Yesterday was great. Al and Karl were up for Easter so we all went to Newcastle for the day. First we wandered around, then we went to the Crow's Nest for dinner. Then we went to see 300. That was a good film. Really violent and gory. Great. Karl and JOhn wanted to recreate the film in Fenwicks with plastic swords, an escalator and mannequins. Then, we decided to go to the toy department at Fenwick's (yet again). Me, John and Karl were playing with the lightsabers while Andrew kept complaining of a headache. Then we went to Durham and spent the next few hours sat in the Waterhouse eating and drinking (well I didn't since I don't drink). Karl broke a glass. It was quite funny actually since he didn't mean to. So a good day all round. TTFN Jennifer -x-

oh my, the deadline

My thesis is supposed to be finished May 15. Until now that has been a date far into the future. Now its way to close. The good thing about the panic that comes with a realization such as this, is that i actually work. I do not work best under pressure, I ONLY work under pressure. I don't know if that is a good quality or not. Mixed inn with this improved work ethic is a boost of creativity. Im not able to consentrate on one thing for long (although longer than a few months ago when the pressure was still low)so I have knitted my first Jayne hat, drawn a lot and so on. The Jayne hat was cool to make. It was so easy. It took me maybe three hours. Never made a hat before, so I have now aquired a new skill. If I dont get a job before christmas everybody I know will get hats for presents. Now I have to go back to writing on my academic masterpiece. (NB! sarcasm) Have a shiny day everyone www.myspace.com/suecon

Frustration

How do you deal with it? Moreover, how do you deal with it in these volumes? Mine is currently revolving around the content in the BSR, and my contributions thereto. A couple dozen Burma-Firefly icons - the inspiration for which has suddenly run dry. Three fanfics in progress - one of which was progressing well at the time I finally found a beta, but my muses seem to have abandoned me even on those. Used to be I could fritter away on them for a couple of hours at a time and bang out two or three pages, but now in the same timeframe I'm lucky if I can cough out a single paragraph. Even then the writing is downright bland, where it used to read almost like poetry, like I majored in English at Oxford. So what the hell's up? No idea. Don't know if I'm just burned out, or if for some reason I've gone a touch soft in the brain pan and my inspiration has rotted away altogether. My attention span's gotten so short, I've had to reread this entry about three times just to make sure it's cogent without being redundant. Same thing with the fanfics - so dead-from-the-neck-up that I ain't even sure if they're fit for public consumption anymore. And even if they were, you know how disheartening it is to see, per-maybe-haps, a maximum of two or three responses to every post while everybody else's posts are outscrolled by the comments thereon? It was always that way on the Star Wars forums and it bites harder than a bad-tempered Reaver. This well and truly sucketh. Something's gone missing from my life and it would damned sure be nice to have it back. Where, oh where could my creativity be? *sigh*

iTunes Canada really pisses me off
Tuesday, 03 April 2007 21:07:16

As much as I love iTunes and my iPod, at times it can really piss me off. I can only get iTunes Canada since I live in Canada. And it's almost identical to the one in the States with one feature glaringly missing. The only video files we can get are Pixar shorts and music videos. We can't get the tv shows or movies that you guys get. Now this I can kind of live with. I don't have a video iPod, and I don't really want to watch stuff on something the size of a postage stamp. But today, I saw that an Alison Krauss album was available. Yeah, it's a greatest hits album, but I still like her. Anyone whose heard her voice on the OH BROTHER or COLD MOUNTAIN soundtracks can't not like her. I get a $50 dollar card to get her album and a few others. When I click to buy her album, it says "The item you tried to buy is no longer available. The availability of the item changed while you were using the store. The same item may be available with a different price or elsewhere on the store." What's the point of advertising a full album when even if you buy the individual songs (which I did) they are all not fully available? This just infuriates me. Now I gotta download a possibly corrupt version of it off of BitTorrents. Just something that bugs me is all. Any iTunes or downloading horror stories or anything like that?

The Scene
Tuesday, 03 April 2007 22:37:18

And now a scene involving my interesting character, and death and violence, lots of death and violence. Hunt I don’t really know where I am heading; I’m just following my feet. I’m in a district that caters to college students, an area of town surrounding the university, the college district. I blend well into the twenty-some-things crowding the streets in their endless search for the ultimate party, quick lay, or the freedom and reprieve they crave. I slip in and out of the crowds easily, sorting through the floods of color, searching for the perfect kill. The beast and I don’t have to hunt for long; he passes inches in front of me. I follow him, a safe distance behind, into an old pub and the perfect hangout for no-partiers who want a drink. Once inside he heads straight over to the pool table, greeting a man who I can tell right away is my second kill. As they start their game I settle down at the bar, knowing they can see me. As I wait for the bartender, I pretend to glance around and I catch my first mark’s eye and give him a sweet smile he must be use to seeing. I feel the beast’s excitement grow when he sizes me up. When I order my drink he nudges his friend and points to me, both taking an obvious interest. They make it too easy. They wait until I finish my second beer before they approach me. Jake and Van, that’s what they call each other when they introduce themselves and begin the classic mating ritual of the college student, thinking I’m a future conquest. I know they aren’t going to see the sun of another day or talk to anyone else ever again, so I tell them the apparent truth, “Willy, I’m Willy.” When I tell them I’ve never played pool before, they offer to teach me the game, and order me another drink. I feign ignorance when Van slips a pill into my drink while Jake shows me an easy move and sneaks a grope. I smile when I take a sip, playing along when the GHB enters my system. I giggle and stumble, pretending to be drunk and drugged, while my body cleans up the drug and alcohol in a matter of heartbeats. It doesn’t take long for them long to usher me out of the pub and sweep me up, taking me to their dorm room. When the door closes behind us, the looks on their faces turn from nice to evil. They turn into predators, sizing me up waiting for their attack. I keep playing the part of victim, bumping into the bed and falling against. Falling into the perfect position. My original target, Jake, makes the first move, Van waiting patiently in the background. He moves down to my level and touches my face as he whispers, “Don’t worry, I’m gentle” with a laugh. He moves again, to pick me up or undress me, and I make my move. The heel of my hand hits the soft of his throat with all of the force I can muster in a blink of an eye, knocking him back. He hits head on the ground and lose consciousness. Van is surprised and I use this to my advantage. Before he can react I’m off the ground with one of my ropes waiting in my hand. I slam him into the wall and with a skilled hand I wrap the rope around his neck and tighten it. With a jerk I tie it off and leave him gasping for breath, clawing at the rope at him neck. I slow down, having disarmed them. I stand over Jake lying prone on the ground. I run my hand along the side of his face and kneel besides him, my fingers getting bloody from a wound on his head. I pull out my sharpest knife and rest it beneath his sternum. “Don’t worry, I’m not gentle.” With a gentle push the blade slides into him and with a steady hand I slide it down parting the skin and connective tissue. Jake’s life doesn’t last much longer once I begin, and I leave him covered in his own blood. I turn back to Van who is lying on the ground too, pale with blue lips but the hint of a pulse still banging against his arteries. I grab him by the hair and pull him up, blood smearing into his hair. The hint of life in his eyes flickers with fear. I jar his head back and gaze into his eyes, the beast reveling in the fear. I thrust my still warm and wet blade in his throat, through his neck, and w
