Greetings, 'Coats, and I come to you with a plea for assistance. The fanfic that I'm working on, 'When in Rome', first kicked off much earlier this year but was shelved for a while. Now that I've restarted it, I had the same beta; but in recent weeks, by all appearances, she's no longer interested. So here I am with my thrilling-heroics hat in hand requesting aid. The rewrite isn't very far along (prologue and first chapter posted here thus far), so if anyone here is willing and able, I'd be very much obliged. Xie-xie, - Steemah.

Yep, thats right folks, no more posts from me. I doubt I'll have much time to look in on the site, matter o' fact. See, thing is... I'M WRITING A BOOK!!!! Yep, first worthwhile thing I've found at Sachem East. So, I will have to put all my spare time into this, and work my ass off to get to the deadline limit (60 pages, but I'm shootin' more for two hundred... in 4 months). Yeah, so if I don't haul ass, I'm screwed. It's something like eighty dollars a month (so I have to give up Karate *sob*). When (if) it comes out, I'll tell ya'll (just cuz I like to brag, naw). But, 'til then... apetizae, adios, ja ne, goodbye, toodlepip, and any other ways to say bye... -Danny

As I sit here monitoring my students during a giant test which will be used to prove I am either a good or bad teacher, I wonder several things? (WARNING: giant rant to follow) What exactly did George Bush do to prove he was "highly qualified" for his position. We teachers are required to hold at least enough hours to have majored in every subject we teach or work with. So a person who majored in biology and minored in chemistry would be required to go back and complete another degree to teach chemistry even though they might be perfectly capable of teaching this subject on a junior high level...So following this reasoning. I would like to see proof that Mr. Bush has enough hours for a degree in Political Science, Intternational Law, Diplomacy, Military tactics, Law, Heath Care Regulation, etc... Also, I am being measured based on my students achievement. My students must show a constant and consistent increase in their academic performance. In Mr. Bush's words, "all students will be above average" OK now by definition average is the score or level to which the majority( most people) reach. So how exactly can everyone be better than the average?? Mathematically impossible? yes, but I am still expected to get there anyway. Also, I am judged solely on my student's tests scores. They do NOT take into account whether the student has serious learning disabilities, low IQ, can't speak or write in English( they are tested in English no matter what) have no motivation, have abusive parents,skip school constantly, all the little factors that can stop a kid from doing well on a test. If the kids do not increase their scores every year ( til presumably they are scoring greater than 100%) than my school and I are considered failures... So where is the proof that this country is showing increased improvement each month for every citizen??

What to blog about? Hm. How best to continue, or restart the FF universe? Options... Animation, another TV show, movie, books, web-shows...blogs?... Trouble points:Anything that looks inherently western will have a long, hard climb up the mainstream-o-meter. (:stupid:) The show must be sold on its characters, and storylines, which is what kept me coming back in the first place. It is very unique, and that always takes a few interpretations (read:writers, artists...etc) to help translate its message to the public. Yes, it is part Western, yes, part sci-fi, yes, part drama, yes, part comedy. But it's all character. Some points to ponder. :banghead: I'll be back.

I got my OVC, 'Finding Serenity' and a copy of 'the Killer Angels' last week. So I got a little sidetracked. (see previous hysterical gloat) Plus, friends. With issues. (also see previous) However, in response to the e-mails I have received - there is another chapter being edited even as we speak. (type, whatever) Honestly, I'm kinda scared to open my mail, 'case I get one of the Captain's ears in a box or somethin'. Though if someone wanted to send me a gift-wrapped Jayne for my birthday...:biggrin: So, really, I'm sorry it is taking so long, but I wouldn't want to palm folks off with something shoddy. I want the results to be the kind of thing that Joss would like (or even say, 'pretend I wrote that, okay?') This is not my job, unfortunately. It's what I do in the hours around earning cashy money to pay my mortgage. (I am old and boring) I would like this to be my full-time occupation. It may be that when I have finished my FFfest (or it finishes with me) that I will go back to my original writing. But I will not leave people hanging in mid-fic. That's all kinds of bad-mannered. But if you figure that I average about 2,500 words a chapter at about one chapter a week (self-proofed and edited), and fit that around a full-time job, a social life with my husband, and running a house, you might see that I do reasonably well. Incidentally, I wrote most of 'Another Girl' whilst preparing for my wedding, and a couple of chapters by the pool on my honeymoon (husband is mostly understanding of these things, luckily). The crossover I started for the summer challenge has actually mutated, and will be a long fic in its own right. I just need to work out if it comes before or after Zen II. BTW - has anyone got the technical skills to link music files to fics? It would amuse me to actually put the soundtrack to AGAP on the fic. (You guys did notice the soundtrack, right? If not, check out the lyrics to the songs/chapter headings. It all makes a horrible kind of sense.)

I have finally taken the plunge and turned car detailing from a sideline hobby to a full-out business, right up to looking for a boat of my own to do my business in. I have called myself EVERYTHING'S SHINY Auto Detailing and Reconditioning. Most people will never make the connection, but I hope any Browncoat will give me his or her business.

Alright, my creative writing class is OFFICIALY fantastic. Our teacher had us list the abstract and concrete characteristics of our favorite characters, so of course I chose River Tam. Then she had us write a scene based on those traits. So I'm going to transfer it onto here as a VERY short fanfic. It's definitely not the best I can do, but I'll post in anyway and see what my fellow Browncoats think.

Well...were to begin. This is my first blog entry in any forum...ever! So no pressure. As a devoted browncoat I think it's only right that I inform others of my potentially exciting current events. Hopefully those that read this won't spontaenously throw up on thier keyboards, if they do, well they have my deepest apologies. I currently have two stories online...Revenge Is Early and Good Luck Charm. Both stories are still in progress so if anyone is actually crazy enough to enjoy my writing please be patient. If nobody has actually read my flights of fantasy then all is well. I'm going to be attending a firelfly Meetup in Orlando Saturday.
