HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Anna Nicole Smith, the former Playboy playmate and reality TV star, died Thursday, broadcast reports said.
She was unresponsive and was rushed to a hospital Thursday while staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino, hotel officials said.
"She checked in Monday at 8 p.m. as a guest. She was due to check out tomorrow," said Danielle Giordaano, a spokeswoman for Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Not wanting to sound out of line, but in this case, some might say NOT knowing her mom would be a benefit. I didn't follow ANS's career, more than I could stand to have it thrown at my face, so I'll be the first to say...I DON'T KNOW. She was obviously a wreck, but I've also heard she was a good mother, for her part, to her son.
I'd be very interested to see where the baby fits in to ANS's Will. If she's already in it, then I'd hope someone is taking steps to protect her. Foul play can't be ruled out in the death of her brother and then her mom. Weren't both the guys claiming to be the child's father lawyers?

If it were a book, no one would believe her life's story. It was more extreme than many of us will ever experience. I suspect she just didn't have the emotional and mental capacity to deal with it all, and I wonder how many of us would.

I haven't been able to get away from this story every time I turn on the news.
It staggers my mind that anyone (outside of her friends and family and colleagues) cares, let alone cares so much that we have to be inundated with relentless commentary and speculation.
There are 1000 people dying each day from violence and other causes in the Congo. In Sudan, it is believed that 400,000 people have been tortured and killed in a genocidal campaign in the last 3 years, with over 3 million more trying to survive.
And what are we talking about around the water cooler? What is wrong with us?

Politicians and the media spend a lot of money on focus groups that figure out just exactly what makes us "tune in". In our case one of the things appears to be pretty (or controversial) blonde American women who get killed. How long was that Natalee Holloway story on. Fox News is by far the worst offender but they're all operating that way. It's also sad that the focus groups are acurate. So though you may be an exception, most of us ctualy do value the lives of pretty blondes more than Africans. Lot's of people in denial.
