Think about it. It IS.
Fear that Muslims might be in Congress...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy.
Fear that the President might be Muslim...because if he's Muslim, he's the enemy.
Call to investigate Muslims working at the White House...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy.
Call to make practice of Islam illegal...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy.
Fear of Muslims financing anything...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy..,
...and on and on and on.
...so let's investigate them all.
Yes, there is a very real danger in Muslim extremists.
There was a very real danger in Communism and spies.
But seeing them "everywhere"? Wanting to "root them out", expose them, attack them?
McCarthyism worked because a politician latched onto that fear and used it to his own advantage to gain power, until someone finally called him on it. Islamophobia is working because politicians have latched onto that fear and used it to their own advantage.
As to the "majority" being anti-virtually everything Muslim and equating Islam with terrorism, the "majority" was pro-McCarthy once.
Where is an Edward R. Morrow when we need him? Ron Paul isn't Morrow, but he tried; it didn't take. Who else will stand up?

I don't get "warm and fuzzy" about Muslims, any more then I get "warm and fuzzy" about the Phelps clan. I despise ALL organized religions. The difference is, unlike you, I despise them all equally, AND I recognize their right to exist, and will fight for their right to believe in things that I myself don't believe in.
You, on the other hand, only believe that people have the right to believe in exactly what you believe. The second they deviate from your rigid belief system, you'd happily throw them to the wolves. You have more in common with the Taliban than you do with the founders of this nation.

See Kwicko, I don't believe in despising all religions equally, though I despise religions ardently.
Take STDS as an example. I despise them, except when people I don't like have them. But as a general rule, I don't care for them one whit.
