempe, AZ Shindig! Thus far, it looks like the Arizona is only 75$ short of bringing the Bedlam Bards here in the desert. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be going with a fellow Browncoat, and might bring my LEGO Mule (The hover one), assumin' it doesn't explode. I'm holding off on watching Serenity until that day so I can enjoy the full experience (As if watching Serenity on the big screen with a bunch of Browncoats and the Bedlam Bards isn't shiny enough!) On another note, I'm tryign another Browncoat conversion today. I let a friend of mine borrow the Firefly box set. Here's to adding another to our league! Alex signing off.
