Feed the Birds

I'm not sure what "Feed the Birds" means in Castle-land but here's what it means to me:
During Australian winter feed the damn magpies on your street or any of the walkways you frequent.
If you feed these birds in winter you dramatically reduce your chances of having a hole bored into your head or having an eye gouged come springtime when they get terretorial, sharpen their lethal beaks and swoop pedestrians.

'Feed the bird' was a slang for a 'high five' or similar congratulatory type act. In 'feed the bird', one person holds out their hand , w/ imaginary bird feed, while others use their hands in bird like fashion to 'feed' from the hand.

'Feed the bird'.

I swore, no matter how much I love Nathan, I was not going to follow the feed the birds trend.

Then I moved jobs, and one of the employees at the new store, a - anyway, he's obsessed with High-Fives, but he's HUGE. He high-fives like a mack truck, and my girly little hands can't handle it. I thought he was gonna take my arm off that first time.

He LOVES feed the birds. He stops by my office for a "double feed the birds, with a paw-high five exclamation point" at least five times each shift. (Paw high fives are kitten high-fives, with your fingers curled and done gently - did I not say he was adorable?)

I'm trying to get my kids to Feed the Birds. 'Cause they high five the heck out of each other 'til somebody cries. I guess it's a boy thing.
Might I also recommend "Air Five". When the boys want to congratulate each other at the dinner table, I make them Air Five. Imaginary contact in the air. We also have Air Fist Bump. That has saved us from our plague of overturned drinks.
