Nancy Pelosi wants some answers.
The house speaker is calling for an investigation into groups protesting the building of the Ground Zero mosque.
"There is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some," she told San Francisco's KCBS radio on Tuesday.
Pelosi added that she joins "those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded."
Many Republicans have said they are against the building of the mosque, and have demanded Democratic candidates and incumbents to publicly choose a side.
The GOP said it will keep hammering the issue in a drive to take back Congress.
"It's important to voters right now," Tory Mazzola, spokesman for the National Congressional Republican Committee, said.
Pelosi is one of few House Democrats to make a statement on the mosque. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) broke from the president on Monday and said the mosque should be built "someplace else." The move occurred shortly after his Republican opponent Sharron Angle asked where he stood.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has previously said an investigation into how the $100 million project is funded would be "un-American."
Pelosi said the matter is a "zoning issue" in New York City and would like the matter to be determined by city residents. She said the issue might be "ginned up" in order to help Republican candidates.
"In New York, I'm sure the New Yorkers would like to make their own urban development decision themselves," Pelosi said.

Is this issue like Willie Horton writ large (with a turban)? Seems effective so far. Liberals need a better response than "You're bigoted!" or "they've got the right." Neither persuades; neither is truly on point. The best response, I think, is silence. Perhaps then, the Republicans incessant harping on the issue will be revealed as the non-issue bullshit that it is.

So let's replace that word with one that infidels will understand and re-state the title to the Imam's book:
"A Call For The Spread of Islam From the World Trade Center Rubble"
Yup .. that's the guy behind the World Trade Center Mosque! That's the guy your taxpayer dollars are being spent to fly around the world on some sort of strange diplomatic mission. A Muslim Imam who wants to gather Muslims in the rubble of the World Trade Center to pray for the spread of Islam. How very wonderful.
Now remember .. a part of that rubble was the very building that is going to house this Mosque in New York City. The landing gear from the aircraft Muhammad Atta flew into Tower One crashed through the roof of the building in question. Who knows? Maybe they've saved some rubble from that very building to enhance their prayer for the spread of Islam experience.

"While I welcome President Obama's comments on religious freedom, I can understand why John Feal and his fellow 9/11 responders would want to hear that the President supports their cause, too," Maloney said.

These are the folks Pelosi says need to be investigated. If you say otherwise, then you're admitting that Pelosi is just being selective and 100 % partisan on the issue.
