When he first shows up, he's driving a awesome late 50's Chrysler (Dodge,Plymouth can't remember). Later in the series he rides around on a dinky little motorcycle.

I think the last time we saw Spike in the car was in season 3, Lover's Walk, when he was driving away from Sunnydale. I love that scene...him singing along to some British rock version of "My Way". Anyhoo, my guess is that he ditched the car because he was heading back to see Dru in South America, and I doubt he would have driven the whole way there. As for the motorcycle, he picks up that sweet thing in Bargaining Part II of season six. He knocks one of the renegade demons off the bike so he and Dawn can look for the others. It is peculiar why he doesn't get another set of wheels earlier on. Certainly would provide better sun protection than the motorcycle. But wouldn't be nearly as funny. I love that image of him and Dawn riding on it, her in the funny striped helmet. Reminded me of how she was in Pete and Pete.

well we know he got the motorcycle when he pulled one of the motorcycle gang demons off of it at the beginning of Season 6
(when Buffy is rising from the dead).

I thought maybe Spike traded in his car when he got that crazy camper at the end of Season 5
(when they were all escaping from Glory)
I'm figuring he found some crazy car dealer who wanted to own and fix up a 'classic' car so he gave Spike a good enough deal to get the beat up old RV.

For the record, the song is called "My Way," NOT "I Did It My Way." It's a Sinatra song that Vicous covered.

and also...without the motorcycle...we wouldn't have the funny image of Andrew clinging to Spike for dear life in season 7 when they're off to check out that monestary.

Pretty sure Spike would have STOLEN the camper, after all there was that whole scene where he offered to steal the Trio's van for Buffy, also he mentioned that he would rather have stolen a car just big enough for Buffy, Dawn and himself. As far as Spike's track record with cars goes, there was an episode in Angel when he comes back to the office needing a new car because the last one "ended up in the drink". Maybe he's a bit of a hoon behind the wheel.

The last time I remember seeing the car is in Crush. Remember Buffy and Spike's "date" when they went looking for the vamp that killed all those people on the train? They only showed the inside of the car but I always assumed it was Spike's De Soto. Mostly because there was booze in it.

I don't know what officially happened to the car, but apparently there's going to be an explanation of its disappearance in Peter David's upcoming one-shot Spike comic.
