i thought it might have been a chinese expression from Flyfly but couldn't find it. I have looked around but no go.

I googled it and nothing remotely close came up.

But I went to www.urbandictionary.com and a lot of stuff came up. So without seeing your friends email as a reference it could mean a multitude of things, some good some bad.

In Irish slang, "Cheen" usually refers to a hot Irish chick, the same way you would use the word "hottie" or "babe".
