Old...WonderCOn Report
Thursday, 21 April 2005 00:45:01

I know it’s been awhile since WonderCon but I wanted to post my amazing day there and my first convention. I’m to lazy too type my meeting with Jeff Marriote (Angel book author) , If you want to know let me know and I’ll write it up later. Serenity panel: The room was packed listening to War of The Worlds panel with (I think) Steven Spielberg . I maneuvered my way up slowly to the front –like the 7 from the first on the side. The preview for War of the Worlds was good ,and I still kick myself for not going up and asking if the little blonde girl was Dakota Fanning or no. The MC comes out and says “Now what you’ve all been waiting for. JOSS WHEDON!!! The crowd (including me) goes wild. Joss comes out wearing the same purple backpack Dawn was unpacking in OMWF. Then Adam comes out in a long black sleeve shirt and a black cap. Nathan showing off his flower T-shirt. (You big girl ,you). Then Summer in a black off the sleeve sweater and a sequined yellow camisole. Before the Q+A they showed the pretty funny clip –which I’d love to talk abut but I’m not spoiler-girl. All I can rember from the Q+A …hold on milking out of brain… AHA! When one fan mentioned space pants, Nathan spit out his water and Joss said “ I want to thank you. He’s had that water in his mouth for 45 minutes.” Um, When another fan asked about embarrassing moments, Adam and Nathan looked at Summer and she said her nude-y scene in Serenity (the episode), and when asked again she said During one of the stunts Joss kept pushing her to scream and she almost got “mad”. Which made Nathan get the look of “Impossible, Summer? Never.” And Joss has a foot fetish. (Just watch Angel –Unleashed and Objects in Space. You’ll see what I mean.” The Q+A ended at 2:59 and then they did some poses for fans taking pictures. I’ll write more about the autograph session when I not feeling terribly lazy.

Laser eye surgery made me cooler than a ten thousand foot Fonzie

Sure I couldn't read for a week, but a small price to pay for this most unexpected increase in my social station. I'm surprised the docs didn't mention it when they were listing all the posibble side effects that could happen. "Just so you know, there will be some swelling and pain for a few days, as well as blurred vision, there is also the possibility of being endlessly propositioned by women and a newfound awe when in the presence of others." I suppose it really just evens out the side effects of my last surgery which made me as cool as getting your ass kicked by a bunch of girl scouts. Droppy

What I Think As Opposed To What I Say 3 (Blast From The Past)
Thursday, 21 April 2005 15:56:05

In three different passing conversations with my mother: Three days after I had sex for the first time: MomWithPez(Where do you think I picked up the habit?): Bryan, are you...umm...sexually active? Me: (You gotta be kidding me, 17 years old, and she just asks me this now!?!) YES!!! Three days after I got drunk for the first time: MomWithPez: Bryan, have you been drinking? Me: (You're lucky I'm not drunk right now! How does she know? 20 years old and she only asks me this now?) Yes...and I'm a little hungover, so keep it down. Three days after I smoked for the first time: MomWithPez: Bryan, have you been smoking? Me: (It's beyond scary now! At 21 years old, I should be able to develop some vices if I want to.) No. With my father: SeniorMasterSergeantDad: Son, are you on drugs? Are you gay? Is that your problem? Me: (Wow, its always great when your parents are proud of you!) No and no. Umm, offhand, what kind of problem are you talking about? SeniorMasterSergeantDad: Well, your hair... Me: (Of course, nothing signals that your a strung out homosexual like bad hair.)Answer's still no. Have you talked to Grandma lately? In Basic Training: T.I. CHIPS: This is the stupidest flight I ever trained, and you, Barks, are the stupidest airman I've ever trained! Me: (In retrospect, sir, we are not well met. In civilian life, many people find me pleasant, intelligent, even charming. I see that we don't have much in common, you being a screaming Nazi, and me being an 18 year old, but surely, at some point in our lives, we can put these differences aside and become peers, if not friends.) Yes SIR! At my first job: TechSergeantFartHead: Barks, you aren't very professional, are you? Me: (Not professional? I'm not the one who just unsuccessfully tried to cover the sound of flatulence with a squeaky door hinge.) I can be at times, sir. On dating: RandomGirl: Sure, I'll go out with you. Me: (Hold out faith. Maybe this one will ACTUALLY go out with you instead of saying "I forgot", and then turn up at the same party you go to that night) Yeah...right. First Wife: FirstWife: I can't believe you'd go through my things. Me: (Is it just me, or is my crime slightly overshadowed by the fact that I just discovered that you are sleeping with some Navy guy in Texas) I can't believe you'd bang some squid! One of my brothers: LittleBastard: Locked you out! Whatchya going to do now! Me: (I can't believe you just locked me out of the house because you wanted a turn on the Nintendo!) "..." (There wasn't much to say after I punched in a window, and for one of the few times in our lives, actually won a fight with my little brother.)

What do you do when your friends are being stupid?
Thursday, 21 April 2005 16:34:33

Have you ever been a friend to someone that just will not get on w/ their life? Someone who is less than 5 classes from graduating college and moving on to a successful career, but chooses to remain in a young, drunken, narcotic-saturated lifestyle? I know many people know what I'm talking about, but what do you do? Am I supposed to just watch my friend, who has become closer than a brother to me, waste his life away? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. :banghead:

I'm back

Yikes. Had to go cold turkey without a 'puter while switching over to DSL. Can now access Firefly stuff way faster than with dialup. Yes, I know I am from the dark ages. Decided to try my hand at fan fic. Yes, this is such an obsession that I have come up with a couple of What if... plots and characters. Now just to get it down on paper, or whatnot. More later.

My Poor Thumb
Thursday, 21 April 2005 22:13:12

I was being such a spaz yesterday that I actually stapled my thumb. I was loading my stapler when I slammed it shut and felt a sharp pain in my thumb. I look down to see the staple in my thumb. All the way in. I pulled it out like the brave girl I am and its throbbing like hell today. Anyway, I just thought I'd share. Oh, I just remembered...I read that Joss was going to do the WonderWoman movie. When I heard there was going to be a movie, I was a little scared. I love the comic, but I'm not sure it could be taken seriously on the big screen. Then I heard Joss was directing and I felt better. I only hope he finds a nice tall actress to play Diana. She is a six foot Amazon. I'd be disappointed if he didn't stay true to that. I also heard he's laying off the star spangled undies. Thank God.
