Today I saw a Hallmark commercial for some of their new ornaments. Grandchild talking about an mp3 ornament, grandpa explaining the old fashioned radio ornament. I looked up and there is Niska! Niska as a grandpa? Too creepy!

Ok I've succumbed. I was going to leave any supposition on Book to the pro's but I came up with a cool if not overly original idea. It's still more imaginative than-'Book was in the Alliance army' which is the easy way out. (I've got a bad habit of making not taking the easy way out-I really should.) ________________________________________________ Shepard Book is member of a of a monasitic fighting order called The Gaurdians. They take up causes they see as worthy. Highly trained, both in fighting skills and the duties of a priest and counseller. Although often secretive they have members placed in high ranks within both the Alliance parliment and security forces. A Guardian was involved in the release of River. Books involvement came as an accident, although he knew of the mission to save the Tam's he was actually travelling the 'verse in search of worthy causes. However he found one in protecting Simon and River as well as in guiding Mal on 'honourable' paths. ________________________________________________ Anyway not sure what Joss thought about Book but this is what I've got here. Hope you like it disagree with me if you want. Also tell me if I've missed any thing to the contrary.

I'm gonna disappear for a week because I'll be roughing it at Schoolies! Leaving on the 1st, and returning on the 7th. It's a little shorter than we'd all like, but considering it's free I think I can manage. NOT going to Queensland like most people, we're all going to Port Macquarrie...be slumming it about 400 meters from the beach. Funny story how it all turned out actually. I wasn't going to go anywhere and just keep my money, but then a friend..let's just call him Person A and his group Group A, asks me I wanna go with him. I tells him I'll think about it. About two weeks later, a person from another group-Group B, asks me if I wana go with them. So I'm torn, I'm friends with everyone in both groups (popular fellow that I am...), but can only choose one. Then about 6 weeks ago, Person A decids to go and get himself arrested. What for? How about drink driving, driving without a licence (he isn't even off his learners permit yet)...then he did a driver swap [i]while the car was moving and the cops were right behind him[/i]. So he's in the cop car, and he has the [b]brilliant[/b] idea of making a run for it. So while the car is doing about 60km/h, [u]he tries (and nearly succeeds) and jump out[/u]. This in only slightly unusual for him. When asked why I wouldn't go to schoolies with him, my answer was simple: "Person A, I just really don't wanna get arrested". So now he's had the bloody brilliant idea of buggering off to Fiji without telling the Courts. Glad I'm going with Group B now! I mean, it's not that he stupid, he's a pretty sure bet to get into AIM (Australian Institute of Music) next year, but he just has no concept of common sense. So back to me! Yes, Schoolies will be fun. Seven days in the sun (See that? I rhymed!) with good friends, good music (if I have anything to say about it) a steady, but not gluttonous amount of booze. I'm making sure everyone doesn't drink too much with the most potent weapons of all: the digital camera and a sick imagination. This will all be good fun. What won't, is seven days away from all things Firefly related, including (especially so), this site, and the wonderful people on it. I'll miss you guys while I'm gone. On the plus side, when I get back, I'll be living on here for a while catching up on the boards and reading all the shiny fics everyone will have surely posted. I'll love it. I'll be like a pig in poo.

