Bedlam Bards to be at D*C!
Tuesday, 22 August 2006 00:54:25

The good folks at The Signal invited us to be part of their live podcast at Dragon*Con, so how could we say no? I reckon I'll play for people waiting in line for the panels like I did last year, and we'll play wherever else we get a chance--HOWEVER . . . We don't have an actual concert scheduled this year. So if anyone out there has any ideas, let me know.

Away for a week
Tuesday, 22 August 2006 01:30:50

Probably should have posted this yesterday... I will not be near a computer this week during the day as I normally am. I will be checking here in the evenings, but I can't stay on long...the classes start early and run late. As notification is still a bit sketchy, I know I am going to miss a LOT of stuff! :pissed: If y'all want to contact me directly, please email me at tristan71@cableone.net I would not be averse to getting emails letting me know what's going on...sort of a digest of the happenings in the 'Verse. I'll miss you all while I am gone, and can't wait to get back! Stay shiny!

Am I in love?
Tuesday, 22 August 2006 04:11:14

I think I might be falling in love, im not totally sure, but there is this girl. And ive kinda felt a interest from her for a while and lately ive been starting to get interested in her aswell. Today when we watched Silent Hill together I held her hand and it was just about the most exciting rush ive feelt for months. Basicly I feel great at the moment. Only one problem. Shes got a boyfriend ofcourse and although they are having some tough times at the moment I somehow doubt they will break up any time soon :disappointed: Oh well, I would rather be in love with a girl I cannot have then not to love at all, because love makes me feel truly alive.

Anybody miss me?

So...there should be a new chapter up in the next day or so, and so on, until CCM is finished. But then there will be a short break, since I'm going to finish drafting the next thing before I start posting it, having learnt my lesson this time out. I want to go back to some things I started in 'Zen'. I'm not done with the whole Mal/Inara mess. So that will probably be next. And I'm writing something lighter, too. I need some laughs. RL has intruded - I'm fine, but several friends are going through crap (divorce, depression...delovely, the lot of it) and husband is going away on work for best part of a month. On the plus side, I have a new car, one that does not try to kill me on the bends. Not sure if anyone is reading this, with the site being weird an' all, but keep flying, 'Coats, and I'll be back with you soon.

Well, I FINALLY got an E-mail back from the girl who I was a jackass to and tried to fix it afterwards. She's more formal than she used to be, seems that way with every girl I have an E-mail address for. It's like, one day we're all calm and friendly then the next, their E-tones change and it feels like they're all hiding something from me. Oh, well, that's life I guess, JOSSISAGOD!!

Away
Tuesday, 22 August 2006 15:25:05

On top of being sick all weekend with the flu, I'm supposed to be working with the Children's Programming Chair for the World Science Fiction Convention (aka WorldCon) in Anaheim beginning tomorrow. Ugh. So, I'll be away until next week. If anyone is attending WorldCon, come introduce yourself! I'm a slave during the day in the El Capitan A/B ballroom at the Hilton. Ask for Tammy.

Tell me why people are complete idiots!
Tuesday, 22 August 2006 17:31:16

I won't mention names, but sometimes I run into people who make no sense at all. So I ask myself, why are these people complete idiots? I've had a bad day at work today with working with idiots. I don't like to cause trouble, but I will. I feel that I am underappreciated and that some people are getting away with murder. Is that right? No! So sorry to sound so down and everything, but my God, put your brain on and use it. I don't leave my brain at home when I come to work!

Wonders...

This is NOT mine - it was just so cool I wanted to put it somewhere: "I’m so into Firefly, my butt glows in the dark" Apologies to the person who penned it originally, I can't remember where I got it so I'm giving you the credit...that I can give you.

How about vicious killer Raccoons in your backyard? We're talkin' REAL here, not Hollywood! And yes, I did see S.O.A.P. and really enjoyed it. Nobody says M-F'ing better than ol" Samuel L. Jackson! Check out THIS story from Washington state. ------------------------------------------ Tuesday, August 22, 2006 OLYMPIA, Washington - A fierce group of raccoons has killed 10 cats, attacked a small dog and bitten at least one pet owner who had to get rabies shots, residents of Olympia say. Some have taken to carrying pepper spray to ward off the masked marauders and the woman who was bitten now carries an iron pipe when she goes outside at night. "It's a new breed," said Tamara Keeton, who with Kari Hall started a raccoon watch after an emotional neighborhood meeting drew 40 people. "They're urban raccoons, and they're not afraid." Tony Benjamins, whose family lost two cats, said he got a big dog - a German Shepherd-Rottweiler mix - to keep the raccoons away. One goal of the patrol is to get residents to stop feeding raccoons and to keep pets and pet food indoors. Lisann Rolle said she began carrying an iron pipe when she goes outside at night after being bitten by raccoons when she tried to pull three of them off her cat Lucy. She obtained rabies shots afterward as a precaution. "I was watching her like a hawk, but she snuck out," Rolle said. "Then I heard this hideous sound - a coyote-type high pitch ... It was vicious. They were focused on ripping her apart." The attacks have been especially shocking because raccoons came within five feet (1 1/2 meters) of cats without any problem in previous years, Benjamins said. "We used to love the raccoons. They'd have their babies this time of year, and they were so cute. Even though we lived in the city, it was neat to have wildlife around," he said, "but this year, things changed. They went nuts." In one case five raccoons tried to carry off a small dog, which managed to survive. The attacks, all within a three-block area near the Garfield Nature Trail in Olympia, are highly unusual, said Sean O. Carrell, a problem wildlife coordinator with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, adding that trappers may be summoned from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to remove problem animals. "I've never heard a report of 10 cats being killed. It's something were going to have to monitor," Carrell said. Meanwhile, residents have hired Tom Brown, a nuisance wildlife control operator from Rochester, Washington, to set traps, but in six weeks he has caught only one raccoon. He and Carrell said raccoons teach their young - and each other - to avoid traps. Brown said he had seen packs of raccoons this big but none so into killing. "They are in command up there," he said.

Hope to see lots of you all there, Kaynara PS: For those who haven't gone completely over to the crazy place yet, Flanvention is the Firefly Convention (second annual) held in LA in Dec.
