I saw it on sunday and today too. I love it, Nathan he's soo good I'm so happy for him cuz everyone is saying that this is a big hit. That's really cool, my Dad was at work today and he got the LAtimes today and he got this thing about drive and he tore it out of the LAtimes and he took it home with him, my Sister got it from my Dad and put it on my bedroomdoor lol. I was sooo happy that he did that. I guess he really knows what Firefly and Nathan is to me lol. cuz I tell him stuff about Firefly and I couldn't stop talking about Drive on sunday lol. And my Mom saw the thing about drive and she said that's really cool or something like that lol, she loves him in Slither and she said that he's really adorable in it lol. So have you guys seen drive and what do you think about it?. Now I have something to watch this summer. cuz Supernatural is gonna end soon and I asked someone what the hell i'm going to watch this summer. GIRLFAN

Chapter 51 has gone up; what was originally intended to be chapters 52 and 53 has morphed into one chapter which will go up at the latest on Sunday evening - though there is a chance that the new chap 52 it will be up before then - if that's the case, then the new chap 53, the final chapter, will go up on Sunday evening. The work in progress is now a work in conclusion. Thank you to everyone who supported this, or me in writing this.

GOMITHROUS

Just found out yesterday that I'm going to Paris for the summer! I'm not sure if I'll be able to get internet where I'm staying but I'll bring my laptop so we can hopefully keep with the chat. I'm super psyched for this trip. My parents are going on their aniversary so I'm going with my grandparents. We'll spend some time in Paris and some on this little mansion that one of my grandparents' friends is letting us use on Corsica (little island between France and Italy). Squee! I can't wait :)

CONSTANCE

Inspired by the list of ten good shows that were canselled, I have made a list of five shows that take up unnesessary time and space on the small screen. These are my oppinions and its not my intent to offend anyone. That said, here it is; the list of 5 Shows They Could Have Taken Off The Air Instead 1.7th Heaven This is a show that makes me truly sick when I on occation watch it (cause its nothing else on). Not because the people are religious or anything, I got nothing against religious people per se. But this is the show that tells kids and their parents that if a kid listens to rap he (most probably a he) will end up in jail for rape!! I am allways speachless after a 7th Heaven episode... theres just nothing to say. The anger over this almost fundamentalist christian indoctrination attemt comes later... like now. Why is this show running into eternety and Firefly not?? 2.Lost I enjoyed the first season (like the rest of the world). But then something happend. The writers got lost in their own heads it seems. Im all for strangeness and polarbears on tropical islands, but its not fun anymore. Sometimes people just aim too high I guess. But why is Lost given a chanse even after it became dull when Carnivale got canselled just when it started to become truly interesting? 3.NCIS This is just no good. Stereotyped and kinda creepy characters (Geeky goth girl?? COME ON!) A show that might have worked as a parody, and at first I thought it was... but no. It tries hard to be though and ironic and funny, but fails miserably. If you want a show from a military milieu watch the Unit, if you want a crime show watch CSI or even Criminal Minds (also geeky girl with weird hair), better actors, better scripts in all of these. Why make room for NCIS when there was no room for Dead Like Me? 4.24 It was once fun and full of suspence. It was kina like what I imagined Die Hard would have been as a tv- show. But just as Bruce Willis refuses to stop making these movies, Southerland Jr. returns time and time again. We got it Jack Bauer! We have learned that you are the most bad ass freedom fighter. We know now that the world (read USA) is not safe without you and you are the only one that can save us all (read americans). We know that torture is allright when performed by an american and when the situation is right (when theres a bit too much stress). Take a break man. Go on a well deserved holiday. Sleep for 24 hours. I want the tough guys in Deadwood back! 5.NYPD Blue This series annoys me to no end. The politics of this show is appaling. Because its supposed to be realistic the cops behaves like bastards in the interogation room (or whatever they call it). The cops are always right, the ones that opposes this behavior is either criminals, beurocrats or politicians only afraid of the bad publicity this will get or they just plain dont know what theyre talking about. Oh its so damn hard to be a cop, the bad guys always gets away... bla bla bla. Thats no excuse for normalizing violent police behavior. When it comes to depicting the imperfections of the justice system I would rather have 12 seasons of Arrested Development.

HEWHOKICKSALOT

I'm probably giving too much attention to this, but based on some very current reading on this site, some folk need to never, EVER write again. Not Firefly fic, not general fic, not anything. Ever. Next time the urge enters their mind, they need to let it go. Put the pen down and walk away. I think it's pretty clear to whom I'm referring. No more writing ever again. Rob O.

