I'm giddy! I bought the BDM and the BDS for my brother (he actually introduced me to the series, but didn't own it!) - I usually do everything in my power to avoid paying full retail for anything, but I was happy to pay full price for both. Anyway, he opened it first because I wanted to clarify that the BDS was from my husband and me and the BDM was from our kids. He was so excited that he showed it around to all his friends there (I was surprised that more of them hadn't watched it - they're all DS9, Battlestar Galactica, sci-fi fans). They passed it around and the intrigue increased. Possible conversions: 8! Can't wait to hear how it went after we left the party! I was surprised that more of them hadn't heard of Firefly. Being in this forum and sharing the same love, I just assumed more people were enjoying this show!

i'm usually not much of blogger, but sometimes I just have to write something. Plus I know all the nice Browncoats out there won't laugh at me. :smile: i've been toying with an idea for a while now, and I thought I'd let y'all in on it, sos to see what ya think. Alright, 200 years in the future, the Earth gets overcrowded, so we push out and start to colonize the rest of our solar system. sorta like the 1600s in space. America is the dominant superpower, followed by the UEN (United European Nations) which is the UK, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Germany, etc. joined together. earth has turned into the "downtown" of the solar system. All high tech equipment, lots of futuristic buildings, where only the rich and powerful can afford to live due to massive inflation. Mars is like the suburbs in some places, and like Skid Row in others. Mars was supposed to be the new Earth, and since it is the closest, most of the not-rich-enough-to-live-on-Earth-but-still-rich people live there. Then there are some areas that are desolate wastes, inhabited by roving bands of bandits. Jupiter and saturn are major mining centers, as is the asteroid belt. But with space traffic comes space piracy. Hence where Nathan Gray comes in. Gray is a down-on-his-luck pirate, close to giving up and becoming a beggar in the slums of Venus. Until he captures the Navy's latest technolgical marvel. The stealth frigate dubbed 'Greyhawk' changed Gray's life. He went from scratching a living off of rocks to practically rolling in cash. But now he has the entire American-Earth Navy after him. which is just how he likes it. Ahhh, fingers hurting. Anyhoo, I'm messing around with this concept, and one of these days I might get around to writing it. feedback would be appreciated. Now I have some....business.....with Sid Meier's Pirates! :evil: :biggrin:

Hey, gang, heard from the comics people and I sent off some prelim Angel drawings to see if they'll accept them...Here's hoping so needless to say I watched the first six episodes on DVD to get a feel for the character.. On a whole it had some good Whedon type moments..any Angel fans out there got a recommendation on what the best first season show is.. (I only had money for the first season)

Last night I was at my cusins bar. We were drinking with his friends that we grew up with even though he is years older than I. Well, any how John, the oldest of them sarted to mouth my cusin and me. Things like I bet you can't beat my ass. I told him that I didn't want to beat anyones ass tonight because I was tierd and too busy getting drunk. That's when I looked at my cusin and said, "I didn't come here looking for a fight, but I always seem to find one." He sarted to laugh and John thought we were laughing at him and took a swing at my cusin. Then one of our fellow Browncoats yelled out, "Hey! A tussle!" and jumped in the mix. Well we got into this big fight and beat each other something fierce. then licked our wounds and drank some more as friends... Now I have a semi-black eye and a bruise on my left cheeck, and some knots on my head. But that's what we Okies do for fun any more... Well growing up that's all we had, that and the belt from mom and dad. Now they ruttin took that away from the gorram parents, and look at the kids now days. The crap ain't right. Kids now days need discipline like we had growing up. This time out stuff works with some, but not all. -Chiefy

ive been away from other browncoats for a looooooong time. ive converted a few since then. johnny come latelies. you know, i really have never taken the time to get to know my local browncoats. i guess deep down i get the feeling im not welcome. im an outsider or something. i dont own a cunning hat. in retrospect he chronicles of narnia sucked. king kong was just okay. wouldve been nice if it were more than just a remake. had its good moments. v for vendetta is where im at. now thats a freakin movie. im the outsider. not invited to the little browncoat reindeer games.

I had a Mal dream last night. Not like THAT...those I keep quiet. :wink: Mal, not Nathan, this was Mal, and I were having a moment. I was on the ship. It was one of those moments him and Inara never had. Looking into each others honest eyes, tears welling up. Both about to say things that have been built up for years. He looks at me very delibratley and takes off his boots. He looks up at me with red-rimmed eyes, and he is about 5 feet tall. I tell him I love him anyway. I read to much fan fic.

well, since comin' back from my long stay away from all things browncoatish i received some messages from those of like mind. like mind in that it seems sometimes that the local browncoat scene is rather like a club with a secret handshake. a handshake i dont know. regardless of the fact that ive converted countless numbers to serenity. regardless that ive been a fan since before day one. part of it may be that i live in BFE, part of it may be that i tend towards reclusivity, but even on the message boards (take your pick which one) a fella gets to feelin' like the best he can hope for is to feel like hes crashing someone elses reunion. meh. this is the reason i went away. its not like im needed, i know that. but it woulda been nice if i felt like i belonged.

Hi! I disconnected my cable & internet in mid-January and left Iowa to travel around warmer climates (Texas, Arizona, California)...and I ended up getting an apartment in Pacifica, California! I had to race back to Iowa to pack and move, but now I'm actually in my new place w/DSL and cable.... and I'll be hanging out more here a fff again (I've missed you guys). So are they still planning the April Fools Day Firefly/Serenity Marathon in Palo Alto?

It is a lovely day today. It was sunny and warm and just a teeny bit breezy. It was perfect. I got to go out barefoot today and feel the grass between my toes. And I went and sat in a tree and read for a bit. I love feeling the bark at my back and smelling the growing things. There's a special smell to spring. It's like you can smell everything waking up. It's similar to the way the world smells after a really good rainstorm but more subtle, quieter I guess. I don't know if any of this makes any sense or if I'm just rambling. Like I said, it was also warm enough to go barefoot. I've really missed going barefoot outside. This is one reason that I love River, her afinity for bare feet. I've been a barefoot nutcase my whole life. When I was little my mom had a rule saying that I couldn't go without shoes until the dandelions started to pop. Otherwise I was just as likely to freeze my toes off on ground that was still frozen even if the snow was gone. I just love to feel the earth beneath my feet. Or whatever surface I happen to be walking on. It makes me feel more stable. It's a connection to the earth beneath me I guess. I don't know how to describe it really. I'm a really tactile person. I love to feel things and to touch them. With my hands, with my lips, with my feet. Dirt, mud, grass, stone, bark. I just love how they all feel on my bare feet. So I guess this about bare feet and experiencing nature and the world around you.
