Well, I finally saw the movie today (I felt like I had to wait forever for the person who had it before me to return it to the library so I could have it, although in reality it was only about a week). I loved it, although I thought the music was better in the show. It's a rather insignificant thing, I know, but insignificant things can have significant affect on significant things... I felt that the music from Firefly was a big part of what gave the show its personality, and it was somewhat disappointing to see that missing from Serenity.

My five year old was up way too late tonight and was begging for a story. I told him that it simply was too late at night to spend another 20 minutes reading him a story. Instead I offered to sing him a song. He procedes to crawl up into my lap. "Sing Firefly for me, mommy..." Granted, it's not bedtime song material, but simply the fact that he WANTED it made mommy's day.

Not sure how it happened, but I now have a job! Actually, that isn't quite true. I do know how it happened :wink: Going out to have coffee/meals/desert/etc with a buddy that is a techie resulted in lots of techie talk. This of course over time ended up covering a wide array of topics from licenses to specific developement problems/solutions. Because he owns his own business, after a time we ran into a problem that he was looking for a solution, which I knew of some (solutions that is :wink:). Thus I get a contract to setup a solution. This turns into a job offer pending I complete a "proof that I know how to do web programming site." Which I finished and he and his lead programmer were satisfied with :smile: And yesterday I get a job offer which I accepted today :biggrin: Just gonna have to be careful not to overstep my bounds... At any rate, yay! I've again joined the ranks of the getting paid :biggrin:

:smile:Thank-you everyone who read or commented on my blog yesterday. I was feeling very upset and I think it all just got a bit much. All your *hugs* and advice really helped to calm me down and this morning I'm much happier. :smile: I went to visit the accommmodation people first thing this morning and explained what was going on. They were very sympathetic and apparently my name flagged on their system because I have a circulatory disorder and it would seem that puts me fairly high up on their list of concerns. I've filled in a late application form and although I'm not guaranteed anything I should be able to find a room on campus. I'll also keep an eye out for 'house mate wanted' signs. I also spoke to my Dad... without bursting into tears:smile: and he's going to ask around and see if he can find a car suitable for me to buy (I have some savings from working last summer) then I won't be stuck on campus (-basically the middle of No and Where). So yeah... Thanks again! A little shaky maybe, but I'm still flyin':smile:

I just spent the entire day at work today, sitting at a table, subjected to hours and hours of mindless droning. Annual General Meeting from 9am to 3pm SUCKED the life right out of me... I could have spent that time doing ANYTHING else and it would've been time better spent... I could have been WRITING. I ended up making paper cranes, ninja stars and those square-thingys with the colour on the outside, a number on the inside, and then some message underneath the inner flap - my four messages were: Drawn and Quartered; Branded by Irons; A Hobbling; and Escape... all of which were better alternatives to sitting there at that meeting... To top it off, the lunch has made my tummy upset. Not a happy 2x2 Thank the gods for this place!
