So upon the recommendation of another browncoat, I grabbed a book from the library that Bruce Boxleitner wrote called _Frontier Earth_. Yeah, it's a bit of an SF Western mix. Definitely not like Firefly at all. The one thing I definitely have issue with are writers who create alien species and then have them either named in really bizarre ways or have them talk without bothering to really translate it (even by inference) for the readers. There comes a point where no matter how many consonants you run together or however you in'terr'upt the word with apostrophes, it just becomes less believeable to the reader. I need a buy in...and being able to read and pronounce a major character in a book or to understand what he's saying is a major buy in. I can't understand this guy and Boxlietner really doesn't build the suspense the way he could. But I'm gonna finish the book because I'm told it does pick up a bit after the first 100 pages. Am I the only one who feels this way or have I been spoiled by not having aliens in Firefly?

Not much of a test, actually. I just haven't posted in nearly a month and was interested to see if I'd been missed around here. Not that I expect I was ... things seem to have continued quite swimmingly in my absence. Save for the apparent impending divorce of ManWithPez and his wife. Looks like I missed somethin' juicy. Oh well. Not to comment on something I know absolutely nothing about (other than the apparent impending divorce part), but I wish all involved the best. Having never been directly affected by divorce, I can't imagine what they're going through. That is, of course, assuming that all of this is actually going down and I didn't just dream it. Guess someone needs to get me up to speed on what's been up lately. And, if you've been missing my ongoing fanfic, take your hand off your mouse and slap yourself in the face because you're probably the only one. If it turns out you and I aren't the only ones, I might try to find the time to continue it. Problem is, I think I underestimated how much I'd enjoy the job I have now. I seem to be less interested in wasting time here. Anyway, updates. Please.
