SHADOWLEOPARD

Against my better judgement, I have started working on a new story, called "Reunion." It's interesting because I wrote the last scene first, whereas with my others I started at the beginning. One of my favorite horror/sci-fi authors as a young adult was Christopher Pike, a sort of R.L. Stine type who wrote a lot of formulatic fiction. He published a collection of short stories in the late nineties (when I was in middle school) that was interesting because it contained an introduction to each story describing the creative process. I remember Pike writing about how he would often be struck by certain scenes within a story, and then build the rest of the piece around that. That's been very similiar to the way I've written the four stories on this site; the final scene between Simon and Kaylee in "Honor," Kaylee and Book pointing guns at each other in "Song of Shepherd," and Simon's father shooting him in "Home" were all the first things that came to me before I set down to write. As a teaser, here's the last scene of "Reunion." It's not going as well as I would have hoped, writing wise. This might be my last piece, if I publish it at all. But there you have it. Jayne sat outside in the shadow of Serenity, her cargo door open spilling light out into the cool night. Behind her, the ruins of the training house still smoldered in the distance. At the sound of approaching footsteps, Jayne raised his shotgun. Seeing the laser sight play across Mal’s harried visage, Jayne let the gun go slack, though he did not un-cock it. “You find anythin’ aboard that 母亲笨蛋’s ship tell us how he got a bead on us, Capt’n?” Jayne leaned forward in his chair. Mal sighed, limping forward. “Not a thing that tells us who’s turning these wheels; could be he just kept after us after last year.” He looked quizzically at Jayne. “Didn’t I tell you to get to bed? Inara said the temple was literally the only thing on this rock, and now…” he gestured back to the hollow shell. Jayne sat back. “Mebbe it was. Mebbe not. I know one thing; there’s folks in there I care about” – he thumbed back at the ship – “that been through hell tonight. An’ if I can see they get at least a night’s peace by spending the dusk sittin’ here guarding their dreams, then I’ll do just that.” Jayne leaned back in his stool. “Seems like a pretty foolish thing to do.” Mal’s voice was heavy. “Right foolish.” Jayne looked up at him. “You want me to find you a chair?” Mal blinked rapidly. “I can find my own damn chair.”

I really have little to say, but I am on the phone with my mother and she is driving me nuts. I have to clean, I have to work on my gurilla marketing idea, I have to work on my fic, I have to sleep. But alas, my mother has spent the last 50 minuites talking to my sister in the backround and complaining about my cousin. GURR!!! And my gorram ear hurts. But she's my mother, what can I do?? Complain to you guys, I guess. My new fic is near done, just polishing. It's a post-BDM canon fic that has become a Mal/Inara story with a job and something that goes wrong, 'cause, well you need that! But there's M/I, K/S, Zoe deals and Jayne, well he Jaynes. I hope to post this weekend. OOps, phones dying, excuse to go! Be well, all.

Greetings and salutations from Hong Kong my fellow browncoats. I just arrived for a year of study abroad, and since this is like my number one site to visit when i am web surfing, well i just am going to have to keep my log here. Just to give y'all some background, I am on a foreign exchange from LSU to Chinese University of Hong Kong. These first few days have been a bit of a blur, but I seem to be getting at least a little used to this place. My temporary room overlooks the harbour and man isn't that one heck of a view. I bought a shiny new cell phone today so if any of yall are in the area, drop me a line and i'll try to get to you. well that is it for now, but fear not, there shall be more hence forth, whether y'all like it or not. zai jian

I'm not homophobic. I don't see anything wrong with two gays being together, but what is up with all of the slash on some of these fanfic sites? Like "Firefly's Glow". Fair to say that half of it is slash. I've been looking for Mal/Inara fics and I stummble on to this huge archive. First time in the Firefly 'Veres mind you. I didn't know what all of the slang meant. So I open a few and suddenly they start to discribe something that really don't turn me on... Jus' askin', why? And maybe someone could point me in the direction of somemore fanfic sites, that would be great. :)

I've decided to stop Deus Ex Machina. It's just getting needlessly complicated. My new series, Remembrance, will start small, then build up towards a final, gigantic story. Of sorts.

Everything has a sequel now a days, why can't Serenity? Why can't the movie that should have a sequel, have one?!? Or maybe some dump executive will see the movie and say, "We should make a T.V. show out of that." Bring back FIREFLY!!!
