I'll be at Gen Con Indy later this month, I was just wondering if there were any Firefly/Serenity-related activities going on during the Con?

I don't beleive there is any looking at the packet I received. I'll be down there, if there is enough people maybe we can form our own event?

I live on the SW side of Indy, you here in town? If your interested in helping plan and set up give me a yell at CapnRahn@aol.com
Hoping to do some panels as well - on costuming, props etc. We'll just have to see.

A quick search of the listings for GenCon ( http://registration.gencon.com/regsystem/listevents2.cgi) found the following:
RPG01187 - Firefly, The Roleplaying Game for Browncoats RPG - Role Playing (full)
RPG01188 - Firefly, The Roleplaying Game for Browncoats RPG - Role Playing (full)
RPG01189 - Firefly, The Roleplaying Game for Browncoats RPG - Role Playing (full)
RPG01190 - Firefly, The Roleplaying Game for Browncoats RPG - Role Playing (full)
RPG01728 - Firefly - Horse Trading (full)
I'm too busy to help set something else up, right now, but I'd be willing to participate if someone else is able to. (Yes, I live in Indy; yes, I have a four day pass; yes, I'm taking vacation days to attend.
)
At this particular moment, though, I'm stuck at work with a dead car waiting for a tow truck...

I am running some events at Gen Con but would be willing to attend if someone else set it up. It would be nice to play the Firefly Role Playing Game.

I've got a rather full con schedule myself, but would find some time to attend a Firefly event. Let me know if anything's going on.

Heh - looks like we're all willing to attend, but none of us have the time to actually set something up...
Real life kinda sucks, ya know. But hey, at least we don't get stuck in space with a dead ship...

There's a Firefly RPG? Like a published, official RPG I can run to the store tomorrow to pick up? I haven't gamed in years, but I would buy that just because I love FF.
BTW, I hear diesels love their oil like sailors love their rum. Why is that, Cap'n Rahn?

Quote:Nope. If you go to the GenCon search page and do a search on Firefly, it comes back showing these events as Cyberpunk 2020 games.

The problem with creating an official Firefly RPG is that the series license is still held by Fox, and the film license is held by Universal. You can't incorporate material from both into the same product without buying two very expensive licenses.
At least, this is what I am made to understand. There IS interest in the RPG publishing industry, but this problem is significant.
By the way, I will be at Gen Con Indy, working at the Mongoose Publishing booth. Come by and say hello! (I'm the very tall girl.)

I happen to know the guys running this game and it looks very promising. Although CP 2020 was used as the system it seems quite stand alone in it's presentation.
I think Cyberpunk 2020 is a a good system for adapting Firefly. And has been stated in other threads, D20 system is not, IMHO, as effective a system for what I would consider already developed characters. Also, the Cyberpunk source books already do an outstanding job of setting a dark futuristic atmosphere which is a part of Firefly along with the western themes, also found in Cyberpunk.
PS- I think it's probably all Browncoats playing in the game, if you are looking for help maybe stop by the table where the games are being played and you might find some help.
