Hi! Just wanted to say hello! I have seen this board before and just lurked so now I decided to join up. I have seen Serenity 3 times and I have the Firefly DVD, Soundtrack, I also have the Serenity Sountrack, Novel, RPG and Visual Companion. I also plan on buying the DVD both on regular DVD and a copy for my Sony PSP. See ya on the board

I've written fanfics before, none that were anything spectacular, and none for the Firefly Universe. I have an idea that's been formulating for about a week or two, and now that I'm on break, I thought I'd better get started on it! The breakdown: Ok, so, post BDM, River suddenly awakens from a dream about a boy (hmm, pairings? I think so! I was never a fan of River/Jayne. Too creepifyin'. Still entertaining to read, though.) This boy is her age, and next in line to become the Alliance's new guinea pig for their experiments. He's psychic, too. But he hasn't been tampered with yet. Or maybe he has? Not sure where I want to go with this yet, but this idea has been bugging me, and I have tons of ideas for humor/romance/action to intertwine within the story. I have a few writing dilemmas, however. I'd like to have this fic set post BDM, but...Wash...he's gone, and I just need to have him in my story. I mean, he's Wash, he's one of my favorites. I'm thinking of having a sort of an alternate, being Wash surviving the accident (how? who knows!) but being in intensive rehab for a long time, thus making River still the copilot for now. Shepard is ok dead (not quite as bad as it sounds!) And I thought that he would have left River his Bible. I'd also need to have a background for my new character, the psychic boy, but first I need a name, and a way for him to escape from the alliance and somehow wind up on Serenity. Any suggestions? I'd gladly give credit!

Thanks for all your messages of solidarity – and Phaedra I sympathise (you gotta keep away from those young men though – Hipolytus – yuk!)… My general beef though is that I work city hours, but for a local lawyers pay – tch!! So having worked all Saturday and Sunday, I discover that I feel so jaded today that I can almost not bear to crack on!!! Any suggestions as to how to brighten a boring office or make the working day twice as long and still get enough sleep would be most welcome … Also I could seriously use any suggestions as to how not to break down and cry like a 3 year old in the middle of the office … Enough griping – I saw a late night showing of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang at the weekend – no lousy job is gonna stop my viewing pleasure … Any one else seen it?? I personally thought it was fabulous – witty, funny, painful and just so FULL!!! Superb!!

Following Shiny Geeket’s recommendation to spice up my office working hours by kidnapping something from a fellow worker’s desk and sending a ransom note, I nicked my friend Jonathan’s supaclip (of which I am in any event inordinately covetous) and sent a ransom note (made from cut out single letters, taped onto a sheet of paper) demanding that a packet of jaffa cakes (a UK sponge and orange based product – think orange Twinkie) be left on the water cooler by 3 p.m. if he ever wanted to see the supaclip again … Much hilarity ensued, including this very funny email from him: Details of urgent Thames Valley Police press conference just in: - "A highly respected and influential Corporate lawyer has found himself the innocent victim of a biscuit-based terror campaign. Jonathan *** today received an "anonymous" letter threatening him with the permanent abduction of his 7 month old supa-clip. Police are now trying to trace the letter and have a number of leads. Mr Williamson has been on the receiving end of numerous biscuit related taunts recently from two work acquaintances. The first suspect has been named as Philippa ***. She is aged 38 and hails from the "wrong side of the tracks" in Windsor. Police are advising any supa-clip owners to steer clear of her and her matching hair accessories. She has a history of psychiatric illness as well as an unhealthy obsession with the female form according to one former female lecturer colleague. The second suspect is Katie ***. She is 25 and is the daughter of the "most important man in Henley". She has a history of stalking any male having had contact with a rugby ball and can currently be found most days searching the internet for luxury romantic breaks. She sometimes uses the alias "Jones" due to her general clumsiness. Mr *** is said to be unnerved about this latest development but told police: "I do not believe that honest and law abiding members of the public such as myself should have to held to ransom by biscuit crazed individuals. I have faith in the police's ability to catch the 38 year old female involved and bring her to justice." N.B. At this point I would like to make it abundantly clear that I am niethe r38 nor a lesbian – as this appears to imply!!! Grr!! So thanks Shiny Geeket - good suggestion!!

Hi, You know after reading quite a few firefly/serenity fan fictions on here and on ff.net I feel like writing one my self. Where do I start? Should I start before the movie or after? Do I need to use chinese? I noticed they dont allways seem to use it. Can I make it as if Book and Wash are still alive if I make it after the movie? Can I create a new character?
