Maybe a costume store. Oh and where is Dragon Con.?

This is getting unnerving. Not only do I dream consistently about Firefly night after night, not only do all these dreams somehow involve reaching new heights of affection with Kaylee or River...but I digress. So, we were out on a track job the other day (rebuilding a switch). Now when you spend ten to twelve hours a day working on railroad track, the banter is as hot and heavy as the jackhammer I use to drive rail spikes. So I struggle briefly with this one particularly troublesome spike - just won't go in straight for love or money - until at last I jam it into the tie, snug against the rail, and exclaim, "No power in the 'verse can stop me!" Within the hour, somebody else has made some kind of smart-ass "Queen of the Universe" remark. Needless to say, I'm quick to enlighten him about what I really said...and thus my lid flips like a Boston driver. I recite Wash's dinosaur routine in its entirety, coinciding "NOW DIE!" with the hammering of another spike. A wide berth is given me almost immediately by the rest of the track gang, much to my delight. (Say, I wonder if all this one-on-one time with Kaylee or River is my brain's way of telling me I've been working too hard?)

Okay people, I can't get to the theatres, but I desprately want to see the movie so I'd like to live vicariously through those of you who can. Tell me all about it please, funny lines, funny moments, what Nathan's character was like. I very rarely enjoy this kind of film but this one looks good.

As some of you might know, I had a previous blog up that said that I am in consideration for two summer jobs that would be pretty kick ass if I were to get either one of them. Well, yesterday I got some info on both of them. The CPR job is still up in the air. I got a letter from them saying that my medical profile was incomplete and that I had to get these forms they sent me filled out by my optometrist. Thought it would take a while, but as it turns out, a "while" was more like ten minutes. I faxed the formed to their offices and I should know by Monday or so if I have that job. I really hope I get that one, because the herbicide applicator thing is a bust. Called the guy, said that they found the guys that were qualified for the position and that they didn't need as many as they had thought, so that's that. On the plus side, I got a REALLY good tax refund check from the gov't, so moneys not that big of an issue now so that if May rolls around and I still don't have anything, I'm not immediately screwed. I really need the CPR job. Even though I enjoy working on the farm during the summer, I don't want to keep coming back to my folks for more money. I need to make it on my own at an actual job, and not unloading trucks at SARCAN. I want to be able to have enough money at the end of the summer so that I could afford to take some summer courses next year to get caught up in my courses. And even though I've been saving these summer position e-mails from the student employment center, I see them more as exercises in futility.

Ni Haozit, fellow BCs... Some of you are aware that I have made 7 -- count'em 7 -- shiny MP3 snippets from the Ballad of Serenity for use as Ringtones for your cell... Well, I checked the

So, JanaFae was annoyed at me for ending my most recent fic, "Clumsy," where I did. Well, I was chatting with her, and she somehow talked me into writing a, shall we say, extended edition of the fic...take a look at the ending and you'll probably see what I mean. Anyway, I don't think I'll be posting it here on the site, but I wanted to get some opinions. Therefore, if you're interested in reading it, comment here and let me know if you think I should post it or just email it to the interested readers... Don't worry, no one will judge you. Ya bloody pervert...

Now I've (no thanks to me, since the show sells itself) converted 4-newbies to the FireFly Verse. I'm far too scared to lend out the DVDs to my dates (what if they don't return them, how can I convert any more Geeks?), since I'm stuck at home looking like a pirate-tess whilst recovering from major eye surgery - the only thing I can really see well is FireFly & Serenity, imagine that! :) Also, I can only conclude that my dates are very near-sighted from many years of working on computers, since they seem to think I look great, black patch & all. I look blurry to me! At any rate, all 4 of these wonderful guys have since purchased the "full" season of FireFly, in addition one purchased the movie Serenity. Seems like I'll need to keep dating more Geeks (since they have great taste in TV)to continue boosting sales, to do my little part to get the network execs to listen to us fans...will they? Nah. It'd only mean tons of money lining their pockets if they brought back the show - & they wouldn't want that, would they? Joss, you're brilliant!

So, I finally got my car back on Friday after almost four weeks. The garage surprised me several times over: I could (and thus did) pay over the phone, and they drove it to my house for me, which saved me the incredible difficulty of getting to them from where I work before they close (earliest I can leave work is four pm, takes just over an hours to get there and they close at 5.15, bloody useless). Then, they had even washed the car, both the outside *and* the inside too! But then there was the final surprise. When I went out Friday evening, everything was fine for the first ten minutes or so. The fuel gauge was on a quarter, and all was well. Then the needle took a nosedive and suddenly the engine was stuttering, and slowing and speeding up again. I wisely turned around before I started down the really big hill that is on my route and headed back for the nearest petrol station, at the bottom of a fairly steep and quite winding road. I had my foot on the clutch so it'd roll, but the thing kept stalling and the power going off, so I had no foot brake and the power steering wasn't. I could barely turn (on the aforementioned winding downhill road) and all I had to stop myself was the handbrake. Eventually I just turned off (or rather kept going straight, since I couldn't steer) into a side road and pulled on the handbrake, skidding to a stop in the middle of a junction. Needless to say, I was a mite irritable by this point. Some helpful folks helped me to get the car over the curb that was between me and the handily placed local shop car park right infront of me, then I headed down to the petrol station on foot. Bought a petrol can, filled it, paid, went back to the car and filled it up. Hey presto, it worked again. Drove it to that petrol station and filled it up all the way. After that, it was perfectly fine. It's not that they didn't put any petrol in it, because no one would expect them to do that. It's that they didn't *fucking* tell me my car had practically no petrol in it and wouldn't go more than five miles without requiring a refill. And there's a petrol station just less than a mile away from my house, so if I had known I could've gone right there and there would've been no problem. All in all, the people at that garage are a useless bunch of bastards who could well have fucking killed me if I had continued on down that big hill. So, yeah, that was fun.