Then again, there's a good reason. The Loft is one, but I'd rather talk about the RP I'm having the most fun with right now. It's called "Can't Take The Sky". It's canned, and somewhat formulaic, but it has a whole new crew, and a whole new Firefly to love called Morningstar. Personally, I see her as Serenity's feisty, independent aunt - the one who always travels, always has cool stories, and always has candy on the china hutch. I had one of those my own self. We got our first bit of fan mail as well from a lurker who gave us props for the quality of writing and how we're "doing it right" when it comes to the Firefly 'verse. It likely won't be hard for you to figure out which character I play, especially if you've read my fanfics. I'm in other RPs with other writers, and that's taking up some posting time, for sure. I've been part of the Minnesota Independents for the past year at various shindigs, and I've done what I can to keep recruiting the 'verse, one browncoat at a time. My loaner set of DVDs have been to Texas recently, and just back from my brother's house this past week. My brother, Jay, is incensed that the series was cancelled. He's one of the few guys I know who doesn't live and die by cable TV tech, but he said if it was still on and if it was on cable he'd pay for it just to see Firefly. I'm planning to help outfit him as Jayne - cunning hat and all. Real -ife wise, I'm still in school, having upgraded to the bachelor's degree program last spring. By December 2007, I'll be a Graphic Designer with the paper to prove it. I'd like to say I'll be writing more (no, I haven't forgotten Meili Long) but I have a portfolio to build in the hopes of getting something in the Communications arena. Currently, I'm very freshly unemployed - as of last week, in fact - so there have been interviews to fuss over. I had a very promising one yesterday, and hopes of being able to work a little more, but maybe not as hard and for more money. Wouldn't that be something? Now, you can imagine my shock in here this morning (thanks for the link, Puma), and taking a look-see only to find out that 11thHour - of all people - just went through probably the worst trauma an artist and fan can have. I was completely floored, and I have to say a big thank you to [b]SimonWho[/b] for being a voice of reason through that whole experience. Hey everyone So I just wanted to share my happy. I just got done writing my 10 page research paper about Serenity for my film and lit class. I love it when I can write about something that I love. Let just hope my professor shares the same love as mine and gives me a good grade.

SERENITYSHADOW

Well, my semester checklist of final things to do is about halfway done. All the english majors are supposed to go to some party on the sixteenth, but right now its a dim and blurry light at the end of long dark tunnel. I keep reminding myself of that scene in Real Genius, during one of the video montages, when one of the students gets up from a table buried in books, starts screaming at no one in particular, screaming "Ahh" over and over again, till he walks out the door. It makes me laugh every time. "I believe it was Socrates who said, 'I drank what.?'"

Recently I heard about in England, how they were censoring Tom and Jerry cartoons to take out the smoking. Because, long time fans of the show will notice, sometimes when he's trying to be cool, or something, Tom will light up a stoogy, usually using Jerry as the lighter, or the paper licker or something. I don't get this. These are parts of our past, and I guess I figure if it was good enough for kids of the past, it's good enough for kids now. I mean, how many of us watched those old Tom and Jerry cartoons and then went and bought a pack of cigs that night. Or long after. I think there are much more influential things in our lives that get us to smoke (if we do) than a bunch of cartoons. Anyway, you're talking about a cartoon where I just saw a mouse put an iron in a pie and then throw it at a cat's head. Firstly, worse stuff happens all the time on that show than smoking. Tom and Jerry are horrible violent to one another and nobody ever gets hurt, or shows any lasting effects. Of course my favorite gag is when Jerry props open the window with a ruler, and then leads Tom through the window, kicking the ruler out with him. So, then, the window closes, clasping Tom's neck in the window. It's hilarious. And it always makes me laugh. I think sometimes being over protective is just being overprotective. They've take alot of Warner Bros. cartoons off for some ridiculous reason or another, and if we keep letting people mess with our classics. All we'll have are the memories of the great cartoons we had growing up, while our kids will be stuck inside an ever widening bubble.

ALCHEMIST

I haven't been on here in a while, i missed everyone. got so much stuff going on in my life, can't keep up. I'm now working two jobs, i have my band, married(obviously), and I've been guest dj-ing on a local radio station on Sunday night (shows called Harder Faster X with Ron House). Been a regular guest on there the past couple of weeks. My plate is full as hell!! ha! and yet i still have time to sit on my ass and do nothing, sometimes. not so much, but still have time. I don't know about anyone else, but I ain't done a lick of xmas shopping, yet. I don't know what to get anyone this year. I am completely at a loss, though my mom mite get her very own copy of Firefly this year. I know she'd downright enjoy it. Otherwise, the only thing i can think of is getting my sister a monogramed towel set, which she's not like me, she "mature", so she mite like that-un. Who knows. anyways, ladies(or gentlemen) if any of ya can-a help figure out what to get for my warrior woman (though she ain't quite a warrior, but she is a Browncoat, she's the one brought me in the fold) please comment back to me, cause I am at a loss. Just FYI, she got a bass guitar last year she ain't hardly touched, and the year b4 that she got a sewing machine she's used a bit. Please help
