The final and near-epic battle was set to what sounded like an Irish melody, sweeping and grand.
Just, why Irish, is Buffy of Irish descent?
Or is Joss?
It works perfectly, just askin' is all.

Half-Irish hisself Chrisisall

Does there have to be a reason?

I also love the music from the finale. I wouldn't describe it as Irish as much as epic and yes its roots are Irish/Scottish/English.

I like the quiet

After hearing it on the menu, and in the episode, it's almost as stuck in my head as the Fruity Oaty Bar jingle...

Actually, maybe you can help me. I have an ear for musical scores in movies and such, and there when Joss repeats music that has only been used once or twice before I tend to notice. Like the music at the beginning of After Life when Buffy first comes home is the music from Restless.

The music from Smashed, at the end, when they start to have sex, has been bugging me forever. I know initally it is a variation on the Buffy/Angel theme, but the haunting voice that comes in at the end is from somewhere else. I think I just figured out that its from the very tend of The Wish, when everyone starts killing eachother and the Master snaps Buffy's neck. I know that you just watched all of them, do you happen to know? I haven't seen The Wish in probably 3 or 4 years and can't get my hands on Season 3.

Another example of my music OCD. Go back to Dirty girls, when Faith first attacks Spike and throws him into the gravestone. There is a short instant of the finale music for the first time in that moment and it keeps building a tiny bit from there. Because when Faith comes back, that is the beginning of the end, and where history starts to change. Forgive me, its finals, and I'm waxing philosophical about EVERYTHING!

Wow SASHASRM, that's much deeper into the music than I ever get. :D

My thoughts on the music pretty much amount to: "The final ep sounded like Pirates of the Caribbean." 'Course, that's just my opinion, but it has that same sweeping epic battle feel....

Actually, it can be really annoying. Because I'll hear a piece of music and it will nag at me til i get it. it's just one of the wacky but useless ways my brain works!
