Faked Trump Quote on Twitter

It is pretty funny that this all went down like it did.

Especially funny that after the dust had settled that Trump letigimately sent out a tweet that, it could be argued, was even worse than the faked one.

I understand any backlash that Bremmer got after the fact from people on the left. Especially those who were embarassed online by being part of the virtue signalling outrage mob over a tweet that never happened.

I don't get Trump's problem with it though. It was a good troll. If it was meant to make Trump look bad, it certainly backfired.

I'm of the belief that even though Bremmer seems to pass himself off as your typical college professor Liberal type, he purposefully did this to give Trump some ammo.

When he was confronted on why he put this fake tweet out there he said “it’s a comment on the state of media and the twitterverse today.”

I say, good show Bremmer.

There is a LONG list of left wing news journalists, politicians and celebrities tweets about this fake tweet that were made before it was known it was a fake tweet.

I haven't been able to find it yet. If anybody does find it, please link it here.

While we're on the topic, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention something that had spread on the other side of the aisle.

I hadn't seen this video until just right now, but I'm pretty unimpressed with it after hearing all the noise about it.

I'm hardly a professional movie editor, but I could have downloaded the original video of her speaking, slowed it down in the free Windows Movie Maker program on my old crappy computer and had it re-uploded to YouTube within an hour.

It actually made me feel better to see how low tech this video manipulation was after hearing a lot about it. But that doesn't make the threat of being able to make faked videos of people saying things they never said a reality in the short term. We can already do it with audio. It won't take long before the video technology is out there.

I think the scarier thing about it all is that this video was passed around as much as it was as a legitimate thing that it actually got over 2 million views.

I don't think we even need to ever get to the point that the technology is 100% believable and impossible to disprove. People who are so entrenched in their alliances on either side want to believe so bad that tweets and videos like the ones mentioned above are good enough.

Just imagine a world where one ideology controls all the media. In that instance, there wouldn't be anybody out there even trying to disprove any of it because they themselves would have been the lone propagators of the fake news.

Found a guy who uses your Patton avatar in Twitter while looking for these ridiculous retweets by the leftwing nutjobs in the media.

Not saying that it's you, but figured I'd give you a heads up to change it over there if it is. The likelihood somebody else might accidentally stumble upon your Twitter account at random is probably really small, and that's probably not you, but with all the talk of doxxing going on in here from time to time, I wouldn't want any loose ends out there.
