Coming in January, looks interesting.
I like the cast - Atwell, Lindsy Fonseca, and Enver from Dollhouse.

The concept does nothing for me. I didn't really think Agent Carter was a compelling character at all in the first Captain America. I really don't see her carrying a show. However, I agree the rest of the cast sounds pretty good and it is the Marvel cinematic universe. So, I'm interested enough to give it a shot.

Would you have preferred they rename it "Origins of SHIELD" or something?

I enjoyed the Marvel One-shot, so I am looking forward to the series.
I wonder how they'll address the fact that HYDRA was infiltrating from the very beginning.

Nope. That doesn't sound compelling at all. In fact it sounds like a show that would be full of land mines if they're not going to retcon stuff. For instance Coulson talking about how they didn't have a name for SHIELD all through Iron Man.

I loved Peggy in Captain America, and felt she's been the most well-rounded female character in the MCU to date. Im really looking forward to her series, and what appears to be several appearances in more movies.

That's not accurate. He called it by it's full name from his very first line of dialog. There were jokes about needing to shorten it. But the name was already in place, and there were comments about how the organization was not new.
"I'm Agent Phil Coulson with the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. "
Sounds like they had a name, to me.
At worst, their frequent use of the acronym would be retconned - but that being their first movie, before the whole plan was laid out, its not that big of a deal and can easily be chalked up to changes in policy over the years, and shifting from being a covert to openly known organization.

At this point it is only intended to fill the gap when SHIELD goes on its winter hiatus. There may be some tie-ins to Age of Ultron, CapAmerica3, etc. And of course, there is the chance it will come back for more episodes if it does well.

SHIELD will have it's fall finale on Dec. 9, then I suppose there will be various specials for three weeks. Agent Carter premieres Jan. 6 and will run for eight consecutive weeks, with SHIELD returning Mar. 3.
