All the news incoming and all that said I still agree people should wear a mask in crowded space, especially some crowded place of government or indoor crwoeded public responsiblity, we have known for many years a Plague Mask is important if people are dying from some plague doomsday virus and numbers are rising

That said I'm not sure Corona was the Doomsday plague the 'End is Nigh' people expected.

How dare you compare a quarantine facility where people stay a couple of weeks in the middle of a pandemic to a concentration camp where people were worked to death and gassed, how fucking dare you.... Boo fucking hoo to those who stayed there and are moaning.

I wish we had had more of them, I wish we had sorted out decent quarantine for people returning from overseas.

Interesting fact, I remember as a kid seeing the old quarantine stations on the coast near where we stayed in summer. It seemed so weird to think of them being needed, but they were built during the spanish flu period. That along with mask mandates was successful in largely keeping the flu at bay in our Island nation. Back in those days the numbers arriving from elsewhere were small, and by boat. No cheap packages to Asia in them days.

My Dad always said that Spanish flu killed more people than WW1 and I remember vaguely not quite believing him, it was so rarely discussed. Until I looked up the figures.