SMARTBUTDUMBBLONDE

ooo, I have had such a blooming marvellous weekend! On top of a pay rise at work (ok, only 20p an hour, but still... my first pay rise, no longer on minimum wage) I also won £58 on the Grand National! (hence the yay for Silver Birch - the horse that won). Now before you jump to conclusions, no, I do not gamble, but its a tradition in my family to each put £1 on a horse in the National, and this year I got lucky (very, since I pick the horse by the colours the jockeys wear. This one was lack with blue stars, so it was clearly going to be the best :biggrin: So I can now pay for the beautiful bright red shoes I want for prom that match my cheongsam so perfectly, and actually cost more than the dress (I'm doing the whole thing on a shoestring, seen as I have to pay for everything myself). I know its a bit early, but I have to buy them now, so I can learn to walk in them - they have huge heels, and I don't want to fall flat on my pigu. I have extreme difficulty with anything over about an inch. I wore my glasses to school for the first time today, and I had so many people ask me "when did you start wearing glasses?" including my ex, and of course it was only after I had walked away that I realised that I should have said: "I've [i]always[/i] worn glasses. Thanks for noticing." to him :evil: Its so weird seeing everything in focus, but I still don't like wearing them, even if they do make me look slightly less of a dumb blonde. Fortunately, the problem with my eyes isn't too bad, and might not even be permanent, so no ridiculously expensive designer glasses for me :smile: not that that is so much of a problem, anti-fashion person that I am! Watched V for Vendetta at the weekend.. what a film! That, 300 and Pan's Labyrinth are by far the best films I have seen recently, though I am determined to read the graphic novel of V for Vendetta, there were so many things that the film left unanswered. And was I the only one yelling "take the mask off!!" at the end? I think not.

I'd planned to write something here about strong women characters, and I guess I'll do that later in the week, but instead today I decided to blog about Liviu Librescu. Liviu Librescu was, by all accounts, a talented engineer, a gifted educator and a brilliant scientific writer. Unfortunately, these great achievements are likely to be eclipsed by his death, because Liviu Librescu is one of the 32 people who were murdered at Virginia Tech early yesterday morning. I don't know the guy. I never met him. I don't know anyone who was taught by him and I don't know squat about engineering. I'd never even heard of Liviu Librescu until I came across his name on a news website, even though he was apparently the most published lecturer in one of America's most prestigious universities. The main reason I'm mentioning him in my blog is that I came across the story of his life, and found out that Librescu had already lived through an even more horrendous tragedy. Liviu Librescu was a holocaust survivor. Liviu Librescu was born in Romania in 1931. When Romania fell under nazi control, he and his family were interred in a ghetto in the city of Foscani. More than 280,000 Jews died in Romania alone during the awful days of the Second World War, but Librescu survived. After the war, he became an engineer and had a successful career with Romania's aerospace agency. But he refused to swear allegiance to the communist regime and was fired when he asked permission to move to Israel. It took years for him to obtain permission to leave the country, but he and his family finally emigrated to Israel in 1978. Librescu came to Virginia Tech on a sabbatical year, and wound up lecturing at the university for more than twenty years. I doubt he ever expected to hear gunshots again, especially not in the university department in which he had received so much acclaim. But when he did hear gunfire that morning he didn't panic. Instead, the 76 year old man barricaded the door of his classroom, blocking it with his own body, and ordered his students to open the windows and jump to safety. And that was how he died. Although I was saddened to hear of the terrible tragedy in Virginia Tech, I never expected to blog about it. After all, no one I know was touched by what happened, and I'm grateful for that. But when I stumbled across the story of Liviu Librescu I just had to write about him. Just to make sure others knew the story. So that maybe they could tell more people again. Because in one lifetime Liviu Librescu saw the very worst that humanity had to offer, and somehow he still found the courage to die showing us the best. I must apologize for my earlier rant, though I do not recant it. By current reading, I meant only one single fic that still remains on the "new" list. Normally, if I don't like a fic, I simply pass it by. And in my comments, I'm usually fair and supportive. I love writing, and I hold in high regard those who do as well. Firefly is very dear to my heart, as it is to most everyone on this site. When I see the filth I read earlier (incest in the title) it disgusts me. I apologize to anyone offended by my comment earlier. It was directed at a singular text. Suppose I should have narrowed it down then, but I thought my reference would do. For those doing serious writing, and even those just doing it for fun, I support you whole-heartedly, as you well know from my comments and messages. For those just looking to be disgusting, please share it with someone else. Rob O.

ZEROKIRYU

Most of my family closest to my uncle don't get along with him, because we know what he's really about. He has the rest of my family fooled. But onto the current matter, my grandmother had open heart surgery almost two months ago. before she had the surgery she would do his laundry, and now he has her doing it again. We've all said something to my grandmother but she isn't listening. This is the first time that we know of that she's done it since her surgery, and if he has her do it again I gonna have to say something to him, but I don't know what to say. I don't mean to bother anyone but if you have any suggestions please let me know, I need a little help and since we're all friends here I thought you guys could help me. Thanks for all your help, here's what happened. I basically told him he's a lazy ass bitch who couldn't hold a job if his life depended on it, and of course he got pissed and a big fight ensued (Not a fist-fight, he got lucky there.). Grandma got pissed at me for saying something, so neither one is talking to me. Planning to have a sit-down with the whole family, I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes.
