Stressed out from packing
Wednesday, 02 August 2006 02:12:07

I had no idea how hard it was to move!! I'm moving from my home in garden city south, to Elwood..in Huntington 45 minutes away from here. I'm moving on august 5th. I had no idea i had so much stuff. It's so hard to pack all of it! I'm so stressed out. And I'm so worried. I'm going into High School not knowing ANYBODY. And I'm naturally shy when i meet people. Of course after i meet them I'm fine it's just...it's amazing I have friends with this shyness issue. Say...does anybody here live in Huntington?

It's done! Now for some reflection...

As of tonight, I have finished my From Under The Cork Tree series of fanfic. And I think it's time to reflect on what I spent four months of my life musing over and wanting to occasionally stab Pete Wentz. Don't worry, I wouldn't... Two Quarters and a Heart Down..., which was inspired by 'Dance, Dance', came easy enough. Shindig is my favorite episode and just putting in that mindset of when they're dancing and bam! I had it. It was a good place to start... A Little Less Regret, A Little More 'What If...', inspired by 'A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'', was written when I was flaking off a Spanish project. The song made me think of the everyone thinking about what could have happened betweened Mal and Inara. So using the lyrics as intervals made the most sense to me. This one is very unique because it's the only one that isn't titled with some sort of lyric and the only time the lyrics were used like they were. I'm Not Sure If It Matters, inspired by 'Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part To Save The Scene And Stop Going To Shows)', was an idea I had bouncing around for a while but the fic took awhile for me to like. I think it ended up being more inspired by the spoken word part at the end of the song. It reminded me of River more than anything so I thought of her just getting into Mal and Inara's heads... Love Never Wanted Me, inspired by 'XO', actually took me some time to get the idea for. And I don't understand why it did! And it finally struck me one day. I think this one is my personal favorite of the ones I wrote... Now I Only Waste It Dreaming Of You..., inspired by 'Of All The Gin Joints In All Of The World', was also a bit of a snag. I was constantly worried that I didn't do Inara justice, but I'm glad it turned out the way it did now. ^^ The Best Liars, inspired by 'Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued', isn't my favorite. I really think this one could have been done better, but I couldn't think of any other ideas for it. Ah well... Not The Desperate Type..., inspired by '7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen)', was just a cute little idea that came from somewhere. I think I may have overdone Kaylee's drawl a bit, but I am happy with how it turned out. The Lies Just Won't Stop Slipping, inspired by 'I’ve Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song)', was the first in the 'dream duet'. This one came at the same time as Brace Yourself and I definately tried to make it fit the sound of the song, which is lucid and tragic in a way. I was really worried about ruining the intergrity of the lyrics but I think it turned out just fine. Brace Yourself, inspired by 'I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Go Was This Stupid Song Written About Me', was the second part in the 'dream duet'. The song is more abrasive than 'Dark Alley', so the fic turned out the same way. As for the River sneaking into his dream thing...I honestly don't remember where that idea came from, but I think it added an extra creepyfing factor to the fic. Worse Luck and Far Less Gold, inspired by 'Sophmore Slump Or Comeback Of The Year', was one of the ones that gave me so much trouble. But after reading the lyrics and listening to the song, I just finally imagined River musing on several aspects of her life. It came out nicer than I imagined... Scars and Stories, inspired by 'Champange For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends', was another tough one that didn't come for the longest time. Then, I just started seeing Saffron in my head everytime I heard the song. I tried to push her out but she wouldn't go away. So...there she is... I ended up describing the garbage bin too big though. XD Keep My Jealousy Close, inspired by 'Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner', was probably the most allusive. I was planning on trying to keep it and the fic for 'Sugar' paired together(like it started in 'Baby' and e

Abbyshot??
Wednesday, 02 August 2006 07:49:11

So... I'm seriously considering breaking down and buying the 'real' deal. After casing the internet (namely eBay) for aproximate matches I've come up with three options. 1. International Male suede jacket. It is a decent match, and a decent price. A very nice coat indeed. However, I cannot find my size. 2. Space City costumes. They make a Browncoat custom fit. However, it is not made of real leather. Only faux suede and vinyl. 3. Abbyshot. So very, very pretty. Rather pricy, but I'm almost willing to take the blow. My good sense is at war with my fandom. I so want to have a very nice suede jacket. I so know that my mum would be aghast if I spent over $100 on anything. However, my mum does not dictate my life, contrary to popular belief. I work and make my own money. I only live at home for two more weeks. Then it's back to school. Back to freedom. However, the relevant conundrum remains. As does my random enthrallment with a boy. I shall not go on. Good night and good luck. (Oh, and advice would be hot.)

New passenger onboard.

Small Firefly Moment Today
Wednesday, 02 August 2006 17:03:29

I just played a trivia game on MSN Games called "You Know It! Celebrity Trivia" and the category was TV to Films. I usually rock at this category since I am a movie buff but it was such a pleasant surprise to find a "Serenity" question in there. It was really easy. "Serenity was based on what cancelled science fiction show?" It was just cool to see that question because usually mainstream trivia games only ask questions about Star Trek and Star Wars. It was nice to see we're not forgotten. That was completely awesome. I might just go play it again just so I can see the question. I know... I'm a nut. I need a life! EDIT: I had another Serenity spotting today. I was reading the current issue of Entertainment Weekly and it was an article on how Hollywood changed the web. Anyways...there was a small blurb about the fans pleading on the net for the return of Firefly and got the movie Serenity. It was a small downer though when they said it only grossed $26 million. Why do they focus on the negative?

Yep, two more {hard} working days to Pennsic! I'm a flutter. Or at least without much sleep. ;-) Too ruttin' hot here, but Mr. Weatherman promised today'll be the last day. If he lied, I'm gonna hunt him up...with Vera. Still amazed that 4 hour NORTH of here it was even hotter the past few days. Oh, and more new neighbors in my apartment building. Joy. Rapture. To folks who will someday do the same, as few bits 'o advise for getting along with folks in close quarters. 1.) Do NOT move in at 11:45 p.m. This will really p*ss your new neighbors off. 2.) Sound carries, especially the bass from steros. If you want to figure out if your stuff is too loud, put it on. Pick up your keys and go into the hallway. Shut the door. If you can hear it, it's WAY too loud and will make other folks unhappy. 3.) TV home theaters do not belong in building with shared walls....EVER. 4.) Leaving your stinky garbage in the hall is just gross, and makes folks think wolves would have done a better job raisin' you than your folks apparently did. 5.) If your pet poops in the hallway...Clean It Up. (see #4.) 6.) If your roommate/boyfriend/girlfriend won't let you in at 2am, do not lean on someone else's buzzer unless you want said buzzer inserted rectally. 7.) Do not walk away from the electric stove if you're frying/deep frying something. It's a recipie for burning the building down. As a matter of fact, when doing that kind of cooking, keep the fire extinguisher handy. Or lots of flour. Do not use water. 8.) Do not practice with your garage band in your apartment. There is a reason it's called a garage band. Go find a garage....far away. 9.) Don't decide to put nails in the walls after 8pm. 10.) Unless you're on the bottom floor, jumping jacks are right out. Okay, I'm a bit testy right now. Sorry about that. Happy news! I've finally put up a piccy of my car's antenna ball that I made. Go check it out and let me know what ya think. :) Well, that's all the news that's fit to print for the moment.

I just can't get a break
Wednesday, 02 August 2006 23:26:08

Ok so I managed SOMEHOW to pay all my bills this month. I dutifully paid the July mortgage - late, but before the 31 - bringing me up to date. Because of the tires for #1 and the medicine for #2 - I knew I would be overdrawn - but child support would cover it. Get the child support last night, which my son dutifully put in the overnight deposit box. Well today, I check the account at 5:35 pm and the idiots at the bank have deposited the money into #1's account. NOT MINE. Which makes no sense as #1 used MY information and put my name on the deposit envelope. So the crux of this matter is that NOW my mortgage payment has been reversed. I realize that all this can be solved with an irate phonecall on the morrow, but it isn't the point. WHAT IS GOING WRONG? Why am I having so much trouble? How are innocent things that have never gone wrong begore now ALWAYS going wrong? Can someone read my stars? I mean GEEZ. Can I get a Feng Shui master to come sort me out? Any wiccan's have any pull with mother nature? What is the deal? Everyone keeps telling me to be positive and that Friday will go my way - but peeps - if a simple deposit can go awry...... And I am not a pessimistic person. I am usually pretty upbeat. And now all I want to do is cry. I don't really even want to post, because I am in such a bad mood all the time. Well. Shit. Excuse the French. Now I have to call my mom and see about borrowing the August mortgage, and grocery money. The cats are down to 1 day of food left, and who knows what the 47 kids are eating while I spend all my time making up time off. This also means no 2nd job so less money. I give up. I feel so crummy and useless.
